Solid recommended ice cream, great adventurous flavors compared to solid competitors like earnest - however what i found a bit contradictory is while having good selection of interesting flavors they don't allow sampling- sounded business favoring vs customer. Tried a a flight of 4 flavors - mango sticky rice (v), hk milk tea, matcha honeycomb and butter sweet corn crunch- all were solid flavors, butter sweet corn and matcha honeycomb were my top Choices. I would imagine milkshake with HK tea would have been also a great choice. It is a small cozy area with mostly bench-like seating inside , some green plants made the ambiance look warmer. It was a polite service vs friendly and warm.
I've heard so many great things about Elephant Garden and I finally got to stop by during my most recent trip to Vancouver! Food: (4/5) I love that they specialize in Asian flavors, especially with mango sticky rice as the one they're known for. My partner and I shared a mini double scoop of that and the lilikoi cheesecake which is seasonal. After trying a handful of mango sticky rice ice creams, I think this one has been the most accurate to the actual dessert. I find that most lean either too coconutty or just have zero rice flavor. This one nailed it and I'm obsessed. As for the lilikoi cheesecake, I found it to be lacking in cheesecake flavor. It really could've passed as a sweet cream with lilikoi swirl. It was still yummy, just can't say it was cheesecake. My partner's cousin got the actual mango sticky rice with the ice cream on top. TOO good. The dense creaminess of the ice cream went so well with the chewy rice and fresh mango pieces. Service: (5/5) Not too much going on here. They're nice and check you out fast. One thing about this spot is that they don't do samples, so make your best judgement off of the flavor names or online reviews.
I've been coming to elephant garden creamery for quite a few years now. My all time favourite is their mango coconut sticky rice ice cream - dairy free, vegan, and absolutely amazing. However, recently their July rotational flavours really blew my friends and I away, so much that my friends have come 3 times in the last week. Their fresh mango ice cream was absolutely amazing, great flavour and not too sweet. I also really liked the lilikoi cheesecake. Who can resist passion fruit and cheesecake in a creamy ice cream? We decided to also try the float since it already contained a scoop of mango ice cream and it was super yummy! The mango at the bottom mixed perfectly with the sticky rice and coconut and it wasn't too thick despite having all those ingredients and the ice cream. There is some seating inside their cute little store, but due to summer, it can get quite busy on nice days and peak hours. The line up can also get quite hefty so I recommend coming during non peak hours (e.g. weekdays and on rainy/cloudy days) if you don't like to wait.

Elephant garden creamery always serves bright flavours which are pretty spot on, but they don't allow sampling which is a big disappointment, especially when there are new flavours that I might not know if I want over my go-tos. I also think they lean toward smoother ice creams, but I like the chunks and mix-in toppings. I had the key lime pie blackberry and strawberry panna cotta. They both had the fruit puree rippled into the base. The key lime was nice and tangy with some biscoff crumble! The strawberry panna cotta flavour was light and creamy. The mango sticky rice is usually my go-to and it has the subtle sticky rice flavour. The space is cute and airy with 3 small tables and one long one. There is residential 2H parking along the side streets of Commercial Drive
We went for the new rotational flavors during the ice cream festival. There were so many people lining up outside. Took around half an hour to just go in. There's also no taste sampling allowed. The flavors were good - we got fresh mango and aloha rocky road. The mango one was delicious and tasted like real mango. The rocky road one wasn't spectacular and was more like just normal chocolate ice cream with some chocolate and marshmallow pieces. The place is very clean though and there is seating on the inside. There's a public bathroom on the inside.

Really great location which is close to the skytrain and also nearby a bunch of great restaurants on Commercial Dr. Overall, can't go wrong with Elephant Garden for your next ice cream stop!

The mango coconut sticky rice did in fact taste like coconut and sticky rice but lacked any mango flavor. The HK milk tea had good tea flavor so I actually thought that one was better!

