So disappointed. Elias was one of my favorite places to go for fish. I was there tonight with a friend. The service was really bad. We had a tall man with a shaved head as our server. He was semi rude, completely inattentive, forgot to bring the basics to the table (glass of water, bread, oil and vin). We ordered a salad, grilled octopus and monk fish. He said he had to check with the kitchen to see if the monk fish was still available. After at least a half hour waiting, we had to flag him down and ask him if they had it or not (which they did not, but that is understandable). The food was ok, fresh and cooked well. But the service just took away from all that. Never once did the server come back to the table until we had try to get his attention and flag him down, including trying to get the check. This place was just ok. The food wasn't bad, nor the prices, but the overall experience was just okay and the service was terrible. We waited 20 minutes before anyone even came by with water. Everytime we flagged someone down they said "we''ll get to you". The whole no menu thing sucks - and I am pretty sure it isn't legal. It is reasonable to expect to know what you are paying. The greek salad was good, as was the fish. The carafe of house wine was fine. Getting the bill was as hard as ordering the food... I won't be back. read more

Lived across the street for 11 years. My first attempt at this place was about 4 years ago. The service was terribly slow and I was turned off by the no menu and cash only aspect but the fish was fresh, I just didn't know how to order it. With taverna Klykades up the street this just wasn't my first place to come. Tonight I gave this place a 2nd shot simply because it was so close. My husband and I came to sit outside, it was about 9:30 on a Sunday night and the back yard had plenty of tables. My husband and I sat at a larger table in the back so we could sit side by side. We were seated for about 15 minutes and no one came to our table at all. Finally the owner came to our table, I thought to apologize for the delayed service but instead he barked very rudely that we needed to move to a smaller table. After trying to reason with him to no avail we moved to a new smaller table but felt very offended we decided to just get up and leave. This time, we definitely will not be back! read more

Went there with nu family recently. The waiter announced us right away that they have no menu and only take cash. Then acted all annoyed when I asked him to tell us what they offer and the prices. What kind of restaurant has no menu??? That's just retarded. We got up and left. The place was empty. I wonder how much longer they'll be in business. Probably not long, w/o a menu. This is my first review ever. I ate at Elias corner yesterday and it was perfect. I don't know why the staff gets such heavy criticism. Excellent service and authentic Greek food and feel! My personal Best!!! There is no menu there, but I will share my favorites,: Salads, both Greek and green(finely chopped romaine lettuce based salad, seasoned with feta and dill, olives, a must try!), we usually get the biggest size and share, good for 3-4, but often we share one large between two; grilled octopus, fried calamari (very different than the Italian heavily breaded rings!), taramosalata (fish roe spread, amazing!), saganaki(fried cheese), grilled(or fried) zucchini with the tzatziki(yogurt garlic dip) on the side to eat along with the zucchini, fried potatoes, if you want to get the fried fish, whiting fish is the Best, very crisp on the outside, soft and juicy white fish on the inside, the order comes in 5 fish (to share between two, or not:), I really like the fried bait fish, when available, these you eat whole, but are not always available, from the grill I love the St Peters the most, the seasoning and the grilling are just perfect! One fish is good for two people to share. My beer of choice is the Greek Alfa, light and crisp. The sausage is really good for those in the company that must have some meat. Ask for the dessert, it's these little balls of fried dough covered in honey and cinnamon(these are complimentary), great companion for the sweet Greek coffee. Not to forget, the lightly grilled bread perfect for dipping in one of the most delicious olive oil you have ever tasted! That will be on your table, spill some in your plate and dip your bread in it! The quiet Greek music on the background, the garden under the tent during the warm months, the simplicity of it all, it is a true escape, an oasis! Came here with a group of friends for my brother-in-law's birthday celebration. It was pretty tight inside, yet only one side of the restaurant was open. One thing we definitely didnt expect was that they had NO MENU available! The server just came by and old us what was available; we just asked her to repeat and we wrote it down on the table [paper] cover. We ordered the Greek Salad, fresh calamari, and giant New Zealand clams for appetizers, and 3 fillets and 3 whole fish for entrees. The portions were HUGE, family-style and oh-so-fresh! They were pretty delicious yet it just became tooooo much. Like too much fish to the point of disgusting! Hahaha but overall pretty awesome place, especially if you want fresh seafood. read more

Fresh Seafood! I think their idea of not having a standard menu is refreshing and allows you to just sit back and appreciate the food in a family style atmosphere. Your mom will tell you to eat fish at least twice a week to have a healthy diet, so its worth to check it out. I've eaten at different Greek restaurants and I love this place. Have been going for about 10 years now. NO MENU and NO CASH are the drawbacks. I don't go as often as I would like - only when I have the extra cash so I order my favorites each time, hence, not needing a menu. Because of the outside seating this place has become a summer favorite of ours. One thing I do not like is that they make these delish dumplings as a dessert but will not make them if the kitchen is busy. This place is straight off the boat... There is no menu. They tell you what fish they have that day and don't even tell you how they will prepare it, but trust them. They know what they are doing. They have 2 kinds of wine: Greek Red, and Greek White. Other drinks are Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite. When people say "no frills", really, they mean no frills, However, I had the whole red snapper and it was out of this world. So fresh and flavorful, it's so nice to go out somewhere and know what you're eating is both healthy and delicious! I am excited to go back and make use of the outdoor seating. It is kind of pricey and since there is no menu you don't even know how much they will charge you for each plate. I've been here several times and loved it every time. I haven't had fish this fresh since I was a kid. We used to go to Gosman's Dock in Montauk where they had their own boat. This definitely comes close. I highly recommended the Bronzino and the Flounder. I've also had the clams, St. Peter's and Red Snapper. Friends raves about the Octopus. Start with a Greek Salad and get the dandelion greens and sliced potatoes with it. Lima Beans in Tomato Sauce are also superb. Friends of mine have also savored the Greek Coffee. Definitely don't miss this place if you're into Greek Food and/or Fish. There is nothing like it in the city. read more

Hey use to be good place but last night after not going there for about a year-there was something going on----somebody working there was having a "bad night", fish seemed old and tasted like dirt, and way too many bugs on the wall. Really not so much fun. If you go--sit outside and the cockroaches will be less noticeable. Sorry, I really want this place to get it together to what they once were. My favorite fish restaurant in ALL of New York!!! Been there over half-dozen times & always a good experience with excellent food!

My family took me here for Fathers Day and upon entering the vestibule we didn't see the very small sign stating that they don't accept credit cards and none of the employees told us of this policy. The plastic tables on the deck were broken, dirty, and stained. The waitress was very nice however when we approached the owner regarding the "No credit card" policy he became nasty and we had to have cash for the tip separate from the $300 bill. The food wasn't too bad with the exception of the fish having many bones when they were suppose to be fillet!! Further, as there are no menus you're not aware of what your meal is going to cost. This is probably the worst place I have ever been in NYC. Service was horrible. First of all, we waited 10 mins and had to call somebody to get sit. After it, I asked for the menu, and the waiter (very annoyingly) told me only half of the menu with no prices. He also forgot to mention that the place was only cash. I didn't mind too much about this tho. We ordered 2 bottle of water and they were $8 each, and a plate of 6 small shrimp was $24... $4 per shrimp basically. The red mullet was $26 and it was good. Sardines were not good and unbeatable. This place has bad service, bad management and is overpriced... just get your money and go to a steakhouse in Manhattan... if you don't get drinks, the check will be likely the same, maybe slightly lower. I also think that with their only cash policy and no menu, they overcharge the one time customer, otherwise the place would be ridiculously expensive for the regular clients and neighbourhood read more
