What can I say here that hasn't been said in almost every other review? Probably nothing. Bait and switch. MSRP price listed on sheet. Sales guy tells me all the good stuff on it. Negotiate trade in value and sit down. And the price of the car is $6,400 more. $3,000 "market adjustment" and another $3,400 for the "extras" that were added on that I was told about during the test drive. But I was not told those weren't baked into the MSRP price on the sticker. Manager waived the market adjustment after complaining but would not budge on the other $3,400 so I walked. And guess what? I talked to two other dealers the next business day and both were willing to give me the car I wanted at the MSRP. I was a customer here 12 years ago and the experience was much better. By being a first time car buyer in my 20s, after saving up for 1.5 years I was extremely excited to purchase here! I spent 3 hours negotiating a price and was told by Jay T (sales manager) I could have the night to think about it as it was an overwhelming and large first time purchase. I called the next morning to ensure the car was there, which it was. I want to make it clear I was never told to put a deposit down, I definitely would have! When I drove 1.5 hours to the dealership the car was bought and they tried to sell me one with different seats. Jay T did not provide a singular apology, 0 empathy, and 0 integrity. Jay T raising his voice at a young person in their 20s in front of potential customers is a weird way to handle business. They made no effort to swap from another dealership nor tried to ship it from the factory. Extremely disappointing and quite disgusting to take advantage of a young individual. Do not buy a car from here. My mistake was not looking at the reviews beforehand and buying a used sonata from this place. I had to leave the car for a week at the dealership to get the whole roof repainted because the paint came off upon them removing the sticker that states the year of the car. Three days after picking up the vehicle (Wednesday), the check engine light came on (Saturday). I went on a Monday morning to get it checked out. Brought the car in at 8am and was told the car just needed a SIMPLE oil change and was ready for pickup at 2pm. On my way home, the engine light came back on and the car was not accelerating at all. This means they just cleared the code and did not do a proper diagnostic. To add, I live 20+ miles away from the dealership and it is inconvenient to constantly go back and forth. I was at Elgin Hyundai 4 times that week for the car. I took matters to my own hands and scheduled an appointment at a Hyundai dealership closer to my area (since the service department at Elgin Hyundai was horrible). The quality of service was visible upon entering! I pulled in the service department and someone was there ready to great me by name. I explained the situation to them and reassured me they will take care of the car. After a couple of hours, they called and told me that they found a major problem with the vehicle and stated, "So you bought this car a month ago? They essentially sold you a car with a check engine light on which is not cool. I see you took the car to them in July. Did they really not tell you the problem the car has? They just let you drive off like that? All they did was clear the code. I can't see which Hyundai dealership you took it to, but I truly advise you to never go back to that dealership." The technician was honestly stunned by my situation and kept repeating how could they just let me go with an oil change when that obviously wasn't the solution to the problem! My window was shattered as well as my steering column ripped out which is why my car was here for repairs. Once my car was finally done I was disappointed to see that all the broken glass was still in the car (seats and floor). I understand all dealerships may not vacuum the car out but to fix a shattered window and internal steering column, they clearly worked around broken glass and still decided to leave it. Had to get engine replaced less than a year after getting it, took 3 months for that to happen made me jump through hoops service department is rude and unresponsive. I had an excellent experience at Elgin Hyundai! Dan Struwing was a high quality salesman who made the experience as smooth as can be. I have not had to buy in 10+ years and was buying my second car ever. When I showed up at the dealer I wasn't even sure on what exactly I wanted in a car. Once I was at the dealer, Dan made sure to give me his undivided attention and information on all of the options available. After I nailed down some of my "must-haves", Dan looked at all the cars they had that would meet all of the qualifications. That night I looked in many vehicles and test drove a couple before deciding that the Hyundai Tucson would be my best fit. However, I wanted to think it over and look at some other options (even outside of Hyundai). Dan was very considerate and did not take offense to this at all. After looking around, I ended up coming back to Elgin Hyundai just two days later. Nothing I saw compared to the look and feel of the Tucson. Dan was happy to help me out again once I arrived back at the dealer. I originally told him I had wanted a dark gray color so he had found the perfect one for me to test drive. I loved how the car drove and was excited with all of the features the 2019 model had to offer! However, I now decided that I wanted to have a white car. Dan was very understanding and again found the perfect car to meet all of my qualifications... this time in white. He made sure that I test drove that one and liked it before making any final decisions. He explained everything about the features within the vehicle and made sure to answer any questions I had. Once I officially decided on the white Tucson, Dan patiently walked me through the rest of the buying process. I always felt very well informed. He even took me around to meet the Finance personnel and Service team who would be taking care of my car. Before leaving with my new vehicle purchase, Dan made sure to walk me through the car one more time and answer any last questions. I felt very taken care of and liked that I have the option