Once I entered and saw the receptionist (black hair with glasses) screaming at an old man that simply needed help with understanding some of his charges and procedures I should have immediately left that place (already a red flag). Unfortunately, I did not, and waited there listening to this annoying receptionist, at some point I decided to wait outside until it was my turn. I was given a lot of paperwork that not even the receptionist could explain to me what were there for. (this were not the regular papers you fill out at the dentist). Their machines were so old that it took about an hour for the assistant to make the X-Rays (second red flag), then the hygienist came and told me I needed an "INTERMEDIATE CLEANING", thing that I never heard before in my life and I do cleanings every year. Then Dr. Elizabeth came and said about 2 words and did not even bother to explain anything to me. Lastly, another staff member came and said they wouldn't do the regular cleaning because I needed the "intermediate" which was $120. I told them I made the appointment for my annual check and regular cleaning and that was what I wanted to do. Again, they refused and the annoying receptionist was extremely rude to me because I decided not to do the cleaning they said. Today, one day later I went to Sage Dental Coral Gables and they did not even mention something about a deep cleaning, they did the X-Rays in about 10 minutes or less and immediately proceeded with the regular cleaning and then the Dr. was amazing and actually took the time to explain everything to me. Oh, and all paperwork was filled online and you wait in the car until it is your turn. I called about 10 different places and NONE of them knew about something called "INTERMEDIATE CLEANING" you are either a regular or a deep cleaning which requires anesthesia. Not my case since I floss every day and do cleanings regularly. read more

Well, I just got back from seeing " Dr. Liz " and ..... Remember that scene in The Matrix when in her kitchen the Oracle tells Neo " I hate giving good people bad news " ? That's how I feel every time I go see Dr. De-Aguirre which is not often enough but she always makes me feel better after giving me " the bad news " by fixing what is broken and giving sound dental advice. Like Patrick said she never gives you the feeling she is trying to run up the bill on you with unnecessary treatments. I had an emergency where I broke off one of my front teeth and had a public speaking engagement for Rotary in front of 300 people and she got me looking presentable the next day. Make an appointment in the Coral Gables office if you can. She is there Tuesdays and Thursdays - nice location great parking and the best dentist in town with the best smile ! The plaque on the door states "Modern Dentistry." Well, I should hope so. I don't see bow drills, forceps and tongs hanging on the walls, so I guess you're OK, then. I started coming to Dr. DeAguirre several years ago when my old dentist retired. I went once to the guy who kinda took over his practice and did not like him at all. Thankfully, I found Dr. DeAguirre through a co-worker. Young dentist, convenient Gables location, thorough, efficient, professional. I like the fact that she does the cleanings herself, because I've NEVER liked a single dental hygienist I've ever had. Every one has been way too rough, wielding the damned pick as if it's a weapon. I have to say, I find it disheartening and disturbing how much nasty crap she scrapes out of my mouth every 6 months, given how obsessive I am about brushing, flossing, rinsing, etc. Oh well, at least I don't feel like I'm being tortured with a sharp metal object. So far, I think her best work came a few years ago when I broke a tooth as a result of a violent fall while mountain biking. I was able to get an appointment a week and a half later. She put a perfect bond on it and sent me on my way; it feels as good as new. Oh, and she doesn't push you toward a bunch of costly, unnecessary treatment. Her office manager, Marisol, is the worse business person I have ever experienced. She is manipulative & her only focus is on making money for the dentist. Make sure you get an estimate before you do any work. She wil scam you P. s. the dentist is ok. Just that she leaves the paperwork to Marisol who probably is losing patients due to her arrogance. The response by the Dr. is not accurate. I am very aware of my benefits. I don't need anyone to explain them to me. How condescending! Dentist's offices are not fun. They can be traumatizing actually. I have never felt comfortable at any dentist's office until now. Dr. De-Aguirre's office is run smoothly. I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to be seen. My teeth cleanings always go great and dare I say I actually look forward to them. I had to have a wisdom tooth extracted and it was painless, easy and fast. Whether it's her dental hygienist or Dr. De-Aguirre who is seeing me on my visit, they always answer my questions and ease any reservations I may have. I have to agree with fellow Yelpers that I have never felt like anyone in her office is trying to add on services for the sake of running up the bill. I do have dental insurance but some things are not covered by my insurance and whatever I have had to pay out of pocket has been very reasonable. My only gripe is the parking situation. There is street parking but I never seem to find a spot. There is also a parking garage but you have to pay and depending on the time it's not guaranteed you will find a spot. Obviously not the dentist's fault. It's just annoying. All in all, I am comfortable with this dentist office. read more

