We eat here on a weekly basis. We love the Thursday half-price wine night! The pizza here is cooked in a brick oven and cannot be beat! My favorite pizza is the margarita but we have ordered every pizza off of this menu and it has been fantastic every single time. Stromboli also highly recommended! They give you bread, oil with spices, and butter as a complementary appetizer but honestly, I don't really love their bread. It's too dense. I feel like it needs to rise longer or something. I am not an expert by any means but I don't love the bread. My favorite thing about this place...[[HIGHLIGHT]]During the winter, I absolutely love sitting right in front of the fireplace. Growing up in Greensboro, this used to be one of my favorite places. I've been back a few times in the last several years, but my most recent visit was pretty disappointing. For starters, our lunch cost $50 for 2 adults and a child. That seems a little bit wild in my opinion and for that price, I expected more from the food. My niece had a single slice of pizza for her meal. I had a chicken cheesesteak from the lunch menu, meaning it was 8 inches. My mom had an eggplant sub also from the lunch menu. Both of our sandwiches were primarily bread. The chicken in mine was mostly scraps/edges of chicken. There were no bites or strips of chicken and 80% of my bites were only bread. I don't think I will be coming back. read more

Great experience for dinner on a Friday night! Seated quickly, server was a a little slow getting to us but brought drinks pretty swiftly. Mozzarella sticks were piping hot and tasty. Not particularly unique but still yummy. The Elizabeth pizza special was good. The homemade crust was good, the toppings were good though they were distributed poorly. The fettuccine Alfredo was creamy. Needed salt but was delicious. The cheeseburger panini was unique and looked delicious. All in all a good experience and will be back. read more

We wanted to like this place but couldn't. I ordered "Elizabeth's Baked Trio" Witcher three types of pasta served on one plate. What I got was a plate covered completely and melted cheese with some stuff underneath it. It was like one conglomeration of pasta tossed in together with melted cheese topped over it. Terrible. You can see this in the photos. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Our table wobbled like the dance. The entire place was stated and showed its age. The front door closing mechanism was busted. When you open the door it stayed open. When I realized this I had to go back and then pull the door shut.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You can see this in the photos. I also ordered a site of meatballs which tasted exactly like something you'd get from a frozen bag in the grocery store. I asked if they were made in house or purchased and I was told they were purchased. Had lunch here today with my son. I had the lasagna and he had the spaghetti with meatballs. The meals came with warm, fresh, bread and salad. The food was really good but they were extremely short staffed which was not good because they were pretty busy. We waited 15 minutes to get someone to take our order and another 20 minutes after receiving the bill for someone to take our money. We were on a schedule so the waiting time was frustrating. I love the atmosphere and food so I will give them another try to step up on the service. I would recommend but not if you're in a hurry! read more

It's hit or miss here. Their marinara is really good and their dishes are acceptable. Our favorites are the Stromboli's (pep and veggies for me and steak/cheese for hubs). Their "side" add on salad is now $8.99 which is pretty crazy especially when they are out of cucumber and you get a small plate of lettuce with onion on it and that's all. read more

*takeout experience only* Elizabeth's Pizza is a local chain scattered across Winston-Salem and Greensboro. I'd argue this is one of the most recognized pizza establishments among Greensboro natives particular. I used to frequent the Groometown Road location fairly often when I worked nearby, but I had never previously been to this Battleground location. I ordered takeout via ChowNow online, and my order was piping hot and ready to go when I arrived. The hostess directed me to the bar to pick up my food. Both the hostess and the lady behind the bar were very pleasant, even though it was about 5:15 on a Friday evening and the restaurant was already beginning to get quite busy. I'll start by getting this out of the way. This is coming from someone who much prefers a Neapolitan style or a Sicilian/deep dish as opposed to that signature New York style that Elizabeth's is known for. With that being said, this is pleasant for that style of pizza, albeit a bit pricy for a more casual dining establishment. I got the veggie pizza and I did enjoy it. The bits of eggplant on there were really nice and cooked very well. It was a unique addition I really liked. The tomatoes on it I think could've been roasted a bit longer, but I wasn't bothered enough to pick them off. They were extremely thick slices so that was just kind of weird. I will say at least the $11 mozzarella sticks came with 8 instead of the usual 4-6 you can usually expect. They were pretty good. The pasta was probably my favorite item! I used to get the lunch fettuccine Alfredo quite often and always enjoyed it, and I'm a big carbonara fan so I knew I had to try this. I'll say, it isn't a traditional style (it has bacon and onions) but I really enjoyed it. The noodles were tender and the sauce was a nice consistency. All the right flavors. They do a nice pizza by the slice special for lunch, as well as other specials. I'd say that's where Elizabeth's shines, rather than the slightly expensive dinner experience. read more

Spaghetti with meat sauce was tasty enough but too salty. Needs something more (basil, maybe). More garlic? They give you ALOT of spaghetti though. I can make at least four meals out of one order for $16. The side salad it included had VERY fresh, lettuce, tiny tomatoes, shredded carrots, and sliced red onions. They have a unique offering of a Cabernet & basil dressing, which is delicious. The next time I'm in the mood for a large salad, I'll definitely stop in. read more

