Ela has been the biggest pleasant surprise of delivery dining during the pandemic. I ordered their lamb gyro and wow. Just. WOW. The meat was rich and flavorful, and plentiful. Perfect balance of sauce and vegetables. You won't be overwhelmed by hard lettuce and huge chunks of tomato like so many other Greek restaurants do. Do yourself a favor and try this one for yourself. Perfectly Greek food, but better. Spanakopita is fantastic. Lamb gyro was gorgeous and authentic and wonderful.

Had the Greek salad with shaved lamb leg. So good. Generous portion of well seasoned lamb which was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The salad itself was great and I got the sense they used real quality extra virgin olive oil. The tzatziki was also delicious. read more

This place is something special. When I first passed through the doors of this wondrous restaurant, I realized that both my shoes were on the wrong feet, and that I had I forgotten to water my succulents. This place just made sense. With my newfound clarity I mustered up the courage to speak to the cashier who was friendly, kind and most definitely willing to fulfill my various food based desires. Striding into this establishment, I had assumed the ambiance would be similar to that of a Used 2002 Toyota Camry, yet looking around the interior, I found it was as if I stepped into a 70's retro Greek Bathroom, and as if I had been transported into a Stanley Kubrick flick. Eventually deciding on my main course of a Chicken Gyro, I proceeded to sit myself in a sheik metal stool and ponder the religious teachings of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." In a time that would make a McDonald's Drive-Thru attendant jealous their efficiency, the meal was placed in front of me and all I could think was, "I've made it." As I basked in the glory that was the Greek Masterpiece in front of me, I shed a tear, understanding that this was the closest I would ever reach to Nirvana. Yet my time was limited, I chose to take this experience to-go. Exiting was to that of Adam and Eve's departure from Garden of Eden, and left me empty inside. Thrown back into the real world and subsequently a strip mall in the middle of Venice, Ca, all I could feel was a deep and longing sadness. Alas, I will be back for more. I will avenge the fallen. Holy smokes this place is amazing! We ordered delivery, it was our first time ordering from here and we were highly impressed. The good has wonderful flavor and the bread tastes very fresh. We got the moussaka, lamb gyros and falafel gyros. Everything was so good. We will definitely be putting Ela in our usual rotation of takeout :) read more

Just walked in and asked the guy with small pony tail if I could do two meats on one gyro and he gave me a ton of attitude and told me no. Being a restaurant owner myself if one of my employees acted that Way I would be really upset. It was off putting enough that I walked out before ordering because I couldn't stand the attitude. Hopefully owner sees this and he can address it and this guy can change his approach. Be nice to your customers they cover your paycheck! read more

Ela is a wonderful restaurant. The food is of exceptional quality, freshly prepared, authentic, and approachable. The menu is concise and thoughtful: Greek salads, gyro sandwiches, and refreshing dips, all of which can be prepared in a few minutes to a high standard. Tomatoes are freshly sliced rather than prepped and left to languish waiting to be ordered as in other fast casual Mediterranean restaurants -- it's like being back in Greece! For those in the know, Ela has much in common with Inotheke, its predecessor restaurant in Santa Monica which was one of the best in LA. Prices are very fair, ~$10 for a quick and delicious lunch. read more

Little secret about this place: The owner and chef is actually an award-winning top chef with a history of owning and running 5-star Greek restaurants. He's the real deal, and the food here is absolutely top-shelf, no compromises, delicious. It's basically gourmet Mediterranean cuisine that you can just walk in and grab in 2 minutes for a fair price. You won't find Greek food this fast and good anywhere else in LA. Reminds me of this beautiful little joint in Paros, but it's a hell of a lot easier to get to. read more

Fantastic quick Greek street food. Chicken gyro is right on point. Fresh veggies, perfectly grilled chicken, delicious pita and sauce. Getting hummus as a side is highly recommended - bigger than your typical "side" but well worth stashing in your fridge for the next day. My new and permanent LA go to for a good pita. read more

Ela's is delicious!! The salads are very fresh and substantial. The grilled chicken is super flavorful and high quality. The eggplant dip is amazing. It's easy to get it wrong but they get it so right. And I love the baklava-- I'm usually a chocolate person when it comes to desserts so I usually pass on baklava but theirs is so good! i grew up in nyc eating all kinds of food....but being downtown in the 50s/ 60s/70s meant there was a greek place on almost every block. when i moved to the west coast it was a whole other story. you had to search far and wide to find accessible greek food...and except for the wildly expensive melisse...there was nothing remotely close to the venice/ocean park area. i sadly learned to live without it. but once confined to my place during covid, i somehow stumbled on this place. it's put me back in touch with my love of greek food. the mousaka is light as a feather and incredible delicious. the gyros are all great and amazingly fresh as i everything that comes out of this kitchen. can't believe my luck that after living here for 40 years...fantastic greek food has finally come to my neighborhood. i couldn't be happier about it. read more

Have you experienced restaurants where you can tell that the chef and staff are just mailing it in vs. a restaurant where the owner, management, chef, and cooks have passion and pride? Ela is the latter: full of passion and pride. Such a wonderful place. I ordered delivery during the pandemic, and the food was fresh, superb, and bursting with flavor. (And portions were substantial.) The simple Greek salad was delightful, the chicken exohiko fantastic, and the brisket gyro sublime. Footnote: I ordered online and requested one of the dishes without mushrooms. Minutes later, the owner (?) from the restaurant called me (he was as pleasant as could be) and informed me mushrooms were already in the preparation, which was fine. This was during a pandemic, yet the restaurant exhibited the kindness and care to call about a minor request from a first-time online customer. Bravo Ela! read more

Had the pleasure of having lunch here today and I must have said wow ten times while eating my lamb gyro. The balance of flavors was so on point, not over stuffed or anything but there were some nice micro greens in it that gave it a nice crunch. I just wish they had an option for plates with rice, humus or baba and salad so it's more of a full meal. If I could have that lamb with rice salad and some bread I would be super happy. read more
