We recently bought an old house with a very steep pitch that Element put a new roof on a year before. While performing attic work our handyman noticed a small leak by the chimney. Since our roof was still under warranty we gave a call to Element who said they'll come take a look soon. Unfortunately, there were several scheduling mishaps on their part which led to a bad initial experience but Suzie in the office and Chad came through. They did a great job fixing the leak, and months later when we noticed a different leak around the large skylight they were on it quickly. To solve the issue correctly they even did some metal fabrication work (the large flashing surrounding the light box) which they graciously covered under the warranty. Few more months went by before we noticed what seemed like a slight damage to several shingles on the south slope where the neighbor's tree guy dropped many Redwood branches during a heavy pruning job. Element concluded the issue was ultimately cosmetic but again, kindly replaced those shingles under warranty. Finally, last week we had termite tenting done which predictably caused some shingles on the ridge line to move out of place along with other minor damages. Chad came out quickly to do a full survey using a fancy drone and in a few days Roberto and crew showed up fixing the small issues. They really didn't have to but they did this work under warranty, which was a pleasant surprise (and a big relief given all the new homeowner bills!). Element replaced our roof and we are happy with the results. Not the lowest price, but I liked Chad's proposal and he is easy to work with, and professional. He pointed out problem areas that I knew about, and provided solutions on how to address the issues. One great selling point was any dry rot found would be fixed for the price of the wood. Quite a few roofing plywood were replaced. Some dry rot was found in my sidings too. Being an old house, matching sidings are not available. Element found the right size lumber and used a router and manufacture matching sidings. Lots of labor was required for repairing the dry rot. When the invoice came, I was only charged for the price of the wood. Other roofing companies charge up to $85 to $125 an hour labor, plus the cost of the wood to fix dry rot. Crew of 4 - 6 finished the job in 2 1/2 days. They arrived on time and were easy to work with. Importantly, cleaned up well each day. I highly recommend Element Roofing Systems. read more

Wow I had the best experience ever. I got 8 quotes and by far Lane at Element roofing was the most professional out of all of them. He took the time with me to explain the condition of my current roof and pointed out things that were clearly going on that I didn't know. He took pictures and went on the roof and sat with me for a good amount of time. Not once did I feel pressured it was so nice. We contacted a few roofing companies, including Element Roofing through Yelp to repair an area of our steep pitched roof where shingles had slipped off. One of companies was too busy and recommended Element Roofing. Of the three roofing companies I called we chose Element Roofing. I talked to Maddie in the office who was extremely pleasant and professional and we scheduled an appointment for an estimate. She asked some good questions to understand what our issues were and what we thought might have caused it. The day of the appointment Maddie called me in the morning to let me know that the estimator was going to be late and she gave a legitimate reason. I really appreciated the call. Chad arrived soon after. He was professional and friendly. He also asked good questions in understanding the project. After a thorough investigation and looking at all areas of the roof - not just the obvious problem area, Chad explained what he suspected was the problem. He gave some background technical information which he explained well. He pointed out a crack in a skylight and offered to replace that while they fixed the roof. He said an estimate would be emailed and it arrived earlier than expected. I procrastinated a few weeks and was reminded of the work to be done when the forecast called for rain. We were not experiencing any leaks in the roof or even in the crack of the skylight. I called anyway knowing they were probably flooded with calls. I spoke to Maddie and sure enough they had received a lot of repair calls. I told her we weren't in a rush since we didn't have any leaks. To my surprise one morning a few days later Element Roofing showed up to drop off shingles and supplies for the repair work. Saul and another employee (whose name I have forgotten) arrived sooner after. They were friendly and professional. They surveyed the work to be done (specifically the very steep pitch and height of our roof. I had to run an errand and said I would be back in a few hours. To my happy surprise, when I returned team had departed and the work on the shingles was complete. I was amazed that I couldn't even notice where the work had been done - the new shingles matched perfectly. The team replaced the skylight the next day. It was quick, easy, non intrusive and an overall great experience. I really appreciated that they squeezed my project in during what was a busy time for them. I thought i had cancelled the appt and was surprised to see him. told him i no longer needed service. Chad and his company saved me! I had issues with another company and had to start the process all over again. Chad made up for the other company's issues and restored my faith in contractors! He was very patient with all of my questions and inquiries and sent the best workers, Sergio and Freddy over. They were very detailed and treated my house like it was theirs. They left the yard cleaner than I had it and cleaned up as much debris as possible everyday. You can tell from day one these are good workers and worked super hard in the heat with no complaints. They were able to remove the old tiles, add plywood and underlayment, and replace the tiles. All new flashings, insulation, and seamless gutters. I sent a service request that night to Element and Chad, the owner, called and came out that next morning. We received a very reasonable quote later that day with a requested option for additional required maintenance work. We opted for just the repairs and the team completed the work over the next two days. I'll start with the positives. The torrential rain resulted in a roof leak. I called Element Roofing and they had someone at my door within the hour - Rudy. He inspected the problem and quoted me a cash price - then proceeded to "fix" the problem. I paid him immediately as agreed. The reason I wrote "fix" in quotes is because the problem wasn't resolved, and the leak persisted. I called Rudy back and he showed up again. Repeated the "fix" with some new steps. The leak persisted. I called him back - you get the idea... After 5 such visits and "fixes" (to which Rudy agreed without any hassle) and some more money (for his troubles), the leak still persists. And I am not able to get in touch with him anymore either - no response to calls or texts. I even called the office and was told to deal with Rudy directly - almost as if he had no connection to the company. Which was really odd and disheartening - because I would rather support a local company and expected better from them. At this point, I have had to call another roofer and spend more money to get a problem fixed right - after having spent a bunch already. Not happy with the quality of work. Not at all happy with the final output. And not happy with the lack of recourse in the matter - refund or fix the problem. Not a very good experience and would not recommend. read more