Always a favourite when we come to Commercial Drive! Our go to is the vegan mango sticky rice ice cream, amazingly creamy even without dairy with a refreshing coconut mango flavour. I learned they have a mini double option which lets even smaller eaters have a chance at having 2 flavours for dessert, which is amazing. No samples allowed here so be careful about what flavour you choose.
I visited Elephant garden to try Nomsmag cherry blossom festival limited item. What I got: Sakura Strawberry Matcha Latte Fresh BC strawberry sakura milk, premium matcha, condensed milk chantilly, fresh strawberries, salted cherry blossom. Sakura milk and condensed milk chantilly were good. Cold form was very creamy with plenty of cream on the top. Matcha flavor was a bit weak. I remember I got the same one(or very similar one) last year. Matcha flavor was a bit stronger last year's one. May be, it depends on who made it? Anyway, this place's signature is definitely ice cream, and I should have added ice cream on the top. Their ice cream are always great.
This place has good ice cream, but it's on the pricey side and doesn't allow samples, which is a bit of a drawback. I do like the decor and the fact that this place is clean and bright. The service could be better. We tried the mango coconut rice, Haw flakes hawthorn horse, iron goddess oolong tea with white peaches, and lavender London fog. The mango coconut rice and the iron goddess oolong tea with white peaches were the standouts and genuinely enjoyable. That said, the portion sizes are quite small for the price, so I'm not sure this is a spot I'd go out of my way to revisit, even if I were in the neighborhood.
We came bc we saw a video that this place had mango sticky rice with ice cream but we were told It was only sold during their festival In any case we got the mango coconut sticky rice flavor ice cream. When the ice cream hit my tongue, I can taste the mango flavor first and then the coconut flavor hit second . it was so creamy and Delicious ! On the other hand, I was sad about my strawberry matcha. I paid an extra 1.50 for 1 more scoop of matcha bc I don't like a milky matcha drink however the drink itself was rather bland. I think there should be more strawberry puree to aid in the flavor of this drink. Otherwise staff was pretty friendly and parking was paid street parking
I might have just been introduced to one of my favourite ice cream spots in the city! This place has Asian dessert flavours that I haven't yet found at any other higher end ice cream spot in the Lower Mainland yet. We ordered items of the Rotationals Menu - a peachy peach oolong and a hojicha cloud tea ice cream. Both of them were rich in flavour. The ice cream shop is small and busy, but still had seats available for us to enjoy our ice cream. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again read more

I went to Elephant Garden Creamery for the Vancouver Ice Cream Festival with one mission: order the Mango Coconut Sticky Rice Sundae. Then I reached the counter... and saw a sign that completely derailed my plans. It said that if you purchased two festival passport items, you'd receive a token for the gachapon machine. Well... I'm apparently very easy to influence. So instead of one dessert, I walked away with two. Mango Coconut Sticky Rice Latte Float This was a fresh mango coconut sticky rice smoothie topped with salted coconut cream, fresh mango cubes, and mango coconut sticky rice ice cream. The surprise was the little chewy balls of sticky rice hidden inside the drink--they made every sip more fun! The salted coconut cream balanced the sweetness nicely, and the whole thing tasted like a refreshing tropical dessert in a cup. Mango Coconut Slush Fresh mango slush topped with salted coconut cream and fresh mango chunks. If you're a mango lover, this one definitely delivers. It was fruity, refreshing, and perfect for a warm day. Now for the gachapon... I excitedly put in my token, imagining I'd win a cute sticker, a pin, or some adorable souvenir. Instead... Another passport stamp. Technically, it's still a prize... but let's just say my excitement level dropped a tiny bit. At least it saved me one more festival stop, so I can't complain too much. Overall, if you love mango, Elephant Garden Creamery absolutely knows how to turn it into a delicious dessert. This place lives up to the hype. Me not liking too much cream or overly sweet things, the tofu pudding flavor was my favorite. A slight hint of tofu and sweetnees made this the perfect level of blandness ever. I enjoyed it so much. It is a rotational flavor so get it while it's here. The mango sticky rice was also delicious too, definitely on the sweeter side with the mango puree. Coupled with the recognizable taste of coconut in the main ice cream, the 2 combined to be a good combination. The sencha cloud tea was good. Gave a mild taste of sencha, nothing super overpowering. The last one was the HK tea which was my least favorite despite being Yelps top popular dish. I think this one is a little more acquired but if you know you like HK milk tea flavor, then go for it. This place has plentiful seating and tables with outlets to study and do work. Ambiance is nice and clean. Only downside here is they do no allow sampling of flavors but I guess that's why the have the flight. Would definitely recommend trying this place. read more
Honestly super disappointed that there were no taste samplings. They had a lot of cool flavors that I would have liked to try before making my decision. We needed up going with the safe choice of Hojicha and HK Milk Tea. It was good but nothing crazy. There is plenty of seating and a bathroom. read more

