Eli's on Whitney is a great location for hosting all kinds of events. I have attended several events there. They were all great. We held our daughter's sweet 16 birthday celebration there last Thursday. The kids had a blast! The food was amazing! The location is excellent and super convenient for all guests. The staff are the very best. Kelly went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for our daughter's party to be successful, and it was. I definitely recommend Eli's highly. This is a great spot for those attending Quinnipiac's graduate schools or are of drinking age in the undergraduates. The food is reasonably priced for the quality and proportion size, and the drink selection is solid. The waitresses here are kind and on the younger 20's to 30's side making the energy of the place brighter. The place is really clean for a bar/restaurant hybrid. The only issue I had was the place couldn't make itself to be one or the other, a bar or a restaurant. If I wanted to watch the game, the volume of all the TV's were turned off (possibly different during the superbowl), and if I wanted to just eat out at a restaurant, there's too many a young bar scene patron. So we started going here 3years ago and were always satisfied, great bartenders and great food. We noticed it slowly started to change with a hit or miss on bother food and service. From that it's now a big miss. Went there tonight at 6:30 pm for dinner. When we walked in we were shocked how empty the place was. We ordered our drinks and put in our food order of cheeseburgers. It took about 35 minutes for the food to arrive. It seemed like a long wait considering there was only 6 other customers in the building. The food finally arrived and it was horrible. My wife ordered a medium rare and I ordered a medium they both came out well done no flavor and dried out. Unfortunately we were in a hurry so we decided to just eat and go. The bartender walked by asked "how's everything " I responded not good they cooked them wrong and her response was "they did" and turned walked away and stood at the end of the bar talking to the other workers gathered at the end of the bar. Will certainly share my experience at every opportunity I get and avoid this place going forward. There are far better equipped people to be a manager and far better places to eat. Dive bar quality food without the dive bar price. I have been here twice.. the service and beer selection have been good both times. The food, however, is a huge disappointment. Let's start with the nachos. Though you get a large plate, the price is outrageous for what you actually get. $13.50 for nachos with "the works"... meaning cheese, tomato and jalapeños. Add chicken for another $3 and you get a big $17 pile of burnt chips and 3 or 4 little pieces of chicken. Also had a chicken sandwich. The chicken was over fried, and tasted of grease. I love sweet potato fries.. these had to be the worst I've ever tasted.. over cooked and flavorless except for the grease. I couldn't even eat them. Definitely won't be eating here again. read more

Eli's was the perfect choice for our daughter's college graduation party. They helped us combine family, friends and neighbors of all ages into a very cool cookout themed party! Went here tonight and ordered the herb crusted chicken sandwich. It was very salty and didn't even wanna finish it. It was okay but the fires were even more disappointing. They were supposed to be truffle parm fires and barely had any truffle flavor. Our waitress was also kinda short with us at the end and ended up not coming by for a long time when we were ready to order another drink but were so turned off that we didn't want another one after all. She left us alone for 15-20 mins and didn't come back to check in with us. I definitely won't be recommending this place to anymore. Very mediocre. read more

I am usually very happy with the place but they are trying out a new happy hour food menu which I was excited for. Hoping it was just the cooks on for the nite but I had ordered a few apps. First I was excited to see fried pickles but asked how they are sliced, I don't like spears. The bar tender said one nite they did spears one slices so he went to ask what they were doing tonite. They said spears and when asked why they couldn't do slices like other nites there was no answer. Next was chocolate covered bacon, sounded good since I've had it before. The bacon came out cold and not even half cooked with what looks like chocolate was just dumped on it. I then ordered roasted cauliflower with buffalo sauce, it would've been good but it was so hot and the cauliflower was sitting in a large puddle of the sauce, by time I could eat it all it was soggy. Came to Eli's a little late on a weekend because not a lot of things were open, and it very much satisfied what we were looking for. Felt like high scale bar food, with a wide array. I got some bacon mac n cheese which was an absolutely monstrous proportion, two people could have eaten this cheesy dish. My partner ended up eating some, because her scallions came to the table very cold. We did complain and got a new dish which was warm, but the staff was very hostile with out complaint, they seemed annoyed which was really unfortunate. read more