I have a 36 year old concrete tile roof. It is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. Maybe the concrete tiles will last forever, but the underlayment does not. My original roof was obviously installed cutting corners, using minimal products, and applying minimal building code techniques. After experiencing some minor problems I realized the tiles maybe intended as a forever product, but the underlayment materials were no longer affective and I was likely one rainstorm away from a horrible problem. I found Chad at the local Home and Garden Show. We talked, and he ultimately visited my home to offer his opinion and quote. Two things impressed me; one is he is a local, family operated company. He is not some big conglomerate with a lot of middle manager, useless employees. Second, he felt the majority of the concrete tiles were savable and he was willing to pick them up, set them aside to overhaul the underlayment, and then reset the tiles. This was nearly a $10,000 savings to me. His crew installed a new underlayment using superior (above code) techniques. He added extra protection in vulnerable areas. He replaced all cracked and broken tiles. He installed improved corner tiles. He installed additional roof vents, and all new gutters. His crew swept and cleaned up at the end of each day, and they were respectful to my property. I prefer spending my money with local companies. I like companies that say what they mean, and mean what they say, and Element Roofing is all that. His price was fair, and he was done in 4 days. I have spent years remodeling the inside of my home, and now have the assurance the inside will stay dry and protected from the outside elements. The feeling that comes with no longer worrying about roof leaks is amazing. If I had to do it all over again, Chad at Element Roofing would be invited back. read more

I'm updating my update....It rained and they didn't quite get the leak the first time. They walked the roof of my second floor and found another leak. They fixed it and didn't charge me because they originally told me they would find the leak and fix it no charge and they stuck to their word. Since then, El Nino rain has pounded my roof and no leak. Element Roofing did a great job. I will continuously refer people to them. They did an excellent job. Nice guys who stick to their word. I contacted Element Roofing for a couple of leaks I was alerted to when I had some custom windows installed. It rained pretty heavy during the install day and it was the installers noticing the leaks and alerted me. I was referred to Chad at Element Roofing. We had a small leak develop during the first rainstorm of fall, with water dripping through a light in our kitchen next to our skylight. It was our first problem like this in our decade at this house. Called Element Roofing based on location and Yelp reviews, worried that we were looking at an expensive repair. Twenty minutes after my first call, Chad was on the roof cleaning out some debris that had built up between the skylight and shingles, and we've been leak-free for two more days of rain. I found Element Roofing Via Yelp and based on the positive responses and being a small local company I wanted to give them an opportunity to quote me. 10 days ago I sent my 1st request via Voice Mail to Chad and then followed up with his answering service. I also sent him a text to his cell. The next day I sent a Web-Request for a quote at 9 days ago. I left a VM with the Answering Service 7 and 5 days ago whom they promised they would call me back. 3 days ago I called and actually talked with a woman who said she was the office manager and said she had my request in front of her and that she had not gotten back to me. She said i'll have someone at your house tomorrow at 3:15 pm. I took off early from Work so I could be here on time for them and arrived at 3 pm. 4 pm I called and again spoke to the office manager and said I'm still waiting for my estimator to come by. She had no idea where he was, but would call him and get me an estimated ETA. 4:50 pm rolls around she did not call and I got the answering service again and said I was still waiting for my estimator. The answering service said they would put a rush on the return call. NOTHING. Today I called again at 1 pm, the answering service again said sorry they have not returned my calls but would send an expedited message to have them call me back. It's 7 pm and now I'm still with a leaky roof and 10 days with NO returned call. I really wanted to support my local small business, but this is ridiculous. If you cannot or don't have time to give me an estimate, let me know. Refer me to someone who can help me. But after 10 days, I just want my roof fixed. read more