Came for Noms Mag limited ice cream fest mango sticky rice flavours, got the float and I hit a new high. Rave all you want about the classic mango sticky rice, but if you love coconut milk sweet sauce and mochi bites as much as I, the float? yea, that's your guy. [Ok update 07/30: it felt a bit lackluster the second visit. I'm missing the mochi bits in the drink. Also tried the classic sticky rice this time. The toasted mung beans (?) were a bit strange for texture since- it did not feel enjoyable biting into.. It's good but for the price, maybe getting the ice cream pint is a better angle. They can keep the 4* but I'd love to see some consistency. ] Visited again for milk tea and it tasted exactly like the bottled Kirin Milk Tea you can get at stores. BAR FOR BAR. Not sure if that's their secret but if it is, good on them - it's def yummy. I do enjoy a richer HK milk tea so it'd be super cool to see if it's reworked to be even richer hehe. read more
I heard so many good reviews about Elephant Garden Creamery, so I finally went. It's disappointing they don't offer tasting. I ordered the coconut mango sticky rice, and it was quite a lot sweeter than I expected. Can't really taste the mango from the mango puree, it would be nice if it had some small mango chunks and more acidity. I notice they have pint of durian ice cream for sale, but no single scoop is available. It would have been amazing if they allow tasting, or at least offer durian flavor in single scoop before I spent $18 to buy a whole pint. read more
I found out about Elephant Garden Creamery from social media. The place I was staying at just happened to be walking distance giving me the perfect opportunity to try it. I love how unique the flavors are but given the no samples, I just had to get a split cup since I wasn't willing to commit to one flavor. Most of my friends ended up getting one of the mango flavors. I'm not a big mango person so I got the Matcha honeycomb nugget and jasmine tea cloud and strawberries. Between the two, I enjoyed the matcha one more. I was pleasantly surprised by the honeycomb chunks. The jasmine tea cloud and strawberries just didn't particularly stand out to me. It wasn't bad but I would rather try a new flavor than get it again. There was a pretty long line when I got there. It does go relatively quickly. The no samples rule makes a lot sense given their line. read more

First trip back to Vancouver since moving out of country - I had been thinking of this place and the quality deliciousness that is their mango sticky rice ice cream periodically over the last 5 years. There is a place in San Diego that has sticky rice ice cream, and as soon as I tried it I said no..Elephant garden was way better. So coming back after so many years, I'm so glad it did not disappoint. It tastes just as I remember it. Absolutely excellent. The pandan comes through soooooo nicely. My husband also got a scoop of taro which was real delicious taro. Also, the matcha honeycomb nugget - omfg... absolutely ridiculous. SO good. I love sponge toffee and I didn't realize that's what would be the honeycomb nugget. This was a total match made in heaven for me. I love matcha. I looooove sponge toffee. It was so smooth, perfect amount of matcha in my opinion, not bitter but not overly sweet. This was the most favorite scoop of matcha ice cream I've ever had so far in life. Whoever is developing the recipes here has an incredibly good palette and knows exactly what they're doing. Flavors & texture are so on point, not sickly sweet. The quality is fantastic and I am so glad it hasn't changed. I could not recommend more highly. read more
So many Asian inspired flavours! Came by at around 9pm and it was very busy but the line moved quickly. I like the ambiance of the place - it's very modern. I got the Thai iced tea flavour per the staff's recommendation and I enjoyed it. I tried my friend's mango sticky rice and it was really good. I'd be keen to come back to try their drink menu. read more

