I just had my first mouth gasm. And . . . I'm so full of delicious food that I actually had to unbutton my pants. Sooooo goooood.

After a terrible visit at the Rancheritos down the street, I took my friends here for some Mexican food. As soon as we walked in the service was absolutely wonderful. The Waitress greeted us with a friendly hello and got us a table very quickly. I ordered the Raspberry lemonade and didn't even wait very long to get my beverage. All I can say is that the lemonade was to die for. The Mexican tradition they have there is so extraordinary I forgot I was even in the United States! Once I ordered my super nachos I received them fairly quickly as well. As I revived them, they looked very disappointing but when I took a bite it was absolutely scrumptious! The chips are always hot and I will forever dream about the cheesy gooiness that was their cheese enchiladas. As a Logan resident for many years, El Toro was a mainstay for nights out with friends and lunches to destress. Go often enough and you will get a genuine smile from the host as they make efforts to get to know their regulars. The new location is much more open and spacious and the seating is arranged better. The food stayed the same: EXCELLENT! Easily the best Mexican in Logan. The service is always prompt and our waters and chips/salsa are refilled without having to ask. Really great lunch menu as well- the Tacos al Carbon are superb!! read more

The ambiance was so vibrant and the decoration of the restaurant is tops. I absolutely loved the look and feel of it all. The chips were fresh salsa was okay. I ordered a chimichanga that was quite honestly the worst chimichanga I've ever ordered and no crispness whatsoever. In fact it was soggy. Not sure how you fry a soggy chimichanga, but it came was not awesome. The other dish ordered was the carnitas tacos and El grosso served up once again. The meat was not flavorful in any manner and looked over cooked. The tacos fell apart the instance you try to pick them up, again soggy and flimsy. I'm a gringo and know for a fact that I cook better Mexican food. I actually wanted to try the fried ice cream, but after my meal...I promptly changed my mind. Guessing that would have been soggy too. Hire some new cooks. I'd come back for the ambiance, chips and salsa and a drink, but not the food. Oh and the service was decent. read more

Food was overly sweet. No spice what so ever. Service was mediocre. Never got the drink I ordered.

Food is delicious. Service is always prompt and friendly. We love stopping here on our way to and from Bear Lake.

The food is awesome if you live in Logan !!!! If you live anywhere around Salt Lake or even Ogden then you've be screwed !!! My advice.... You should get out more :( read more

The menu itself is tasty enough, and the service is good, but it ends up being a bit pricey for what you get. Our $38 bill got us two entrees and two drinks plus gratuity, and that was it: no appetizers, no desserts. Husband's street taco entree did not have nearly enough food to leave leftovers (three small tacos, rice, and beans), though mine fortunately did. Tiniest chimichanga of my life; should of been called a nugget. Our waitress Kelsey was not attentive to our needs. We told her our son spilt his water and she didn't not offer napkins or new chips. Best mexican restaurant in all of Cache Valley by far! First of all, the service is wonderful. The salsa and chips are amazing! (That is when you know a mexican restaurant is good). When I think of my eating experiences at El Toro Viejo, I think mediocre. Now I am not saying the food isn't good but compared to other places, it just does not stack up well. If you are looking for the top Mexican restaurant in Logan, then you found your place but if your looking for top notch Mexican food that will blow your mind, I suggest going to a different state. Yes, the place looks authentic but will it have the kind of cooking you expect from an Hispanic grandmother? The answer is no and if you have ever had the delicious combos of carne asada, pinto beans, tortillas, and possibly Puerto Rican rice that I am talking about then you will be able to taste the difference. read more

So glad that we came to El Toro Viejo for Mexican food in Logan. The three-chile platter that I ordered turned out to be the size of half of the table! No complaints here. The sauces were muy autentico and flavorful, a salsa verde and a red mojo type sauce. The corn tortillas were fresh and plentiful. I took back some to my hotel for late night munchies! read more

Hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Utah. I drive here from Ogden, just for El Toro Viejo!!

My favorite Mexican restaurant not just in Logan, but in all of Utah. I could drink the horchata in gallon buckets, and chase it with the salsa. And that's before the main course. My favorite is the molcajeta bowl(may not have spelled that correctly) which is enough food for three meals; it's a humongous stone bowl filled with chorizo, steak, chicken and grilled veggies. I also love the seafood enchiladas, and the tamales. Can't speak to the authenticity since I'm whiter than a mayonnaise sandwich on wonder bread in a blizzard; I just know it tastes awesome when it hits the lips read more

Their menu seems to be a carbon copy of hundreds of other upscale Mexican restaurants around Utah. Plate of refried beans, rice and one or two other items (tacos, enchiladas, chile rellenos, etc.). They are a step up from the hole-in-the wall "authentic" Mexican restaurants that serve head and tongue tacos, so it's definitely a place you can bring your wife. read more

Our family has come to El Toro for many years. We have been as much in the past couple years so I was surprised by a negative review about their chile relleno. I decided to check it out and ordered "El Original" and got a proper chile relleno with a flavorful tamale. My wife's flautas were some of the best she has had. Servers were attentive. The food is almost as good as it is huge. You will need a take out box unless you are a real pro. The service is top notch, and the prices are reasonable enough. I would discount the "I'm from California/Texas and I know authentic Mexican food" comments here, because I have been to any number of amoeba-ridden restaurants in Mexico, and the last thing i really want is an authentic Mexican experience.