to call back after the purchase on any additional questions that may come up. It is expected to have to pay overprice for a car for a dealership, but you can still look for the best deals. This dealership will make sure to make you fight for every last penny. They lure you in online by having a great sale or deal on a "new" car you want. However, they do not disclose online that the car has such a great price because it is a service or loaner car. Therefore, it may not even be at the dealership when you arrive for your promised "new" car or it may have a couple thousand miles on it. It is a couple thousand miles, say less than 20 or 10k, but not being transparent about that from the beginning and saying it only when you arrive makes them a bigger shark compared to other dealerships. Not only do they use sneaky tactics to lure you in but they smack a high price package onto your final cost. For instance, they add an inland freight charge (the cost of shipping for them to receive the car from the manufacturer). No customer should pay for this charge. The dealership tries to dump this expense on customers so they can make an extra profit. They tell you the MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price), but know this is already higher than the invoice (what they paid for the car and shipping). I understand them making you pay higher than what they bought the car, but to slap on shipping again is ridiculous. The MSRP essentially includes shipping because it is higher than the invoice which included shipping. Go to a dealership that will not try to dump this expense on you. They also force you to buy an "Elgin" pro pack that you do not need. Say you don't live in Elgin? Too bad. They claim you have to buy it and claim they won't sell you the car without it. Everything you need is already included with the warranty from Hyundai. You do not need this pro pack. I'm still not done describing the extra costs they try to slap on the bill. They make you buy $1,000 "resistall" which is interior and exterior "protection." The manufacturer already adds corrosion protection, so this is completely unnecessary and just another profit the dealership tries to make. If you really want to protect your interior, you can just get a spray from a local supermarket like Walmart for a fraction of the price. In sum, do not go to this dealership. BAIT AND SWITCH! SCAMMY DEALERSHIP. I just purchased a 2022 Tuscon here. The car is fine. What is not ok is that you can price out the car online using their "Express Store". This is marketed as a way to price out your car transparently, save time and basically allow you to just come in, pay and take the car. I did this. The dealership, however, did not honor this price. I was required to purchase several "add-ons" to the tune of almost $3k in order to take the car. It was a take it or leave it situation. They said it was because of the ongoing market demand for vehicles. So I took it. I definitely feel scammed. I actually have no problem paying over MSRP for a car - I get it. Current supply and demand dictates this. But the way this dealership operates should not be rewarded. If they had been upfront about their pricing I would have at least left with a car and feeling that I dealt with an honest dealership. Do not reward this dealership. if I could rate this dealership a 0 I would, here's my issue. the car amazing the salesperson awesome. The finance team I rate to be sneaky and underhanded and not trustworthy. I co signed for a car for my daughter turns out they didn't put her name on the paperwork at all and had the audacity to transfer the plates from her trade in to this new car that had my name all over the paperwork, my daughter signed several documents turns out they used her name as the co-signer to me when I have a credit score of 780. Explain that when I called the dealership and spoke with the manager over the business he told me that this is how Illinois requires co-signers to be on the paperwork. Flat out lied to me I called the DMV because now the plates have my daughters name on there which would have been correct IF they put the car in her name. In order for this to be fixed the dealership Elgin Hyundai would have to redo the entire deal which at this point I believe they won't do since I have called them several times and they are now ignoring me. WARNING! This place is really dangerous for your car and your wallet, The mechanics are liars! We came in on Tuesday for an AC problem. They told us that it was the AC compresor, which I think now it was not true! They made us pay for 999 for repair. I notice my car different after that day, and the next days too. So what happen on Sunday the oil of my transmission spilt out I mean all of it. Causing my car to give out on us on our way home. We were stranded and afterwards had our trusted mechanic take a look and said one of the bolts from our transmission had been unscrewed and on purpose! Don't trust this place at all! I purchased a Certified 2015 Sonata from the Elgin Hyundai dealership 2 weeks ago. There are 2 reasons for the bad review - both pre-sale and post-sale. 1) Pre-sale: I was only considering certified vehicles, not regular used. I picked the car that I liked in the "Pre-Certified" category of their website, so I went to the dealership knowing specifically what I want to see and its price. When discussing numbers with the sales person (Mitch) and the sales manager (Jim Urso), they tried to charge me almost $2000 for certification (I've seen other reviews mention this too). Again, this car was already listed online as pre-certified so any certification fees were already part of the asking price. There can't possibly be any additional certification costs added by definition - the car is already listed as pre-certified (common sense). But apparently they still try to upcharge people for that. I stood my ground and eventually they gave in and agreed that there won't be extra fees for certification. I wasn't even planning on posting a review (although people really should be aware of this, otherwise you'll get taken advantage of), if not for the post-sale problem. 