This is the worst Dealer in US / IL. They sell used cars from other States possible from floods. My friend just had the worse experience. They sold her a car which did not last a day before the lights in dash started coming on. Sales guy is George put her in a Lemon at 26 percent interest rate. The States Attorney needs to investigate them. Hyundai US needs to take away their license. The owner needs to fined and lose his Dealership. He lied and pretended to be competent until I wired the money for a certified preowned Palisade . Once he got my money and I asked for title to ship the car he became rude and irate . Cursing on the phone and hanging up on me . That was just the beginning of my misery when the car was delivered it was dirty , seats stained , car smelly with strong cigarette smells and scratches and scuffs on the inside and outside . My first experience with the service department went well, so I was wondering why all the negative reviews? Now I know! The service department ordered a part for my Santa Fe that was covered under warranty, about 4 or 5 months later I checked in with them, still no part. I'm a patient person and I figured maybe it was a supply chain issue so I sat back and waited another several months and finally called them back. I was told,"Oh yea, your part is here waiting for you." so apparently they do not like to let the customer know when their part arrives. O.K., so maybe it was an oversite. So I go to the dealership, and wait in the customer waiting area, and after about 2 hours a service representative comes to get me and tells me, bad news...they never painted the part for your car!! so now, after about 7 months, give or take, I still don't have the part for my car. We would like to thank Carlos, the sales manager and sales associate, Chris Biggs of Elgin Hyundai for coming to our rescue after Patrick Hyundai failed to secure the vehicle that we had signed a deal for and also had left a deposit on. We contacted Carlos on Thanksgiving eve. He actually order us the Tuscon Hybrid Limited right then and there over the phone and said he would honor the deal we had worked out with Patrick. Two days later we met with him and Chris Biggs. They were friendly and honest, informing us that they thought they could secure the car from another dealer but if not, another one was on order. Through out this entire process, Chris kept us informed of the auto status. To our delight and surprise, they delivered the car we wanted just three days later. Finalizing and completing the paperwork was smooth and without any surprises. Even the finance manager, Vince Vitale, pointed out how we could obtain a refund from the unused portion of our trade in's extended warranties. I came in for an appointment to look at a 2025 Hyundai Tucson, with an incredible sales advisor, Christopher Biggs. He was very attentive, connected about the car industry as I am in it as well. I wanted a good deal, so got to haggling numbers. I've always been told, it never hurts to ask, worst they can say is no. They wouldn't budge on the out the door price, so I politely asked for my keys back that they held behind the advisors counter. Instead of a kind interaction. I was verbally yelled at by 3 "sales managers". Caesar, up until this point was kind about negotiating the price. I was so close to my desired price (by $1k), but that threw them all over the edge. Steve V - keep in mind I have never talked to this man at all today, yelled at me to "get out! Just leave!" As my keys were still in the dealerships possession. I walked out kind and calmly. I've never had an experience ending as poorly as it did today. Please think twice before buying Elgin Hyundai. I've had my 2022 Tucson for almost 2 years now. They gave me 3 years of free oil changes and inspections on my vehicle. I just had my oil changed about 2 weeks ago and they also inspected a rattling noise that they fixed and then started again the next day. After making me wait in the dealership for 4 hours before offering me a ride home (also 30 weeks pregnant btw so very uncomfortable sitting there that long) It started to smell bad when I started my car so I checked the cabin air filter (which they said they did during the "inspection" and it's absolutely disgusting. There's no way they checked this and it took 2 seconds to pull it out and look. Makes me wonder what else they are skipping during their inspection. I know the oil changes and inspections are free but I'd rather pay if they aren't even going to do what they are saying. read more

I took my car at around 11:00AM and they were really busy which I understand in the house for show back home cause I knew it was gonna they told me it was gonna take two hours and then they said it'll be done by two. they never called me and I tried to speak to a manager never got a hold of one tried to speak to them again. They either hung up on me or Didn't answer me then when I finally got a hold of somebody that said it was done and I called about 14 times I didn't get answers to see if my car was done to see if somebody would send me a shuttle and they never did and I had to go pick it up later and around close to 4 o'clock And when I walked in there, I didn't get an answer didn't get a response from anybody and no apologies. no they would've called me and said hey little busy will come pick you up in 30 minutes. I wouldn't of made a big deal out of any of this. I also tried to speak two different managers and I left them both a message and they never responded back to me so now I've emailed corporate online and I let them know about it. read more

