Century Nails is great! You would think they are another one of those nail salons you can just drop into for a manicure, pedicure, or set of nails. Nope, not usually. That means people really like the salon and keep it busy. You need to make a reservation in advance most of the time. I have witnessed a few people walk in and be able to get in, but that's not the norm. You might think I'm giving them a bad review, but in fact it's just the opposite. I'm pointing out they are busy because they are that good. The three women who work there are all skilled in all manner of nail care. They do it all. Manicures, pedicures, acrylic nails and gel nails. French tips or a very wide selection of nail polish colours to choose from. Some of the amazing things about this salon is how friendly the employees are. After your first appointment they will likely remember your name and greet you by name when you come in again. Secondly, their prices are very very reasonable. Probably the lowest of any salon in Ventura. And they never, ever upsell you. Unlike other salons that want to charge extra for a foot or leg massage or for removing calluses from your feet Century Nails never does that. Their low prices include everything you want in a manicure or pedicure. The salon is clean and they line the tub to soak your feet with a disposable plastic liner. I really wanted to have this salon be "the one", but I guess not. I've gone here 4-5 times, but this last time, just before a two week vacation, I needed a little more done: acrylic on my big toe so the nail wouldn't split while away, and acrylic (for the first time since 3/20) so my nails would weather being in the ocean for two weeks. Well... the manicurist put so little acrylic on the toe that after one week it had split. And by the time I returned, my acrylic nails were chipping, not at the ends where you might expect, but near the top and sides of the nail. So I went into the shop to discuss my displeasure, quietly, because I wanted to give them a chance to make things right. Bottom line, the manicurist refused to make another appt with me. She said I'd be better off going to another shop, since I was unhappy with the manicure I'd gotten. Okay! I guess I'll take my money elsewhere. read more

I always do my own nails and have been doing gel polish manicures and pedicures at home for the past few months. Gel polish is amazing since it won't chip or fade for up to 4 weeks but it is very time consuming to apply, especially by an amateur like myself. I needed a break! After yelping a few local nail salons, trying to find one that would accept a 6:30pm appointment I scheduled a gel polish mani/pedi last night at Century Nails (open until 8pm). The shop is not a fancy spa but the staff was friendly and really worked hard to make sure I felt comfortable and relaxed. I read the latest copy of People, enjoyed the light foot and hand massages, and an hour and a half later practically skipped to my car with a perfect set of French nails and toes. $65 + tip and I am a very satisfied new customer. I can't stop looking at my nails and toes - they've never looked so good! Highly recommend for gel polish. Heads up: cash only. read more