2) Post-sale: This car had numerous significant scratches, which was a big problem for me. I called before coming over and they said that they checked and the car had no damages at all (lie!) . I was considering several other Hyundai dealerships that had the exact same certified car but without scratches. I clearly expressed my concern and after walking around the car with Jim (Sales Manager) and pointing out all the scratches, he agreed to fix them. I wanted to understand clearly how much of an improvement I can expect so I asked about the method that would be used to fix the scratches. Jim explained that because they can't repaint the whole hood or the whole panel of the car that has scratches, they would have a professional painting company tape up the area around each scratch and spray paint it with matching paint. He said that upon looking closely, I would still be able to tell that a scratch was there before but it would be a significant improvement and the scratches wouldn't be very noticeable at all. I agreed to those terms and had them written into the purchase contract. I bought the car and brought it back when they told me to (several days later) to get the scratches fixed. I left the car there. The following day they called and said that everything was done so I came back to pick up the car. The car was pulled up to the front of the building. It was evening time and that area was not well lit plus it was raining slightly. I walked around the car and it looked like the scratches were fixed, so I drove off. About 10 minutes later I pulled into the first well lit gas station to inspect the car closely and this is when I clearly saw that what they did was used a touch-up pen to fill the scratches with paint - not the painting approach that was discussed and that I agreed to! And even the touch-up job was done poorly, which left a lot of white marks along the scratch which will eventually cause the metal to rust. Overall, it looked horrible. On top of that, there were some new scratches in places where this "work" was done - on the hood and on the rear bumper. The bumper literally looked like it was swiped with something. I immediately called Jim to inform him of that. He asked to give him 20-30 minutes to look into this and call me back. He never called back that night so I left him a voicemail the next day. A whole week went by after that and he still didn't call back! At this point I sent him a detailed e-mail which he responded to with a call very quickly. But during this call he denied that he promised to fix scratches by spray painting them, said that they did their best with the touchup and offered to redo it (that really wouldn't change anything!). I don't believe that they even had a 3rd party company perform this work due to the horrible quality, but regardless, this was not what I agreed to when I was buying the car. I would have never bought it if I knew this would be the outcome - no reason to deal with scratches when there are plenty of other options available of certified cars without any significant damage. I wasted 5 hours dropping the car off and picking it up. The bottom line, it's obvious to me that I was lied to in order to make the sale and once that was done, they felt no need to perform the promised work. So they made a very basic attempt to cover up the scratches just so they can say that they did something. There are a dozen other Hyundai dealerships in the Chicagoland area. If you're considering buying a car, I strongly suggest you go somewhere else! * I would consider improving my review if they come to their senses upon seeing this (and all the other reviews that I am leaving on all the major review sites) and decide to do the right thing by honoring the promised terms... but doesn't look like they even care. read more

Purchased a used car (2016 Sante Fe) from this dealership in late June, and it came with a faulty motor. I understand that the car is used so I could not expect something in perfect condition. The salesperson pushed this car on me although I was a tad hesitant. Now on month 5, the engine is completely busted and the dealership is unwilling to do anything for me. They told me to replace the engine would cost $9K. Now I am left to make payments on a car that is no longer working. The most horrible customer service I have experienced, very unhelpful staff, and do not care what so ever about the inconvenience, damage, and costs of their actions as long as a sale was made. We were directed to Elgin Hyundai (EH) by Costco. But EH never gave us any Costco discount, saying the car we chose was already underpriced. I'm now discussing this slight with Costco. EH's major scam, however, is its pressure selling of Extended Warrantees (EWs). In our case, the 'Basic' plan would add $1,895 to the price of our car, plus added financing costs over the term of the loan. They even extended the term of our loan 3 months (without our knowledge) in an effort to minimize the the apparent cost of the EW. Illegal! We were finally relieved of the EW after much effort. Here's an interesting example of EH's ant-sized mentality and serious lack of customer welfare. Before leaving with the car we discovered one of the keys had a low battery (displayed on the dash). I asked the salesman if they would repace this $5 item. He grunted and headed to the service department with it. He later gave it back to me, but when we got home, the key still showed 'low battery.' Finally, as a going-away present, EH cashed our down payment check the same day we deposited our State Farm check, costing us an overdraft charge of $36 and possible harm to our credit rating. Our bank had told me that funds would be available the next day and I told that to EH in person. They've refused to answer my email requesting repayment of the $36. Based on the foregoing facts, if you still choose to deal with EH, at least you've been forewarned. Good luck. read more

