Don't use unless you are very comfortable overseeing the project from an engineering perspective and you don't mind be lied to and yelled at (more on that at the end). I hired EES after getting quotes from 3 different firms. Cost wise they were on the higher end but they seemed to have the knowledge and expertise to get it done correctly the first time (I was wrong). I have learned don't go cheap specially on things like this. And at a quoted price of $35K just for the gate excluding the concrete and brick work it certainly wasn't cheap. And the final price ended up at over $40K. Now the price differential was over changes to the project that they didn't for see. Specifically that the gate they spec'd didn't follow the contours of the road. If we didn't pay the extra we would have been left with a gate that had an opening on the left side of almost 9" which our pup would have easily been able to get under (the reason for the gate in the first place). So be careful as they are not detail oriented and you could end up with a much higher price then quoted. But the biggest issue was over fabrication and installation of the metal piers which hold the gate. The process was mason pours foundation with J bolts using a pattern. Location of the pattern they said doesn't matter. As they will then measure for the metal piers after. Well they measured incorrectly and put the bolt holes in the wrong location. Without consultation from me the solution the they came up with was to torch out the holes so they would fit. Further they installed one of the pillars on a visible angle. But the biggest issue is they torched the holes larger then the washers they put in place. See photos. None of the washers had full coverage and the outside ones that bear the vertical load had almost no coverage. Doesn't take an engineer to know that this a major issue. Once a heavy 12' gate is attached and the load is now pulling in all likelihood the gate would have sagged at best. I brought this to their attention once I noticed, and they agreed it was an issue and said they would be by on Monday to fix. Mason was due on Monday AM so I said it needs to be fixed earlier. With no word I fixed it myself. They then inspected my work and had no issues. I said I would appreciate some form of a discount as if this wasn't found by me, the mason would have finished the bricks and there would have been no way to know of the mistake until the gate was hung. At which point if the gate did sag then all the brick work would have had to come down. There response after a long discussion was make the next payment in full and we can discuss after the work is finished, "we want you to be happy." I made the next payment, and they then finished there work and sent me a final bill. I contacted them about what are they going to do. No response. Then they followed up on bill payment. I asked about the discount. Scott and John called me the same day. They said they gave me a $500+ discount on the labor for the additions to left gate. Both sides were modified and they quoted the right side was roughly $2k. When it came to the the left side they said they would do it at the same price and my change order shows that with no mention of labor or a discount. They then modified the final bill to show them adding labor that was never there and discounting it saying here is your discount. They lied to me over the phone saying that was their plan when they initially quoted it. And if they would have told me before the project started that there was going to be a huge gab under the gate we would have modified the plans to begin with. During this conversation, they were very heated, and I kept on saying I am pragmatic, at the end of the day if all you want is full payment I will do that, but I am just asking for some discount as recognition for the mistakes. I had explained that fixing this myself took 3 hours and gave them my hourly billable rate and one of them yelled at me and said I am not even worth a third of that. Again I said this needs to be de-escalated. Finally last item, they spec'd out an internet adapter for the gate which they didn't install and later I find out it was not even possible to be used. I said I would be happy to send back and would like a refund for just it. They wouldn't even do that and that part was just over $50 bucks. The following day Alan gave me a call to apologize for how the call went. Never directly apologizing for the insults. And still giving no discount. I had told them that I have another manual gate that needs less then an hour of work and I would have been happy with them fixing that while they were on site to say thanks. Or even just $500 off the final bill. But nope not willing to do anything to make it right on an almost $42K job. read more

We are the proud owners of a beautiful, new electrically powered sliding gate installed by Electronic Entry Systems. A dream realized. For years we have battled snow and ice to open our two 8' swinging gates. Now we push a button and a 16' wide steel frame gate, on which EES mounted new 8' tall spruce stockade pickets, gently slides open. EES also helped us add a secure pedestrian gate/door, allowing foot traffic without opening the wider sliding driveway gate. The keypad at the gate allows us to control the gate by remote control or phone. Perfect. As a family with a partially disabled person, we can attest that life has become a bit easier. Every thing was fine until I rec'd the bill. Although the bill was a little high, it was not totally unreasonable, but I did have a few questions. When I called, I was transferred to the bookkeeper. When she came on the phone, she had a bad attitude and every question I asked was responded with "this was in the Service Agreement". It was very obvious she was not in any mood to explain anything to me. Maybe it's just me but I like to know exactly what I am paying for and I think a company should be able to provide that information in a professional and polite manner. I had no problem with the technicians, except there were a few things on this bill that I know they did not do which I questioned and received no acceptable response. But they charge by the hour and mile so even though I know they did not perform all that was claimed, I was only charged for one full hour. If you do hire Electronic Entry Systems, I suggest that you do not give them your email. Even though I sent a check with receipt of the initial emailed invoice, over the next 3 days I rec'd a total of six emailed invoices. I guess they just keep sending invoices until they get paid. Geesh, it's takes at least 2-3 days for a check to arrive if send USPS. If they are that afraid they are not going to be paid why wasn't I presented with an invoice at the time of the repair??? But then they would not be able to figure out their complicated billing process which is after all in small print. read more
