Situated on 62nd Street near bergenline avenue in West New York New Jersey. This restaurant is old school style Cuban cafeteria making homestyle Cuban meals. Plenty of seating as the restaurant goes far back making is it possible to sit more people. I order the baked chicken with rice and beans and yuca con mojo on the side. Chicken with roasted well. Nice and tender with lots of lemony sauce. The rice and beans were good and so was the yuca. All in all, a good place to have your home style Cuban favorite meals. So I have never eaten anywhere that had white rice like my grandmother's and this place absolutely has it! So good all the food here I just love it! Portion sizes are awesome. Their beans are super yummy both red and black. I had this chicken the other day that looked fried cause it was nice and crunchy but it wasn't greasy. My dad's coworker recommended this place, and now it's our recommended spot too! The servers are so friendly and outgoing, and the place itself is very lively. I got the fried red snapper fish for about $7. For $7, I got two big chunks of fried fish and a side (that you can choose from options) of a salad that had so much variety and volume in vegetables. We came for weekend lunch, and most of the meals are $6-$10 for BIG portions. Most of us were barely able to finish our plates. I also saw the breakfast menus, which are only $3-$5. Might come in for breakfast next time! The front of the restaurant is more like a cafe/ deli where people can easily take out food and deserts from a glass case. We took home flan, which was also very good. (I think it tasted better leaving it in the refrigerator for a few hours when we got home) Very very affordable prices--I say that there's nothing to lose eating here. read more

If you are looking for authentic Cuban food, this is not the place. The only good food we got was the toasted bread with butter (free) before our meal. To start the caldo Gallego wasn't very good, I can usually tell how the rest of the meal is going to be if the soup is bad. The soup had very little seasoning other then pieces of smoked ham. The ham tasted like it had freezer burn. The soup for my wife and I was look warm not hot. The Baby Churrasco I had wasn't very tasty and this cut of meat doesn't need much seasoning but it must have been frozen for a while. I squeezed half of lime and salt to get some taste. The Black Beans no taste either Cumin is usually prevalent in Cuban food and these beans had none. The white rice was clumpy, my daughters pork chops where dry (probably frozen for a long time) my wife's dish was fried fish and a salad, she enjoyed the salad more than the fish. So if you like toast and a Malta- this might be your place. But if you want good Cuban food - Keep looking. read more

Always get the specials of the day, they have a case that shows all the food they have prepared for that day. It ranges from pollo asado to albondigas, (meatballs Spanish style), ropa vieja, fish, meat and potatoes, and a bunch of other things. It comes with rice and beans and yucca. The price ranges from $5 to $7, $5 if you're a slob and want everything on one plate and $7 if you want rice beans and meat separated. The milk shakes are great if that's your thing. Basically stick to the specials and avoid the menu. If you want to order off the menu then it turns into a meal over $10 and for that there are better options on Bergenline. read more

After about a 10 minute way in between receiving food items (that were cold), I was given my main part of the meal, which was chicken, It was disgusting and dry. I asked to speak to who was in charge and he said that I would be recieving a different main plate for the same price, I ordered roast pork, which was not as bad-but still horrible. I actually created this account due to the lack of respect that that owner has for his customers. I went there with my son and my best friend. My son tried the food and he said' "mommy, this food is yucky", when he turns down food, there is definitely something wrong. The only thing we ordered that was tolerable was the sweet bananas, and those were not bad but overcooked as well. Then we finished what was edible of the food and got the bill. Ridiculous. $27.00 for overcooked, stale food that made me sick to my stomach. I asked the owner why the price was so high when the meals were only $5.00 each, we ordered 3. And he said that we changed our order and that the new order cost more, when in the beginning he said that he would give us whatever we wanted for the same price. When I got up with my son to pay, he treated us like criminals, yelling at the top of him lungs to me in front of my son and going outside to lower the metal gate like we were going to "dine and ditch", even though it was a good idea for that rubbish that they called food. read more

This place is not your maitre'd kind of place. Real authentic Cuban food at a very affordable price. Great place to pick up a meal when on the go or to order for parties.