They forgot my meatballs so I drove back up there and after the three servers in the kitchen stopped chatting to notice me, I was given the most unappetizing container of meatballs. If Yelp allowed half stars I might give this a 2.5, maybe 2.75... It was a little busy when my party first got there but the rush cleared out pretty quick. The inside of the restaurant had nice mood lighting and a very homey atmosphere. It took forever for us to get the chance to place our orders and even longer to receive the actual food. My chicken parm was pretty good, no complaints but also nothing special about it. The cheese pizza, however, was great and I highly recommend getting it. I ordered a caesar salad as my side and the croutons were stale & inedible. My sister got the caesar salad as her entrée and the dish had to be sent back since it was also not very good and lacked caesar dressing. My entire party never received refills or our bread while the tables around us did. When my waitress came to take the dirty dishes, she spilled shrimp pasta sauce all over our takeout box. Not sure if she noticed or not but it was pretty irritating. This place is definitely a hit or miss. Half my party's food ended up fine and the other half wasn't too great. The service and long wait time made our experience unpleasant, so if you're in the mood for Italian I'd probably just go somewhere else. read more

They said they couldn't change it as the ac continued to run (a mechanical issue). We know most restaurants with get hvac repairs quickly. Secondly a small house salad with a few greens, carrots and 3 green olives was $9. Next my nephew order penne with meatballs and meat sauce. The pasta was sparse. We asked for a small bowl of just pasta no sauce so he could finish his meal.....again $9. I am aware prices have increased everywhere as I frequently dine out but another cup of cooked pasta for $9??? This is my 2nd bad experience at this Elizabeth's but my last as well. read more

How do I express my issues/concerns... I ordered $60.00 worth of food... two Strombol, one chicken one steak... the chicken one was way bigger than the steak. This is Mario's place north of 840 and south of Old Battleground Ave. We have been going here almost since it opened and have always had a great experience. This past Saturday (Sept 28th) at 7:11 pm Katherine took our order. We went to pick it up and were greeted by a nice young man who knew exactly what we ordered, repeated it to me and helped me sign up for the new rewards program. Never have I had a better take out experience than the 28th. Oh, did I mention how great the food was? It was hot, prepared perfectly and packaged so it made it home in great shape. I come to Elizabeth's about every other Friday. I sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and Caesar salad while I wait for my to-go pizza for the family. I can't say enough about the amazing bar staff. They juggle 18 different things at one time and never leave me hanging when I need anything. Kudos to Steve and Leeann for doing such a fantastic job and making it look easy. Oh, and the food is pretty dang good too. read more

The food was amazing! But our server, Elyss, was not. We sat down and when she arrived at our table she said: "What do you want to drink?" She did not introduce herself or give any sort of greeting. Once we got our drink, we did not see her again until she delivered our food, we did not get any refills during the whole meal. When we were done, we had to get up and look for her to bring us our check and give to-go boxes, we were waiting for over 20 after we finished eating with no drinks. Worst service ever. We ordered pizza, a calzone, garlic knots and a piece of the limoncello. The food was exactly what we were hoping for, it wasn't life changing but we had leftover pizza (as hoped for) and the prices were reasonable for the type of restaurant it is. My only complaint was that the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. They were nice but not especially attentive and they were confused about our order. We ordered for pickup on a weekday afternoon around 2. It wasn't busy inside (only a couple diners) but it did seem like they had a lot of pickups as the parking lot had steady traffic though it wasn't packed. Its a pizza place I would order from again but I would avoid it if it looks busy. read more

I ate here and I quite enjoyed it. The restaurant itself has a nice appearance from the outside, though inside feels a bit tacky. Not sure why, but I had higher expectations. The decor felt somewhat dated, right out of the early 80's and hasn't been touched since. It certainly wasn't a dive, and felt clean, just dated. It has a very noisy atmosphere which makes it great for kids and groups. The food was delicious. I tried their brick oven style pizza, New York style meat lovers and their meatball appetizers with marinara sauce. The pizzas were incredible. The brick oven was cooked to perfection with outstanding mozzarella, rotisserie chicken, red onions and it had just a fabulous taste with the most incredible crust. The New York style was a bit more generic though very tasty. Though the meatballs were quite good, they tasted like frozen meatballs from Costco, which felt a bit odd because everything else appeared to me be made in-house and from scratch. The service was alright. The restaurant was very busy, but we only saw the waitress four times: to order drinks, deliver drinks and order food, deliver food, and bring the check. There was no refilling of drinks and she was quite elusive. Perhaps she was just busy --let's be positive here. She was polite and courteous, though not overly friendly or helpful. The restaurant was easily spotted from the surrounding streets and had easy in/out access. It had a small lot for the size of the restaurant, but finding a spot wasn't impossible. Overall the experience was okay, and food certainly was good but service lacking. Initially had this a four star rating but as I went through the experience, it dropped to a three. Karen and I went in for dinner last night. We weren't there for pizza because we had pizza two nights ago. The place was moderately busy but there was no wait for a table. Our waiter, Jeremy, had his hands full but that did not hinder his service. He apologised for what HE thought was slow service when we didn't think it was slow at all. We had salad and a nice Bruschetta with a slice of melted cheese on it. She had Spinach Ravioli and I had Linguini Marinara. Both were quite good. I took my mom out to lunch on her one hour lunch break around 1:00. They were not super busy, a bit steady. we ordered fried calamari, a stromboli, and the slice of pizza& salad lunch special. The calamari came out in about 15 minutes and it was burnt. We didn't eat much of it. We waited another 40 minutes for our food, at this point my mom had 5 minutes to be back to work. The waitress was kind and very apologetic & I appreciated the service she provided for us. We took our food to go & my mom didn't even get to eat at all before returning to work. I understand there is a worker shortage and I also work in a restaurant so I'm not complaining about the things that are out of control in that way, the food quality was poor for the amount of time we had to wait- about 55 minutes- and we paid more than $40 for a lunch we didn't get to eat. read more
