    Chimichurri Picado Brunch

Words can not describe how delicious the food was. The service was great and the music playing the background really puts the vibe of this place. Definitely will be coming here and has become a must next time in the area. I had their empanadas, and the chimichurri picado brunch. Extremely delicious you won't be disappointed. Oh and if you like strong coffee this place has the best.

Yes to Colombian food any time!... but not all know how to do it. This place did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was great!... the picture do not give it justice, not a good lighting for pictures, but the ambiance was cozy, perfect lighting for dinner time. We came back in the morning for breakfast and it was perfect. Sorry no pics. Defenetly worth the stop. Enjoy!

Jaunchos Fonda is an authentic Colombian restaurant in South Asheville. It is located in an unassuming shopping center and is easy to miss. Do not let the location deter you! The atmosphere inside is pleasant, cozy and fun. The staff is attentive and involved in the entire dining process. The gentlemen who cared for our party were patient, happy to answer questions about the menu and gave wonderful recommendations. Everything is made fresh to order, so this is not a quick dining experience. Rather, it's a place to come and sit for awhile to chat, sip drinks and take it easy. The menu has many options, and if you aren't sure what something is, just ask! My husband and I had different responses to what we ate, that's why I gave a 4 star rating for food. I loved my smokey chicken, the slaw and the plantains. My husband is a meat and potatoes kind of man, so he didn't care for the sides, but he did enjoy his steak. The drink menu is great...beware, the cocktails are strong! Definitely give Jaunchos Fonda a try when dining in S. Avl.

Juanchos Fonda is a small Colombian restaurant right off Sweeten Creek. The staff is very welcoming & will answer any questions about unfamiliar items on the menu. I've been three times and have been happy each time. My go to is the Lechon al Horno.

A "Bat Signal" was sent to me about another Ladies who Luncheon aka Dames who Dine, Sunday afternoon brunch/lunch. The only and main requirement is that it definitely had Gluten Free (GF) options. I personally have other health issues, but Gluten, lactose or vegan isn't on my radar. So, I myself had to ask for suggestions. The name Juanchos Fonda was highly recommended and designated GF Colombian restaurant. I had heard for several years that this little "hole in the wall/strip mall restaurant" was a hidden gem. Looking at the menu on Google/Facebook just didn't appeal to me UNTIL now. Juanchos Fonda is located at 2619 Sweeten Creek Road #10, Asheville. Several of the party made comments to the effect do you know how many times I have driven by and never knew that there was a restaurant inside or I have seen the sign, but never considered trying it. I arrived quite early to introduce myself, and confirmed that a large group was coming. Jayson introduced himself and a little birdie had already spoken with him the night before. He and his staff were preparing our tables so Ellie and I took a quick stroll down the walkway to visit Retro Coffee Shop and owner Carrie. Retro Coffee has a variety of options for coffees, teas and desserts/pastries The pastries are by @Jaz Bakes. Carrie continues to help those that might need a little something to tide them over, her very small food pantry is available. Carrie always welcomes any contributions for the pantry. I love their Chai Tea and The Mafia coffee named by the Asheville Food Mafia as our favorite flavor of five other options. We returned to Juanchos and the table was in the final finishing touches. Within minutes the entire 16 were making conversation, welcoming hugs and meeting new friends. The owner Jayson introduced himself, his restaurant's concept, the menu, his special of the day, and large party gratuity. Our server, Cesar, was taking cocktail orders and Jayson informed the table of the special in-house Sangria. Several people enjoyed the pitcher of Sangria (hopefully someone can add that photo). The restaurant has a full bar for a wide variety of cocktails. Several people order different cocktails; Bloody Mary, Mojito, Mango Madness and a few others that I didn't hear those names. I was having a difficult time trying to decide what I wanted to try (everything Jayson mentioned) but after hearing his description of the menu I decided upon Picada Manera it's like what I would consider a Pu Pu Platter. The dish included; whole Red Snapper, octopus, lobster tail, shrimp, fried mahi, yuca, tostones, sweet plantain, fries, chimichurri, tartara, and guacamole. Growing up my dad ALWAYS had baked halibut steaks. I absolutely hated that because of trying to get the flesh without swallowing a fish bone. Well some few years later, ahum, what do I order a platter with a Red Snapper with bones. The first bite was the most delicious, decadent, well seasoned fish that I have ever tasted. Who cares if I have to eat tiny bites! The flesh comes away from the bones and I couldn't stop, but there was so much more to try. The octopus could have been cut with a spoon no knife needed. It melted like butter when being eaten. I have had some rubbery octopus and squid in my lifetime, but definitely NOTHING this tender EVER. I shared a few SMALL morsels with the others, because I knew I couldn't eat the entire meal by myself. The lobster tail and shrimp was equally as tender and you could actually taste the meat, not just the marinade/seasoning. I did try a bite of everything else when it was still fresh and hot. The remaining will be consumed tomorrow for lunch.