UNWANTED ADD-ON DEALERSHIP. Their website shows the price of their "Hyundai Certified Pre-Owned" vehicles. At the bottom is says said "not including tax, title, and doc fee of $358.03". That's pretty standard. I called ahead to make sure Certified Pre-owned meant what it said and that it was included. They confirmed it was. Also asked if there was any added warranties/expenses; as some shady dealerships have a tendency to try to legally steal, using that method. The assured me that the price was the price, plus the 3 standard items. (Tax, title/license, doc fee). Tried to do a deal...Purchase agreement came back with this car at its listed price, a $2K upcharge for some paint protectant thing, and something like $2800 for the Hyundai Certified Warranty that was "included". Final price was nearly $8000 more than the list price.... On a three year old car with 55k miles. Not only did I drive 3 hours one way, but they also wasted several hours of our lives holding us there. I don't understand how they sell a single used vehicle, using these tactics. read more

Dealership uses deceptive practices. Will be filing BBB and FTC Complaint. They advertise discounted price that includes Freight on their website. Then when I was at the dealer the numbers they were coming up with were much higher. They kept telling me they had to charge freight as they have to pay it but I couldn't quite get the numbers. It appears they will do what they can to get you in the door, but they just waste your time. When I returned home, I saw the price online included freight already (see attached photos) so they were charging it back again at the dealer to make more money...When I gave them this feedback, their GM Mike called to give me new pricing. I tried to explain my concerns but he did not want to hear it, and was quite rude. Essentially hung up on me as he was only interested in getting a deal done. I don't think they get it...if they offered me a better deal than I was already getting I wouldn't have bought with them as they lost trust in their deceptive practices. If they were up front and needed that $1,000 they should have not reflected it as included in their online pricing already. Their site also advertises they use KBB trade in values and allow you to calculate your payment using that information. However at the dealer they do not offer you close to that value. So in general the website seems to be a tool to bait you to the dealership for pricing that is not valid. I do not recommend this dealer and I made a deal with another dealership.. If you need a Hyundai in this area, I strongly recommend you try Wilkins Hyundai, Patrick Hyundai (Schaumburg) or Palatine Hyundai. They are much more transparent about their pricing, not confusing, and clear about add-ons they are charging for. If you do decide to buy from Elgin Hyundai, I strongly suggest you triple check all numbers on your bill before signing anything (They scramble up the numbers a bit on the sheet they first provide you vs other dealers which lay them right out. They also slip in various add ons without explaining them up front). read more

