    1 Chimichanga Special Dinner $13.99

El Toro Restaurant - Champlin Minnesota Review 4 June 2020 The best thing I can say about this $60 experience is the time from ordering food to picking up was quick. I always tell people to find five positives, so here are four more. Close to home, easy access to enter and exit the parking lot, large portions, and the woman that helped my husband was friendly. I wanted this to be a good meal, but that wasn't to be. Based on the reviews, I thought we would be safe trying this restaurant for an authentic Mexican meal; what I've learned is the other reviewers may not have had authentic Mexican food. I'm not sure I would go as far as saying it was "okay," even for an Americanized version. This Americanized Mexican food all tasted the same with only slight texture differences, overloaded with tons of oily cheese and sauce, and mostly indistinguishable ingredients. We ate some of what we ordered and then looked at the remaining food, which was most of what we ordered, and threw the leftovers out. They won't be any better tomorrow. Chicken Tostaguacs - Made with chicken and beans. For Two $9.49 + $0.50 for an upgrade to Pinto Beans. $9.99 1 Chalupa, 1 Tamal & 1 Chile Relleno Combo - $13.99 Chimichanga - 2 flour tortillas deep-fried and filled with beef tips, fried beans and rice topped with nacho cheese, garnished with guacamole salad. - $13.99 Jalapenos Poppers Burst - Breaded Jalapenos stuffed with cheese, deep-fried, and served with lettuce and house dressing. $8.69 Sub-Total: $46.66 Tax: $3.51 Tip: $9.33 TOTAL $59.50 We won't be going back.

If you want authentic Mexican food, this isn't the place. I'll begin with the sauce, we wanted to try both of the green and red sauce so they gave us both. The red sauce taste overdue, the green sauce is bland with only the taste of sourness. I ordered a beef chimichanga and my husband got the shrimp burrito, they wrapped it so sad. The chimichanga is so plain, no sauce or anything on top like how a usual chimichanga would look like. And then, We ended up using out own tortilla from home to wrap the burritos so the stuff inside doesn't fall all over the place. The jalapeño poopers was so dried, i wonder do they make it fresh or do they let it sit and serve? I enjoyed the rice and beans, its good.

I had the most delicious chicken, cheese, and mushroom quesadilla from this joint tonight. They made it to perfection! It was not soggy at all when it arrived; which happens often with delivery quesadillas! They also serve the delicious white sweet sauce as a side for your chips - and that alone had me sold on this place. We will be ordering from here again very soon! I had a hankering for Mexican food tonight, and this hit the spot. Kudos!

I have been going to El Toro for years now, and I can't remember one time I have been disappointed. I always get the Fajita Chimichanga and it's tastes delicious! The rice is done perfectly, and the cheese is SO good! This dish is great and I definitely recommend getting it when you come here, but they have many different options to choose from. This is my favorite Mexican place to eat at. I'm giving this place a 10/10 for it's amazing food and service, I will definitely come back and I recommend this place to everybody.

Wanted the head over to the ice cream place on the other side, but I'm still waiting for the bill... Friend asked for a menu and got a Mountain Dew (awkward)... Good food though!

Looking for some decent Mexican food in the burbs, fair prices and stellar service look no further, here it is. Thumbs up: -The service here is what stands out, attentive, friendly, and pretty speedy. -You get what you pay for, decent $. -HH seems to be a hit here, good deals and tequila, if you like that -No qualm about parking here -Ah it's next to a ice cream shop, say no more. -Vegetarian friendly, wah hoo! Thumbs down: -The food is so - so nothing to kick doors down for. -Just about everything's covered in cheese, red sauce, yellow saice, some kind of sauce. When I'm in the mood for some Mexican food and don't want to trek far, this is my neighborhood spot! -

This review has been long overdue because Riviera Maya is one of my top 5 favorite places to eat…read morewhen I can't decide what I want and need a filling meal. My top favorite dishes: - "QUESABIRRIA TACOS"!!! If you come for NOTHING else, the Quesabirria tacos are the only thing you should strongly consider stopping by for. Stuffed to the brim with tender, shredded, slow-cooked beef and cheese, served with a hearty consomé for dipping, these Quesabirria tacos will brighten anyone's cloudy day. If you're looking at the menu and nothing speaks to you, want to try something new, are in the mood for a comfort meal, or just want to guarantee a solid meal, the Quesabirria tacos are your fool-proof option. - "Enchiladas Tapatias". My backup dish if I'm not in the mood for Quesabirria tacos is these stuffed chicken enchiladas, covered in a cheese sauce. Served with rice, refried beans, lettuce, tomato & sour cream, this dish is a cheesy, gooey, delicious bite, every time. -"Taquitos Mexicanos". Four deep-fried taquitos stuffed with chicken or beef, served with guac, lettuce, tomato & sour cream. You won't find these bad boys anywhere else but in the appetizers section. If you blink twice, you might miss it. If you're not too hungry, this is a great, "light" option that's both filling and high protein ;-) -"Family Style 15 Street Tacos". This is a meal my family consumes at least once a month. It's practical, filling, and leaves leftovers! For $40, you get 15 corn tortilla tacos (your choice of protein), rice, refried beans, guacamole, chips, salsa, cilantro, & onion. If you need a meal for a group of 4-6, this is a phenomenal option. There are several other family-style options (including Margarita Mix ), ranging from $20-$50, available, but I've only tried & returned for the street tacos. -"Beergarita". This margarita with a twist is served with an upside-down 7 oz. Corona. Refreshing and stiff, this signature drink is a fun option to try with any meal. Riviera Maya is a delightful family-owned restaurant. The service is exceptional. Our family is always treated with the best care and attention. Riviera Maya is a hidden gem in the heart of Maple Grove, typically full on weekends. Whether takeout or dine-in, I'd encourage you to check them out!

Our favorite is their live music nights, but any time we can stop in, we enjoy the extra considerate service with our kiddos and see them bring that to every customer. Service was excellent, we were seated quickly and orders were taken with smiles and delivered with accuracy. The ambiance was good, the murals and decor are spot on. As far as the food... I'm not sure where to begin. It wasn't bad, it was just extremely mild in terms of flavor, and we prefer far spicier offerings. The prices are very fair and the portions are generous. If you are looking for a place with food that won't burn a hole through your stomach in terms of spice, then this may be for you. If you're looking for the spiciest enchiladas this side of the Mississippi, then I would recommend skipping this ones For our family we may not add this place to our regular rotation, however we will certainly be back to drink margaritas on the patio when the weather warms up. It was obvious that many of the patrons enjoyed their meals and were having a good time, so at least give this spot a try.
