Nothing beats local! The BionX purchased there in 2011 stopped assistance after a year. The sensor in the motor got broken. The wheel had to be sent back to Canada for repairs but was returned cleaned but without actually being repaired. In the end it had to be replaced with a new one. I guess it would have been great pain in the rear if I had to deal with BionX directly myself. And there are a few complaints on the net about the way BionX treats their customers... While this back and forth with BionX was going on Kevin offered me a temporary replacement wheel until the new wheel arrived. read more

In so many words, I am glad I purchased my bike here rather than the countless other options along Coast Highway. It is a relatively small shop, yet it offers great service with convenient hours and a personable owner. Bikes can be a bit expensive, but they are absolutely top of the line, with a long warranty on the battery. All in all, good choice to buy a bike. read more

Called to find directions- owner was so helpful in getting my girlfriend and I there and ready to bike as quickly as possible. Super friendly and laid back environment inside the store and we were quickly set up so we could get on the road for our three hour rental. The bikes themselves were awesome and were a terrific way to explore the area quickly and not in a car. Price is awesome compared to other competition in area. The location of the business is perfect as well as you are directly across from the main bike path to check out all the beaches in laguna. Now that I have read the other 1 star reviews, I see that I am not alone about this Kevin guy! He was so condescending because my wife and I were interested in purchasing an Aventon Pace 500. He made us feel were like we were not serious bike riders and pointed us to other bikes that cost twice as much. He allowed us to try a Pace 500 up a hill and accused me of not pulsating the brakes coming down the hill as per his instruction. When I was confused about where the throttle button was located and wanted another try up the hill, he brushed me off and told me to allow my wife to try it. He expected me to be satisfied with one attempt up a hill without trying the throttle. In the shop he points to accessories of the bikes and pushes us back because we weren't honoring the six feet apart rule. How did he expect us to see what he was pointing to by not allowing us to get near? (We were wearing out masks) He is just a "weird" duck who was so rude and pompous. Little did he know we were ready to pull the trigger and buy two Aventon Pace 500's. A purchase well over $3000.00 but after that experience, which is so similar to the ones I have read, I am so glad we walked out of the store. I will take my business back to Orange Cyclist where they were so much more informative, thorough, and cordial. It may cost a few bucks more but I feel so much more comfortable that if things need to be adjusted they will follow through with good customer service. I agree with someone else's claim that these 5 star reviews must be made up because what I experienced in that shop in under 15 minutes was a total slap in the face. read more

I met Kevin from the Electric Cyclery the first time 6 months ago and many time since. He has greatly impressed me as a responsible business owner with strong commitment to customer service and support. When it comes to electric bicycles Kevin is THE expert; not only is he very knowledgeable about these high tech products but he is also extremely well documented on his website which seems always to be ajour. I purchased different products from his store and now am considering an electric booster for my recumbent bicycle which Kevin said he could easily retrofit (and I have seen many of them at his store). What I really like is that he does not try to sell me what suites him but what seems best for my need. Observing how Kevin treats his clients makes me feel very comfortable making a larger purchasing decision at his store instead of buying it online and save a few bucks. read more

Kevin's been in business for a long time and he knows Electric Bikes inside and out. I'm a disabled vet and I bought my first EBike from Kevin almost 10 years ago. In that time he was always happy to help if there was any sort of problem or question. When the battery from my first generation BionX finally conked out I checked out all the other ebike shops that had sprung up in that time but when it came time to lay down the cash I ended up back at Electric Cyclery. I purchased a $4000 Neo Jumper from Kevin at ElectricCyclery. It arrived with a bolt missing from front disc caliper. Handles bars that I had him install did not even fit steering stem (25mm handle bars and 31.8mm Steering Stem). The front wheel has bent spokes and wobbles, also the front brake disc is bent and squeaks every time it makes a revolution. Emailed Kevin and he said check the box, after I had already checked. He did say he is shipping the bolts. Nothing to make the handlebars fit. No response for the bent out of true front and rear wheels, and no response on the front brake disc...silence a customers worse nightmare...$4460 and no service... You make the call on Kevin and his service....several reviews that all state the same...no service after the sale does it for me... I could have bought the bike cheaper and free shipping from New york, which is what I should have done...do not use ElectricCyclery unless you want to get shunned and ripped off.... read more

Baffled by some of the negative reviews, I've had nothing but great experiences with owner Kevin and his shop. I have not purchased a bike from him, but I have spent many hundreds of $ on parts/accessories. His parts/accessories selection is very good and reasonably priced for a brick and mortar store. They are always great at allowing test rides on bikes. I plan on outfitting one of my current bikes with an electric conversion and Kevin has been great at giving good advice. Selection/pricing on electric bikes are best in South OC! Highly recommend! read more