About a week ago I called looking to see if they had any 2022 Hyundai Elantra. Was told they had 1 that would be in at the end of May so I decided to make an appointment. I told the sale person I wanted a bill of sale without any added warranty or extra items. The salesman came back a few min later stating "they no longer have the car". At this point I was upset because I just wasted about an hour of my time because I was just told 1 would be available by the end of the month. Today I get a call from the manager of the dealership and was told that they still had the car available and to come in and discuss the car. I decided to go back in and see what he had to say. Well after they appraised my truck they came back with a bill of sale with an extra $5393 added. The extras added were the following: Elgin Hyundai Pro pack - $1399 Resistall - $1995 PRO PAC - $1999 When I asked why these items were being added the sales man told me that they have to charge me this because they don't have any cars in anymore and this is a "fee" for purchasing the vehicle because demand is so high. He then proceeds to tell me if I can't afford the vehicle then maybe I shouldn't buy it... Sorry it's not that I cannot afford this vehicle it's the fact that I refuse to pay for something I do not want added. Agree with all of the one star reviews. Buyer beware. A used car listed at $21,903.00 quickly became a car that I was to pay over $28,000.00. A lot of very bogus fees I have never seen during any car purchase were added, including the Elgin Protect Fee (door edge guard, wheel edge guards, wheel locks, mud flaps, all season floor mats, accent striping, nitrogen fill). Guess what? There was no accent striping on this used vehicle, the car mats were the used, original carpet Hyundai mats (not all season floor mats) that the first buyer had bought, mud flaps come standard on this Hyundai model. I was told under no circumstances would this Elgin Protect Fee be taken off the quote. Also the price I was looking for was written down and I had to initial it. Never ever have I had to do this at any other dealership during the negotiation process of initialing on a document. I have been buying new and used cars for over 40 years. This was the worst car dealership tactics I have seen in my many long years on this earth. I drove 45 miles from the city for this scam artist dealership. What a horrible waste of my time. They will lure you in with their very nice Internet employees and then the shadiness begins. Do your homework and find a good dealership, they are out there. Verify all of the extra costs by comparing with multiple trustworthy dealerships. Ask the salesman and finance person to step away, so you can go over what the costs are. Look for these hidden bogus fees. Do not feel pressure to sign. Also do not buy maintenance and protection plans or any other plans., i.e.. ELGIN PROTECT FEE. Zero if I could. This all started a while ago buying a used car with the finance is gonna be about $40,000 on a lemon that needs an engine for the fell year we've owned the car. This has been going on since day one the car had no oil in it upon purchase. Go in for free oil changes and old oil filter still on vehicle with no oil to short oil dirty never changed they also bribe for five star reviews. All of these one star reviews are dead on accurate management will not call you back they will ghost you but they'll take your money. I'm gonna start documenting all of my service experiences and communication with them in here. My next step is the BBB short of parking this car on their lot waking away from it with a ton of signage in it to not buy a vehicle from them you will regret it. The few that are happy or lucky most are not. Bait-and-switch business practices; you can't trust the price they quote you. We bought a car today after comparing and negotiating the car price at various dealers across the Chicagoland area. Elgin gave us the lowest price, and we got the ABSOLUTE FINAL FIXED PRICE in writing via email and put down a $500 deposit. Preparing to fill out the paperwork on site, the price was ~$2,000 higher and we had to argue at length to have them agree to the price they'd quoted. Then we found an ADDITIONAL $799 fee for "Protection Package" -- i.e. a bunch of add-ons we didn't want or wouldn't use, like Nitrogen-filled tires, door edge guards, pin striping, wheel locks, and unlimited car washes. Brian, the manager, initially refused to negotiate, basically admitting that he'd given us a very good deal on the price, so he was including a package of add-ons to make up the difference on his profit. After another lengthy argument, he FINALLY agreed to take it off the bill. The whole thing felt pretty sleazy to us. read more

I spent 3 hours negotiating a price and was told by Jay T (sales manager) I could have the night to think about it as it was an overwhelming and large first time purchase. I called the next morning to ensure the car was there, which it was. I want to make it clear I was never told to put a deposit down, I definitely would have! When I drove 1.5 hours to the dealership the car was bought and they tried to sell me one with different seats. Jay T did not provide a singular apology, 0 empathy, and 0 integrity. Jay T raising his voice at a young person in their 20s in front of potential customers is a weird way to handle business. They made no effort to swap from another dealership nor tried to ship it from the factory. Extremely disappointing and quite disgusting to take advantage of a young individual. The customer waiting center is disgusting. I have been coming this dealership for a year now for oil changes after purchasing a used Audi. While in the waiting area about an hour, hour in a half, I have never once seen an employee clean, disinfect, or sanitize this area. With Covid being a hard hitter on shutting down business because of cross contamination, this business seem to not care. They have a complimentary beverage machine that Ive seen multiple people utilize and no once was it wiped down. Another issue is I purchased a maintenance packet with my car (used Audi) which i can only use at this dealership and each time I schedule an oil change I am questioned why I coming to the dealership because they are Hyundai. Duh I know!! Look at the history and my profile! Also they (Mike) questions me if they have the oil filter on hand because they don't carry it. That is not my responsibility to know whats on hand. What can I say here that hasn't been said in almost every other review? Probably nothing. Bait and switch. MSRP price listed on sheet. Sales guy tells me all the good stuff on it. Negotiate trade in value and sit down. And the price of the car is $6,400 more. $3,000 "market adjustment" and another $3,400 for the "extras" that were added on that I was told about during the test drive. But I was not told those weren't baked into the MSRP price on the sticker. Manager waived the market adjustment after complaining but would not budge on the other $3,400 so I walked. And guess what? I talked to two other dealers the next business day and both were willing to give me the car I wanted at the MSRP. I was a customer here 12 years ago and the experience was much better. Went in and met with Tyler. Told him I had spoken to someone earlier. He brought the car right out and let me go on the test drive.