But after getting a gel manicure here twice and having the gel chip off in less than a week I called to ask if they could redo the polish because a $25 gel manicure should last at the VERY LEAST a week. Lilly gives the BEST pedicures. She is always super busy so make sure and make an appt ahead of time. Andy does fills mostly and is the master. Lana will thread your lip or eyebrows, not advertised but you can ask. EXTREMLY REASONABLE PRICES!!!! No spa chair but everything is SUPER clean and sanitary. PS. Wow time to give credit where credit is due... I am a huge fan of Century Nails! I've been going to them for a year. After jumping from salon to salon dealing with bad pedicures, long waits, unnecessary credit card fees, and ridiculous up-selling I THANKFULLY found this place. Time to share this word-of-mouth jewel to the Yelp community. PROS / CONS + Inexpensive Services!! + No up-selling + Good quality + Clean + Reliable + Communicative employees + Friendly, remember you, & very accommodating + Unique service: threading (in addition to standard hair removal) - CASH ONLY - Busy during weekends for walk-ins - Potentially weak massages unless you ask - No high-end massaging chairs - Smaller sized shop - no airbrushing ---- First Impression ---- This salon is more popular by word of mouth than anything else. They stay very busy and have repeat clients. I consistently watched as clients came in, almost all regulars, and they recognized them by name immediately. They even remembered my name on a walk-in on my third visit? Impressive. ----Quality of Service ---- (Note: One of my biggest issues with salons is up-selling after they give a base price. If you were going to charge for a top coat, you should include that in the PRICE, not make me pay more or do without after I'm sitting down! I can't stand nickle and diming!) From my first day there I've felt they are concerned about me as a client and never tell me "just 10 minutes" and leave me sitting for 30+ like other salons just trying to get me in the door. Get this...I was once the annoying customer (yes, only once) who walked in 20 minutes before closing asking for a fill & pedi. I expected to make an appointment for the following day but the owner stayed after they closed to do my nails. I told him I'd be happy to come back but he took the time to do my nails himself (and didn't make me feel bad about it!). CON: During the weekends they are busy busy busy. Sometimes during the week I've walked in and they had to schedule me for the next day. ----Salon---- CON: They don't have a credit card machine so you have to bring cash. There is an ATM two doors down for a $2.00 fee. Even though they are all about basics I think that can be a good thing. They have a small shop which is clean and well maintained. They don't have flashy decorations or a modern storefront and don't have expensive massage chairs. If they do a pedicure its a heated tub brought to you. For the price, the quality of the service, and the attentiveness of the employees I'd happily trade in a flashy massage chair that looks nice but doesn't quite hit the right spots anyways. I've been looking for a better place in the Ventura area for wife and I and after seeing this place had the highest ratings of all the others we thought we'd give it a go. The people who worked there were nice and took care of us quickly. And that's where the positive comments end. Granted the cost of a mani/pedi is only $20 but I have to tell you I was pretty apprehensious the entire time. Why? Because nothing looked clean! Manicure - she gave us both a "normal" manicure but when she brought out the "tools" in an old funky looking glass (as in a glass you buy from Target to dring out of) I was praying she didn't nick me. Pedicure - The lady goes in back and brings back a plastic tub lined with plastic. Ok - I guess that's fine but then she reaches for the same damn glass with the tools in it. As she's clipping my nails and cuticles she just brushes it all on the floor and then snaps the towel when she's done sending stuff every where. I'm not a germ-a-phobe or an exceptional neat freak but I was really uncomfortable the entire time worrying about getting some infection from this place. It's one thing to get a great price on service but their efforts to stay low budget makes me question the safety and "healthiness" of the place. IF you want quick, affordable, no frills service and the idea of dirty / used tools doesn't bother you then this is the place for you. This place is great! I went here with my cousin after a couple of hours of shopping for a Vegas trip. They're very attentive to any walk-ins, even when busy with a customer. They have a pretty big color selection for nails. I got a pedicure, which was $15! Their version of a pediure consists of a blue plastic tub that comes to you filled with hot water. The chair you sit in is really comfortable. They didn't mind the nail polish I already had on, but I always feel bad that they have to do a little extra work. They're not like other places I've been to where they use new tools that are straight out of the wrapping but this place looked clean (tools also). They gave me a ten minute massage which was quite nice since I walk around a lot. I highly recommend this place! My cousin is gonna go back within the next week to get her eyebrows threaded for $5. read more

I'm on a budget so I came here because a manicure and pedicure is only 24. Not bad at all. I came at around 4p and there were lot if people. It seems that the store has a lot of regulars. The phones were ringing off the hook to make appointments so I'm thinking it's a popular place. The shop is clean. No frills. No fancy spa pedicure chairs. I don't mind though because the service and quality was still great. I didn't get the name of the woman doing my nails but she did an excellent job. I'm not too picky about my nails though. Let me say firstly , they don't even have the seats where you sit and get a pedicure they bring a tub to soak your feet . Anyways it's so old school supper raggedy in there . Staff is nice hands down make you feel comfortable . After one week only 5/10 nails made it and did I mention they are GEL!!! Their prices are the cheapest in town-$26 for a mani AND pedi so friends please tip well! They do only accept cash or check so make sure you have one of those. It is one of those salons where they remember every single person that comes to the door and are kind and welcoming to absolutely everyone. I get the gel mani and it was only 25$ and lasted two weeks- through washing dishes, bathing kids, cleaning.... My French Pedi looks great too. My nails were done by Lily, she took her time and did my nails perfectly, every step she would ask me to look if I like it or anything needed to be changed.