Lovely experience after finally getting here not knowing EGC is closed on Tuesdays! Was in a workshop with someone who said she went to EGC and I immediately said, "Oh! Did you have the mango coconut sticky rice?!" And we both gushed about it. read more
I got the mango sticky rice latte and I thought it was made very well. It was not too sweet and it was refreshing. Since it was on the thicker side (there was a sticky rice slurry on the bottom and mango pieces), it was almost like a dessert rather than a drink. I'd definitely get this again! read more
They have so many unique Asian flavours! The mango coconut sticky rice immediately caught my eye and we got a scoop of that and Vietnamese coffee. Both were flavourful without being too sweet. Even though we went at 9:30pm on a weeknight the lineup was out the door. It moved fast though and I even managed to get a seat. read more

My friend and I went to try their new monthly March flavours recently and I really loved the Mango Pudding! It tasted exactly like mango pudding and was very smooth and creamy :) My friend also enjoyed how hers (Pandan Kaya Toast) had pieces of kaya toast throughout. Their monthly rotationals are definitely worth checking out since I feel like they always have very unique Asian inspired options. read more
Innovative ice cream shop with an emphasis of Asian flavors. I like the ice cream texture of this place - very smooth, thick, and devoid of ice chunks. I also liked the flavors themselves - my favorite was the seasonal black sesame rice ball (though I still dearly miss the black sesame tangyuan ice cream that I had in Hong Kong). The mango sticky rice in the permanent menu was pretty good too. Matcha honeycomb is good but not really my own preference. The peach tea one was pretty floral. Overall, decent price for high quality ice cream. Only downside is no sampling so you will have to just trust the picks. Normally I would dock a star for this but it seems like you can't really go wrong with any flavor you pick here, which speaks volumes to the quality of the ice cream here. Not the best ice cream I had but still high up on my list. read more

I loved this place when I first tried it. Their Mango Coconut Sticky Rice ice cream blew me away. Really wish I could give them a higher rating again, but this time it was quite disappointing. They had special flavors featured for Asian Heritage Month so we decided to buy a couple of pints to bring home. They were quite expensive too. Each pint was about $12 or maybe even $12.50. We bought Egg Tart ice cream and Honey Chrysanthemum ice cream. The Egg Tart ice cream didn't taste at all like egg tart. It was the biggest disappointment. The Honey Chrysanthemum was better. We could actually taste the Chrysanthemum flavor; however, it was quite faint. Stronger flavor would have been better. I would still go back for their Mango Coconut Sticky Rice ice cream because I am totally in love with that flavor. Don't think we'll ever buy any more pints from this place again though, without first being able to try the flavor and know for sure that we're buying a good ice cream. read more

Been wanting to try this spot for the longest time and so happy I finally did! I highly recommend getting the flight if you want to try a bunch of flavors because it comes with 4 kids scoops here are the staple flavors we tried Matcha honeycomb - strong matcha flavour but we felt the honey comb pieces were a bit too sweet even though they were fun to chew Mango sticky rice - this one was our favourite of all of them and really reminded us of coconutty mango sticky rice! So happy this is a year round flavour For seasonal flavours we tried Jasmine tea cloud with strawberry - which was surprisingly floral and the strawberry added a pop of sweetness. I was surprised as to how strong the tea flavour was Yuzu lemon butter - we didn't detect any butter or lemon and it was heavy on the yuzu flavour.