This is a delicious Colombian restaurant and deserves their stars fellow Yelpers! I got a steak with chimichurri sauce with fries and also came with a salad/coleslaw type side, fried plantains and guacamole. Also had by far the best mojito I have had since moving here from Tampa.

We are already planning our next visit back. Excellent is an understatement. Fresh, flavorful. From mocktails with fresh fruit juice to incredible empanadas, grilled meats, and sauces. Even the cabbage slaw was tasty. Completely gluten free. Many dairy free and vegan options. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Totally unplanned last minute Sunday dinner here, very unassuming from outside, and indoor ambiance was very beautiful, our server was great, very attentive, prompt service, great host... food & drinks were totally unexpected and amazingly good!! This was my first time trying Columbian food (was expecting usual Mexican/ Honduran style food). My partner loved their steak & my vegetarian entrées were delicious!! Very reasonably (under) priced for the quality of food/ drinks/ ambience. Would definitely come back... soon!!

The first and only Colombian restaurant in AVL, boasting many authentic dishes from that country. The food was yummy and the service by Christian was excellent.

Literally a hidden gem of a find in downtown Greenville…read more.. We only found this place by visiting the Greenville Drive team store on a Saturday afternoon. Decided to check it out for dinner on a Friday night and was shocked it was so empty. It's only a matter of time before this place fills up! I'm assuming baseball season will have this spot packed. This is the second location (original is on woodruff rd). If you look up the other location- they have fabulous reviews and rightfully so. They have daily specials, lunch specials and happy hour! A DJ on Saturday afternoons as well as brunch. We sat at the bar and Vanessa took great care of us. She gave us great recommendations. I love that they make their own drink mixes! It makes all the difference in quality. We tried a mango mojito and Pisco passion. Both were yummy! Pisco passion is strong fyi. The mood for something filling/delicious was fulfilled and then some! We both got mofongos which come with your choice of plantains: sweet, green or trifongo. We only tried the trifongo with roasted pork (which was amazing) but our favorite was the shrimp al ajillo (garlic shrimp). For the record- last time I had mofongo this good & flavorful I was in Puerto Rico. Safe to say we LOVED everything about both dishes. Still thinking about the garlic sauce with the shrimp! Chefs kiss! And the crispy pork belly pieces on top of the plantains that just melt in your mouth! The Ribeye steak board was recommended by a local (also dining at the the bar). He RAVED about the steak and the sides it comes with. Apparently only this location has a magical creamed corn dish as one of the sides for the all steak boards. Will be back to see how magical it really is! Ambiance is hip & fun with a splash of casual elegance. Great for a family dinner, date night, girls night- whatever. The only downside to planning your visit here is the parking. No private lot & street parking is scarce. I believe there's a garage across the street? The food, drinks & service will make the parking situation worth it. Planning on coming back to try their brunch. Cannot wait!

Wow, we made a great decision trying Mama Juana Latin Fusion. We had an outstanding experience. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the host, we knew this was going to be something different. The host asked, and was genuinely excited when we told him it was our first time in. When the waiter arrived, he was excited to tell us about the menu, as well as the food itself. He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

The restaurant itself is really cute, clean, and has plenty of parking. Unfortunately, our experience started off on the wrong foot because the automatic handicap door button was broken. My boyfriend stood outside for several minutes trying to get it to work so he and his service dog could get inside. It was close to 100° outside, so that was really frustrating. I was still getting things out of the car and had no idea he was stuck outside because I never imagined something that important would be out of service. Eventually, an employee came over and opened the door for us. Our server was very friendly and attentive, so no complaints there. We ordered the morcilla with arepitas and an arepa with shredded beef, chicharrón, and chorizo. The morcilla was a disappointment. It was dry and mostly tasted like rice. My boyfriend has had morcilla at other Colombian restaurants before, and they usually have a much richer filling with meat and seasoning. This one just fell flat. My arepa was okay, but it really needed something. No cheese, no butter, no sauce, not even hogao. The shredded beef was dry, the chicharrón was chewy, and the chorizo was decent. Overall, it just lacked flavor. As we say in Colombia... it needed more sabor and a little more love. The passion fruit juice was really good, though. Overall, I'd give the food a 3/10.
