I do not like giving negative reviews. Actually it has taken a while or me to leave this review. Now that I have had to identify a new service that requires an expensive first clean, my frustration with this small business resurfaced. Also, it is important for the yelping community. I did my research when I decided to choose them. I chose the small husband and wife business. I love the fact that they worked together. Also the reviews were great. I moved into my house in January. It was empty with a new kitchen and new floors. So this was easy money for them. When they finished I did a walk through and noticed that the kitchen had not been clean. The kitchen has new appliances and cabinets but they were very dusty. Isn't that to be expected? They did not clean it because it was new. However, the husband did a quick wipe down with water. I didn't say anything at first. That was my fault. It is hard establishing new services, I had just over into town and I wanted it to work. However, the wife did follow up with me. At that time I let her know about the cabinets and the dirty windows. I was really disappointed but when she was wiling to come back for free to clean, I accepted. Well, then I traveled for work, her grandchildren came to visit, she became sick and a month later we still did not schedule. Finally, I followed up because I wanted clean windows as promised in the agreement. Don't forget my house is extremely small and was completely empty. Easy money for them. Well, they backed out of their agreement. That is terrible practice. I told her that I had a picture of a cob-webbed window and dusty shelves, dated the initial date of my clean. I think this frustrated her. I am very disappointed and was definitely on the losing end of this deal. I did not get what I paid for. I was willing to work with them and she backed out like that. Again......an empty house, 1000 sq ft with new appliances and I paid full price. Easy money but I got dirty cabinets and cob-webbed windows in return. My recommendation is that you do the walk through with the wife and not the husband. Make sure you open every door cabinet. Until you know them, make sure you take a good look. I think it will work. Hired Élan to do a fairly non-standard full house cleaning. We talked to several companies and what really impressed me was their ability to be flexible and responsive to what I needed, rather than try to fit my job into some preconceived notion of a "turnover" or whatever. I had specific needs, they took careful note if what I asked for and they did it exactly as asked for a fair price. That's really something. I'll also say that the work itself was impeccable and that Tricia and Dave were really great people to meet. I would highly recommend these folks over several of their (unnamed here but also well reviewed on Yelp) competitors, especially if you have a little bit of a unique job that needs doing. read more

We hired Elan Cleaning because we were moving out of the rental and into our home. When you hire someone to do a move out clean you want to have a partner to help you out through the stressful move process. Having a cleaning partner to help you get back that cleaning deposit is a great idea. Thing is, hiring Elan Cleaning for a move out clean might not be a good idea. Long story short, I asked Elan to come over and do a move out clean and they needed to swing by to look over my place for an estimate. She came by but due to the hot weather I had my door shut and AC on so I didn't' hear the knock. I guess they didn't think to call me, so they just dropped off a card and left. I called them to ask why they didn't come by and she spent the entirety of the call complaining about how I wasn't there and she did everything to alert me. Everything except call me, which when I mentioned she said she had to go for another "important call." I don't really mind people being upset or some minor tension, really I just wanted to have someone clean my house. So I called back and she asked me "where I wanted to go from here." Odd question as she knew what I wanted but I said I wanted someone to clean my house and didn't really care either way if they looked it over first if there were overages, fine, I just needed someone to clean the place. They agreed and we traded emails about what our landlords wanted cleaned. Everything seemed fine at that point. Until the cleaning day.... Until that dreaded day. Basically they wanted more money due to more work to be done, I think it was an extra $80. My wife called me and I said it was fine. She was stressed out(as moving is) and said to them that was fine, when they wanted to explain she said she was tired and it didn't matter what needed to be done to just do it. The guy was upset started yelling and simply walked off the job. At the end of the day you want to partner with a company that has your back come moving day. We are going on two years with Elan cleaning my home and my office. Great people who do a great job. My staff could tell immediately when they took over at my office, as it was night and day from the previous cleaners. The surprising thing is that they charged the same price as the "bargain" cleaners who were not that great. One great thing about Elan Cleaning is that they are fast and on time. Their crew cleans our house (huge house) in two hours or less. If they say they are coming at 10, they come at 10. They are very communicative. If you have a leaky faucet, you get an email or text that day. If you are home sick in bed and want to move/cancel, someone gets back to you in 15 minutes. Customer service does not get any better than Elan. It is hard to find a reliable, affordable, trustworthy cleaning service, but Elan is and we will be customers for life. read more

These dudes did a fantastic job on a "move in" cleaning. My boyfriend & I basically hired them to really clean up some dirty rooms we didn't feel like dealing with after renovating our old house. The owner guy & the other guy that came did an excellent job & did everything we asked them to do, skipping over the parts we told them not to do. They gave us a fair & competitive price for what we needed. They came in a team of two & brought all of their own supplies. They weren't afraid to get on their hands and knees when necessary & really did some dirty work for us so we didn't have to! At the end, my boyfriend needed help moving a big, heavy pantry cabinet inside & the guys even helped him with that. They definitely went above & beyond, and among the other cleaning companies we spoke with & got estimates from, I'm glad we went with Élan Cleaning. Let me start by saying I've had several different companies clean my home(s) over the past ten years. I've gotten so that I know what I want and Dave and Tricia at Elan are just the ticket! In a nutshell they are reasonably priced, always dependable, flexible when needed, thorough, use eco-friendly products, professional and stable (been doing it for years), and to top it off they are super friendly and easy to reach in case of a change in schedule. Now, for more details...I called Elan after we moved to a new house in a different part of town. A friend told me they were recommended on Angie's List and I also found them with high reviews on Yelp. I called and spoke with Dave. He picked up the phone right away and asked a few questions about what I wanted done and scheduled a time for Tricia to come out. Tricia came to my house within a day or two and did a walkthrough and quoted me a price on the spot. She was very personable, friendly, and even took the time to learn a bit about me and my family which made me feel more like we were trusted friends rather than just a customer. I needed someone who could be at my house to clean in a two hour window on a certain day of the week due to my schedule and Tricia was happy to accommodate. Elan started cleaning my house in August of 2012 and I'm happy to say I feel like I found "The One" when it comes to house cleaners. I had elan come work with me and was pleased with their work. But then they emailed me and said they they had some exciting business opportunities and had to "dial back their schedule" and could no longer work for me. And yet, it appears they're still taking new customers and are fully in business. As far as I know, there were no problems between us. I accommodated their schedule, paid what they asked, praised their work, didn't ask for more than we agreed upon, was nice to their workers. So I have no clue as to why they dropped me.