If I could leave a negative rating I would. I am beyond embarrassed that I bought a car from this dealership.. all you are is a sale to them, and that's it.. I went in Wednesday 4/5 (last week) and let me tell you, the customer service is insufferable. I have never felt so lied to, cheated on, and swindled from any business besides this one. My salesperson, Axel, didn't seem to be very educated at all, and didn't know much about the car I was purchasing, and also doesn't seem to be versed on keeping in touch with paying customers. First off, they had me purchase these "extra packages" called AIP-F, PROPACK C and SWAT, a few of which weren't explained to me, and had no paperwork even explaining what they were. Not to mention, I didn't know these were optional packages and made it seem as if I had no choice but to buy these. There was an issue with the mirror that they had to fix for one, they made it seem like it would be done Friday/Saturday at the latest. I took it upon myself to return on Friday because I had NOT HEARD FROM ANYONE. I spoke with Abbas, who I had also emailed the day after I purchased on car on 4/5 about my address being wrong. He did not email me back to confirm my message was received or he had made any corrections. I was told when I came back in on Friday afternoon (last week) about questions in regards to the packages that had been purchased. They were verbally explained to me, but I wasn't given any written information.. sketchy. I was told when I was there that my car would be done that evening. My car was in fact not done that evening. Then I get an update the following day that they had just gotten the additional part in and needed time to fix the part and that it would be done Monday evening/Tuesday morning. I had spoken to management about some questions I had in regards to some package questions I had and I left with a threat when all I wanted was my car and my questions answered. I was given an awful rental vehicle (that my salesperson didn't even have me inspect/do a walk around with him before driving off with it) that makes a lot of noises that I don't even feel comfortable driving. Also when I signed to take the rental, my address WAS STILL WRONG! So it is now 1 week after my purchase and I finally have my car with some exterior scratches that apparent aren't covered under and of the warranties I purchased.. haha. And the print outs of the packages I purchased aren't even though my explained.. also upon picking up my car, my salesperson was with another customer, and had to attend to them, so why couldn't someone else take over and make sure all my questions and additional concerns were answered?? If you want to buy a car and experience the worst customer service of your life, go to Elgin Hyundai. I promise, you will never hear from a single salesperson again after you purchase there, and you'd think you'd hear updates on your purchase in service without having to ask for them yourself right? Nope!!. There is absolutely no integrity there and I'm starting to think something else is wrong with the vehicle that probably won't be disclosed to me because no one there has the integrity to be transparent and honest. Usually the customer shouldn't be the one reaching out as much as I have been. If your sales team cared about their customers, much more effort would be made. This whole experience was disgraceful. I am appalled at how long this has been dragged out as well. And did they correct my address after I said it was wrong not once, but twice? Probably not! Review #175 for Hyundai Elgin, and review #175 that would NOT recommend this dealership - not even to my worse enemy! Wish I had seen all these bad reviews beforehand, so I could of warned my parents before going there. I was not there at the signing of the purchase, but found out afterwards the tricks Elgin Hyundai did, especially their Business Office Manager, named Victor. The agreed upon price between the salesman and what was on the contract did not match. Plus they added $599 extra 5-year warranty for a NEW car, when it already comes with warranty from Hyundai. When I mentioned this to Victor, he said they signed it and bought it! Yes, my parents did sign it and their fault for not reviewing, but how do you take advantage of elderly people? I found out afterwards also from my parents that they noticed (Victor) kept folding the documents, so that they could not see prices or what they were signing. Yes, again my parents fault, but does Victor have no conscious and enjoy taking advantage of the vulnerability of the elderly? To end this - I want it to be made known how unethical Elgin Hyundai is, especially Victor - the Business Manager and General Manager, Michael Meah is. Hoping with my review, no one else gets taken advantage of by this dealership. Take your time in reviewing documents and signing and don't let them rush you - or if they do, just walk away and go somewhere else in hopes that the other dealership will treat you fairly and ethically. read more

Let me start by saying I stopped in with NO intention on purchasing a vehicle. I was curious to see the 2020s and get a general estimate. Upon walking in Victoria greeted us and offered to show a few cars. Her knowledge of vehicles and overall demeanor were impressive. I have never had a sales person with her genuineness and honest attitude. Because of Victoria and her ability to hear me as a consumer and not push the sale... I walked out with a brand new car. Also wanted to give a shout out to Ed in finance. The two of them made this purchase easy and affordable. Heard a grinding coming form my breaks, came in just to get the breaks changed. Was told they can't change the breaks with out getting to lug nuts replaced. Total was $1,000 now I'm leaving 85 dollars in the hole with no breaks, would not recommend! Get your service done at a different shop. Also not Military friendly, most shops in the area will give you a slight discount, here they laugh basically was a F*** your service. read more

Terrible! I looked at a 2 cars and actually was going to buy both cars, a Genesis g70 and Elantra 2018. But I'm definitely going somewhere else, I gave them authorization to run my credit once, but Instead, they ran it almost 9 times, 7 with trans union and Twice with Experian. I will be disputing them with the credit Bureaus. I will go to Schaumburg Hyundai and give them my $60K for 2 cars. And when I called, the dude said " I have to check every bank" lol? You have no idea what are you talking about buddy! I work in the Finance business and you're allowed to run it once, not 9! What a joke!
