Love this little place when I am in LP! They always have pozole, not just seasonal, and it is delicious! Kids meals are large portions, beef fajita carbon is enough for an adult. Super friendly staff as well.

I came here for the good reviews and I'm confused as to why or who is leaving them. Off from the start when we ordered our drinks the cups were dirty and all our drinks/cups had a wet dog smell just nasty. The silverware was dirty too. Cool I came here for food so I still gave it a shot. The chips and salsa yeah it's a no for me tasted like the Tostitos sauce from Walmart. I ordered beef and chicken fajitas and botana party platter... we only ate the chicken fajitas from the plate the beans and rice. Everything from this place is frozen like the Walmart taquitos/southwest chicken eggrolls and they just deep fry them. This was a big let down because we didn't like anything. This is far from Tex mex food it's frozen Walmart food. Will not be returning here

I was expecting the Pozole to be meh, but it was WOW! My dad had the carne guisada and said the flavor was on point! The coffee tasted great. If you don't like your cream cold for the coffee, ask and they will warm it for you. What great service! The tortillas were 3 for the meal! Nice!

This is lunch fajitas for $15.00 3 dried slices of chicken and 3 dried slices of beef on a cold plate.

The service was wonderful. The restaurant is clean. I love their chips and salsa!! The meal was kinda sad. Who serves fajitas on a cold plate? It was lunch, but i still expected them to come a fajitas normly do. This was a plate with rice, refied bean, and 3 strips of chicken and beef that had been microwaved. The meat was dry to eat. I will take it home and try to make it I to a good dinner. Paid a total of $46.00 for 1 meal from the lunch menu, 2 drinks, and a side of cheese.

I think El Toro is a fine example of the "Tex" part of Mexican cuisine. We went there one evening when in town visiting family because our nephew really wanted to go. I can see why, as there were many dishes appealing to a teen, the servings are generous, and they have free unlimited vanilla soft serve ice cream for guests. The restaurant itself is what you'd expect from a mass appeal Tex-Mex place, lots of wood and white, decorated with paintings of cactus and sombreros. It's very clean, comfortable for a group, and well lit. Food offerings are again what you'd expect - tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. The Rev got the chimichanga, I had fajitas, the teens had shrimp tacos, seafood enchiladas, beef tacos and beans. Everything was decent, the enchiladas were a little heavy on the cheese and light on the seafood but that was fine. Daniel, our sever, was excellent, really above the standard. He was friendly, helpful, had great timing and was clearly keeping a good eye on all his tables as water glasses remained filled, dishes both arrived and were cleared at the right times, and he handled teenage slightly obnoxious behavior like a pro. Easy parking in their huge lot, even for people with larger SUVs and trucks there's no sweat getting a spot there that you can easily get in and out of. We'd definitely go back for some good Tex-Mex, heavy on the Tex.

Came here to try some Mexican food, but it was Tex mex, as they call it. Was not to bad, certainly not what I'm used to. It is very different from traditional Mexican food. But it was an amazing for sure. There street corn was off the chain! I had to he Monterrey dish it was very tasty! That was a lot a food. The manger came out and greeted all the customers which was amazing! Shows a lot of character of this place. Also the chelada here are banging!!!

There is parking in the front of location but it is hard to get in during dinner when it's crowded although to the right there was additional parking. I chose a Laredo Dinner($14.95)Four fajita nachos, a chicken flauta, one beef and one cheese enchilada topped with chilli gravy. Served with guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños and a cup of chile con queso I opted to have shredded cheese on everything instead of queso it was plenty of food and I actually couldn't finish it was good. I enjoyed the flauta it was in a flour tortilla and had a good taste.

Served with all the trimmings. Shredded cabbage, onions, cilantro, fried corn tortillas.

Whenever I go to La Porte for a visit I have to stop to The Bull! El Toro is a La Porte staple. The Ybarra family has been serving fresh tex-mex here for years and we totally appreciate it. Great place to meet friends, family or have a business lunch for those area contractors. Service is A1 always. I had the pleasure of Alyssa being my server last visit and actually I sat in her station on another visit she is very attentive and pleasant. Pozole is what I eat on a weekend trips but I have never had a bad anything at El Toro. All the food is of course fresh and always delicious with great portion sizes. This is the family that brought you Gringos so El Toro is the mother ship. Sorry for any typos!

A coworker and I swung by this TexMex restaurant for lunch recently. It had been several years…read moresince I'd been to Gringos, but I remember it being solid TexMex. We had a lovely time, and I was quickly reminded that this isn't jus one of the many TexMex spots it's the Houston area, but it's one of the better ones The restaurant is appealing and inviting from the outside. There's plenty of parking, a to-go station, covered patio seating, and plenty of seating inside The staff were great. We were greeted upon arrival and promptly sat at a table of our choosing. It wasn't completely packed, but much of the restaurant was full, yet we still had our pick of booth vs table vs bar etc We were provided complimentary chips and salsa. Both salsas are great, but the green one is creamy, packs a little heat, and is just delicious The menu offers pretty much all your signature TexMex meals from tacos, burritos, fajitas. Bowls, enchiladas, salads, soups, and many many more. There is a fully stocked bar with all sorts of beer and other drink options The food was terrific, and the display was exceptional. Everything was plated so well, and there were little touches here and there that showed they set they bar just a little higher Some tips: Join the Gringos TexMex insider club/reward loyalty program. You can earn points as you eat. You also get a bonus $25 added to your account when signing up I got the combo fajita tacos, which were solid, but I think I preferred the chicken fajitas way more than the beef Cheers!!

Diana took our order within minutes, margaritas and drinks served fairly quickly. She suggested their citrus tea, which was good but very sweet. I opted for the mango unsweetened tea and it was refreshing. The food did take a bit longer, but understandable. We usually go to their other restaurant, Jimmy Changas. The quality of the food and service is always consistently great with the Gringo's family!

I don't know what it is about this place. I really want to like it, but it always misses the mark…read more I've had two good experiences out of five times I've been there. The food is pretty good, as is the green sauce, and now that they added a spicy red sauce the food is even better. The building itself is nice but different tables have different vibes. The manager does go around checking on people but the issues aren't something that make sense to bring up at the time because it's always something different that is lacking. This last visit on Saturday the 11th of April. The hostess, a young short blonde girl (I won't mention the name), was rude. No eye contact, barely acknowledging we are standing right in front of her, definitely no greeting, and no direct communication. Just whispers to the person showing us to our table with a blank expression on her face. This was almost enough for me to decide it was going to be a bad experience. Definitely a bad initial impression. I said hi to her, told her thank you, and everything trying to extend courtesy then I remembered SHE is the hostess not me. Ridiculous. Our waitress that day McKenzie was pretty good, but I felt bad for her. Our table was as far as you can get from the kitchen or wherever the wait staff goes to get water, chips, food etc. and she was having a hard time serving, especially cause she would bring out one thing at a time. For example, she would see we had an empty cup, so she would just leave and come back and drop off a cup without communicating, well if she asked we would have told her, we need chips, water, salsa, napkins. Instead she made a trip for each of these, one at a time. Really weird wait style and very inefficient. She was still good though, because even thought at times she wouldn't communicate at all, she was still observing what we needing and dealing with it. Must be a weird gen z lack of interpersonal skills. I really want to like this place, they're on the cusp of being great, but need to work on consistency.