I reluctantly put one star because unfortunately you have to put something DO NOT SEE HER! I personally would not give this woman any stars at all I visited her office twice Once in Coral Gables and once in Hialeah I would say her staff is amazing but her dentristy work is crap. Let me explain So I was about 4 months pregnant the first time I ever went to see her obviously she was made aware of the condition. I was there to get some fillings done 2 on my upper jaw to be exact. after showing me the x-rays she assured me that of the three she was going to perform those two because they were the smallest. So naturally she did those first. She also spoke about getting a cleaning done called it an intermediate cleaning. Of course I had never heard of an intermediate cleaning?? I had only heard of basic and deep ( mind you my mother and my best friend are both dental assistants Unfortunately they don't live where I live) so after hearing they had never heard of it I left and proceeded to try to get more information on this so-called intermediate cleaning. I called around and spoke to five different dental offices only to find out that there is no such thing! there's only basic or deep meaning they do this to try to get more money out of people seeing as it's slightly more expensive than the basic but just under the Deep. scheduling a follow-up was a constant mission simply because no one ever picks up the freaking phone. About two and a half months later I call her on her emergency line letting her know that one of the fillings she had performed was completely swollen I was in horrible pain she advised I go see her at her Hialeah office as an emergency appointment. When I showed up in horrible pain she let her assistant perform the check up and remove the high points she had left on my tooth ( also just so you know not something assistance are typically allowed to do!) she barely spoke to me didn't even acknowledge the situation I was in. She looked at me and said you need antibiotics here's the script I'll see you in two weeks?? Not a hey hello how are you doing I'm sorry this happened let's take a look nothing. ( FYI when they tell you they can't treat you if it's swollen or infected they're lying they can it simply takes longer for the anesthetic to take but it can be done!) Fortunately her dental assistant was able to help me and is rather good. Obviously taking antibiotics for the infection only does so much. This was a problem that needed to be fixed and by the time an extraction needed to be performed to undo the crap work she did I was too far along I was basically forced to take antibiotics on and off to keep the infection from spreading till the end of the pregnancy. Naturally I stopped going there and went to another dental office which performed x-rays and discovered she shattered my root which of course led to the constant abscess (she had claimed the infection was likely due to improper flossing) You see I listened to her and kept taking the antibiotics which of course kept it at Bay and a way for a while but it continued to come back leaving me no choice to go somewhere else. Which is when they performed another set of panoramic X-rays and discovered what she had done. She made a mistake when filling the tooth she knew she went too deep and didn't say a damn thing. Again her staff is wonderful but her work is garbage I would not recommend her dental offices to my worst enemy! I went through hell for months because it literally took that long to discover what she had done. Not to mention that I now lost a molar for no damn reason because had someone done it correctly I wouldn't have to have gone through it. I had a deep cleaning last year as per Dr's recommendation followed by 2 cleanings In an interval of 4 months. The hygienist is very good and pleasant but unfortunately I came to realize that the assistant/ manager who presents the bills to the patients is making up codes of procedures in order to charge more. I had two different dental insurances that also used in my previous dentist and I do not understand why I used to pay 20 dollars my copay in the past for a simple cleaning and this time I had to pay 90 dollars for nothing different. The deep cleaning I had I was charged for about 550 dollars and I was told on my next visit that it was an intermediate one . I had an appointment with Dr. De-Aguirre today and I was highly impressed. I am unsure why a previous reviewer has mentioned that you will be "charged for any procedure [they] can get away with." While I was in the office today, the lady at the front desk came back to the room I was in to sit down with me and carefully explain the charges to me (quite a feat considering she was on crutches and could have made me come back to the front instead). I was even given a quote for my next visit as well. All of the ladies in the office were very friendly and Dr. De-Aguirre actually listened to her patient. I generally require two shots to numb the area before work can be done and most dentists I have had before don't heed this information. I explained to Dr. De-Aguirre that I generally required two and she began with one, quickly tested for feeling, and promptly followed up with a second shot because I still had feeling. This all occurred within a span of about ten-fifteen minutes, whereas other dentist take much longer simply because they did not listen to me in the first place. I was very pleased to find such a friendly and professional office, especially here in Miami where customer service and timely appointments are a thing of the past, and I will 100% be returning. read more

I was a patient here shortly after getting Delta insurance. I actually came here because of her great reviews. The coral gables office is in a good location, although outdated. The staff was nice and I got a cleaning done where they up sold me on one my insurance wasn't covering. Then the next visit I was referred to the other office in HIALEAH. The office was deplorable and the staff is loud. That's where they send you for scans and to see their "specialist." Whom is a distasteful rude doctor who I almost let retreat a root canal and extract my wisdom Teeth in one sitting which is absurd in any other office. Apart from that he is NOT and oral surgeon or and an endodontist but a mere Dentist that wants to up charge you. I went back to dr. Aguirre where she did some fillings that I paid out of pocket. I went for a cleaning and they wanted me to come back so badly after that, that they (Marisol) called me at my cell phone, at my job and even called my emergency contact!! I told the rep that I would never go back just because of her. The dental hygienist was nice, but I was not impressed. I also had heard not so good stories of friends that had gone to the see Dr.Aguirre and had to get her work redone by another doctor. Would not recommend her or her staff. Finally, to put the cherry on top, they lost my records, and admitted that mine were not the only ones that were lost in a system transfer!! Will never go back there again! read more
