What an awesome find! We stumbled across Elephant cafe on Uber eats, after a long day on the road. We ordered on the app and then called the restaurant to confirm dietary restrictions and make a request on one of the dishes that we forgot to put in the comments. They were super gracious and accommodated our request. The food was well packed and super delicious. We had the fried rice, massaman curry and papaya salad. All three were amazing, but the papaya salad was the best of the three. We will definitely go back when we are in the area again. read more

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside the decor is beautiful and there are lots of booths to sit at. We were in a rush and managed to get in, fed, and out in about 40 minutes so service was quick and polite as well. The food was delicious. Been passing by this place for months and finally got a chance to eat here since most of the Thai around are close by 8pm. Service was great and food was better than our usual to go thai too. My brother in law's bit picky with asian cuisine also enjoyed the meal. The reason for the one star out is the big flying bug at the wall close to where we are seated. Ordered take from this place as it was near our house. We ordered our usual staples such as pad see ew, drunken noodles, Tom yum and green curry. For the price, felt the portions were rather small. The Tom yum felt very mild and mellow, minimal lemon grass/galangal/kefir lime flavors and tasted like a tomato infused chicken broth. The noodles dish were slightly bland. Curry was good, and we enjoyed it with rice. Overall, have to agree with the reviews that say the flavors are muted and less bold. read more

Elephant café is always my go-to Thai place when I'm at work! My coworkers and I have been going here for a few months now and we always find ourselves going back here. I've gone so many times, but I always find myself ordering the chicken Pad Thai lunch special. Such a good deal for what you get! Soup starter (delicious and flavorful), salad, rice and the entrée all for $8.99. I only had a bad experience with the Pad Thai once. I've also gotten orders to go and the process was really smooth. Yellow Thai curry was delicious! The flavor was great. We got level 3 spice which was perfect. We also got the spicy green bean with shrimp. Yesterday I didn't have a great experience! My food was ordered online and it came back wrong.... but today 6/21/2018 I went in with my wife and they totally made up for it!!! Here goes... We ordered the egg-rolls, and 2 lunch specials which were the Broccoli Beef and chow-mein with Shrimp! From the service to the food, everything came out in a fashionable time frame and they were just great overall... My server was AMAZING!!! I am sorry I didn't get his name, but he is the type of person you WANT to hire!!! All of them were so nice and accommodating!! Anyways food is authentic and spices were amazing! So far best Thai I've had in South OC. Food generally in the south OC has been pretty boring since we moved from LA- (so much flavor up there including Thai Town in Hollywood!!) Next time will order medium spice instead of mild. Green Curry was great and the Tom Kha Gai soup. I recommend the takeout through DoorDash was great. Will be ordering again. I've been to quite a few Thai restaurants in OC and this one is definitely at or near the top. First, and most important, it is very neat and clean; also the decor is bright and colorful. There are tables and booths. We were greeted and seated promptly and offered beverages right away. The drinks were brought quickly. The Thai Iced Coffee is the best I've had anywhere. Nice mild coffee and plenty of sweetness; it's hard to make a good TIC, but this place has made a great one. All the entrees were very good to excellent. We had Green Curry Chicken, Cashew Nut Chicken, Pad Thai, Teriyaki Beef and a surprising Pumpkin Curry with Pork that had the most flavorful sauce of the entire set of entrees. The desserts we ordered were excellent! The Mango with Sticky Rice was a masterpiece of sweet rice and fresh perfectly sliced mango. We also had bananas fried in a crispy won ton wrapper with a bit of chocolate sauce. Service was excellent. Looking forward to me next visit which I know will be soon! read more

They also have really cute cups, and tissue holders, and lights for the holiday season, etc., a homey environment. As for the food, we got tofu pad Thai, chicken pad see ew, and Tom ka soup. Portions were enough to fill my husband and me. We ended up taking some food home. And it was well seasoned and cooked. I've got to say this restaurant has THE BEST green curry hands down. I love Thai food. I have tried several Thai restaurants locally, and I'd say within a 100 mile radius of our house. Lucky for us, this restaurant is less than a 10 minute drive from us. I had eaten here a handful of times previously, but lately we had been going to a different Thai restaurant closer to our house (with the lockdown, we haven't been venturing out too much). But I decided, it's been a while let's try Elephant Cafe another try, and oh man I had forgotten how good the food is here! The green curry (I got it with tofu and medium spicy) was just delectable! It was rich and creamy, full of warm bold flavors and the thick consistency that makes the curry so yummy. I loved all the veggies, packed with eggplant, bamboo and bell peppers. They used soft tofu which I love, I'm not a fan when a restaurant uses fried tofu in their curry. In addition, we got the beef pad see eww and mango sticky rice. Both were very standard, but still very tasty! I was extremely satisfied with my takeout choice that evening. On previous occasions I have also tried the pad Thai (with shrimp and chicken) and that is equally a standard favorite of mine. I love Thai food. We are lucky to have a plethora of places near us in South OC to get very good Thai food. I didn't think this was one of them. We ordered from this restaurant via Door Dash. More of our food ended up in the trash than in our bellies. The only thing we really ate out of the four things we ordered were the Crab Rangoon. The chicken and beef in the Pad See Ew and Garlic Pepper Chicken were either overcooked or of very poor quality as the meat seemed really tough in both dishes. We barely ate any of these dishes before throwing away. I was really craving Wonton Soup but the wontons in this soup smelled really fishy and off and was a real turn-off and I ended up tossing this, also. With so many other great options for Thai food around us, I won't be ordering from here again. With the money with paid for the food and the lack of food we ate because of the very poor quality of meat and/or preparation and non-freshness of the wontons, it was hugely disappointing and I can find similar Thai/Chinese dishes of way better quality at other Thai restaurants near me. read more

Having recently moved to the south OC area, I was still looking for a good local, authentic Thai restaurant - I think I may have found it at Elephant Cafe! FOOD: The food was delicious. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup - Seafood Combo. I loved the fish chunks it came with. Many Thai restaurants I've been to skimp it on the meat - this place did not. You have the option of ordering small or large soup dishes. You also have the option of choosing it Vegetarian style or with chicken, beef, shrimp or seafood combo (shrimp, mussels, fish etc). We also ordered the Red Curry with Beef - which was also delicious. I tend to add hot sauce on my meals - I didn't do it on this dish and it tasted so good with no additional spice. read more
