Everything was great. The food the service. I would recommend this place if you are craving Mexican cuisine.

service was good, but my food wasn't. may be my fault, but I ordered the Hawaiian Quesadilla which was served with a salad.......Quesadilla was greasy and very mushy inside, most areas didn't have any toppings, cheese in it. and salad had a huge amount of sour cream on top...not eatable... the menu didn't mention anything about sour cream, and maybe I should had asked...but that doesn't make up for the BAD quesadilla. Elena's occupies the building next to Sonic, in the Food Lion parking lot, erstwhile the home of two other Mexican restaurants and a Greek place. Fun fact, a remnant of the Greek restaurant has remained in place for many years now, visible in the foyer's ceiling. The popular salsa bar in place during the Botanas and Beer era has vanished. The vegetarian menu eats like an afterthought, although I'm sure some customers will find available dishes here to their liking. Chips and salsa were about average. Service was lackluster, but they were understaffed during our meal so... The manager was friendly and engaging. Prices seemed fair. Cleanliness was good. read more

This place was not good, service was a bit slow. Odd being 1 of 5 tables at 6:30 on a Saturday night. Food was overcooked, the taquitos, the salmon, the rice, the refried beans. How do you make refried beans taste bad? The waitress seemed shocked we didn't want boxes. I don't have a dog and wouldn't feed it what I couldn't eat. The sliced Avacado was good. Elena's is a new Mexican restaurant in the Candler Food Lion shopping center, located in the same building where the old Botanas and Beer used to be. I was hesitant to eat here because of the poor reputation that Botanas and Beer developed. After hearing nothing but good things about this place, my husband and I decided to give it a try. We arrived around noon on a Friday for lunch. The chips and homemade salsa was perfect. The salsa was thinner than what I am used to at Mexican restaurants, but I prefer the thin consistency, so it was perfect for me. A little on the spicy side, but still delicious. I don't think this restaurant offers a salsa bar. I could be wrong since I didn't ask, but we didn't see one. Service was good. We were sat immediately upon entering the establishment and had no wait. Booth was clean. Ambiance was welcoming and not too loud. Drinks and chips arrived to the table quickly and our server was available when we were ready to order. My only complaint was that the churros I ordered never made it to the table. I rarely order dessert, but they looked good on the menu, so I ordered them. I guess she forgot all about them. I didn't bother reminding her because by the time we were done with our main course, I was full. Maybe fate was telling me that I didn't need dessert. Lol I ordered the beef enchilada lunch special with shredded beef and my husband ordered the El Pastore burrito. They both came with a side of beans and rice. And more importantly, the plates didn't come to the table overrun with extra accompaniments and garnish. The shredded beef in the enchiladas wasn't mixed with pico de gallo, which is perfect because I hate pico de gallo mixed in. I loved that there wasn't a mountain of lettuce covering my main course. Let's face it, no one enjoys having to move crap around on an already full plate and dig/hunt for their food. No shoveling required here. :) Husband said his meal was good; no complaints. The restroom location wasn't clearly marked but I still managed to find it. It wasn't the dirtiest one I've used, but it definitely could use some maintenance and cleaning. Overall, I thought the food was better than Papa's and Beer, and since it's closer to home, even better. We will definitely be back! read more

We were visiting Asheville and looking for a michelada, found this gem on google, when I saw the pictures of the siete mares soup I knew it was gonna be good. And I t was, didn't take pics of everything we ate but all was good and very affordable. My husband and I ordered the parrillada for two and it was delicious!!!!! My sister ordered the siete mares soup she loved it, spicy and the real thing with real seafood,no imitation crab highly recommend this restaurant!!!! We will come back . read more

Go regularly. I really appreciate the fact that the place has healthier options. They are much less fast food than many Mexican restaurants. Chips are always fresh. Nice atmosphere. Never too loud. The servers are friendly, and the food always arrives quickly. read more
