Sometimes we open Yelp and decide to go to some places just because we've never heard of it before and the reviews are awesome. Vinnie's Pizzeria was that for us today. When we want pizza, I'm looking for authentic New York style or some brick oven baked charred crust. Vinnie's isn't either of these but it had great reviews from fellow yelpers so of course we needed to see it for ourselves. It was pretty crowded when we arrived but we didn't have to wait long before we were seated. Dominique our Server helped us decide what to order. She was awesome and fun and we could tell she loved her job and the food there. I love that! She highly recommended the garlic knots so we started with those. My husband got Chicken Marsala on Dominique's recommendation. I ordered Chicken Cannelloni. The portions are very generous and I ended up taking some home for a nice treat later. A solid little pizzaria, we stopped in recently for some dinner and Vinnie's was a good choice. We were greeted walking in and seated within the same moment. A surprizingly small eatery, has a separate dining area with booths and some tables. Our server was professional and kind, we ordered our drinks and a start with their version of Bruschetta. This was an excellent start for our evening there. A beautiful presentation of five pieces, nicely toasted with paper thin prosciutto de parma, fresh mozzarella, chopped tomato, capers and balsamic reduction drizzle. Delicious, rich, crunchy, sweet, savory and full flavored. I went for the Parmigiana with chicken, served over angel hair with a rich tomato sauce. A hearty meal, the chicken cutlet was breaded nicely, and pounded thin, cooked very well. The pasta underneath cooked al dante, and it all smoothered in a rich maranara. We also tried the Mediterranean pizza, a 12" and it was huge. A well made pie, loaded with ingredients. The combination of fresh pesto with the mushrooms, olives, banana peppers, roasted red peppers and feta was a solid choice. Hidden gem alert! This place may be out on the very southern edge of Winston-Salem, but that should not stop you from dropping in for a bite to eat. We tried to satiate that craving somewhere else, and it was unfortunately about the worst chicken parm sandwich either one of us had ever seen or tasted. I took to Yelp, scouring for an Italian place doing it right. Properly breaded chicken cutlet, plenty of mozzarella cheese, adorned with a wonderful sauce on some light airy bread. Man, did we ever find it! Another thing we saw when deciding what to order ahead of time were the garlic knots. They looked like perfection, so we had to start our meal out with those, even though that pushed our meal into carb overload territory. Well, now we won't go back without ordering them. These might have been the best garlic knots I have ever been served. Lots of robust garlic flavor, golden buttery outside sprinkled with parm, inside texture could not have been better... cooked just past the point of being dough. There were 10 to an order. We ate them all, even though we didn't intend to. They were just too good. My sandwich was also excellent, the "Chicken Vinnie's" panini. Grilled chicken with a balsamic glaze, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella on perfectly pressed sandwich bread. The chicken was tender and juicy, there was plenty of mozz and red peppers, and the acidic touches of the balsamic tied it all together. I got mine with onion rings for a slight upcharge, even they were excellent! To tell the truth, since A Slice of Napoli closed, I have not successfully found a true replacement for their casual Italian fare. There are a few good Italian restaurants in our area, but all are geared toward dinner. Replacing their combination of taste and value had proved almost impossible. I have finally found it again in Vinnie's, and I don't care that it's a bit out of the way... we'll be back! read more

Our server, Connie was excellent and the young man helping her was on his game always make sure we're drinks were full just pure outstanding service! now let's get to the appetizers they were absolutely delicious. We had to bruschetta came to the table. Quick was delicious. The main course had the cheese raviolis and added some shrimp. The sauce was delicious and gravy always were excellent. We came here a few minutes after 11am on a Sunday a few minutes after they opened. We've had Vinnie's on our list for while and now was our opportunity to check them out. They are located in an end unit of a strip mall with lots of parking. Since they had just opened, we were seated immediately, provided menus and offered drinks. We were seated in a booth directly across from the entrance. I only had a moment to check out the specials board to the right as we walked inside. We did note the lunch specials are not offered on Sunday's. We believe we were the first dine-in customers of the day and it felt like they had more than adequate staff for the dining area. Probably a good thing to be prepared before the Sunday lunch rush. We inquired about a few of the options and I decided to order the small meat lovers pizza and my wife ordered the Genovese and opted for no pasta with a side salad. The side salad arrived quickly and looked good. They also brought her a nice piece of bread with balsamic and oil. She enjoyed both! Since I ordered a pizza it took a bit for our order to arrive but when it did it looked great. The small pizza (12 inch) was much bigger than 12 inches. Since my wife ordered her dish without the pasta there wasn't a lot to it but she enjoyed the nicely prepared shrimp and clams. My pizza looked good and I appreciated the extra sauce like I had requested. I did feel like the bacon on my pizza was undercooked and very fatty. I ended up picking some of the bacon off. The restaurant itself appears to be clean and well cared for and the service was good. Prices are a bit higher than average but overall it was a good stop. read more

Love this place! Great service, nice people, and the food is great. I would give it 5 stars, but after repeated requests on take out visits, I have to beg for sauce to cover my spaghetti. This is my favorite dish there, but not sure why plenty of sauce is a problem. Noodles are cheap, last time I checked. When I visit OG, no problem and they make sure they serve plenty. I love to order the daily specials. They are very creative and give me a chance to try new things. The pasta dishes come with bread and salad which is nice. The food was so tasty, our server (Kony) was so polite and friendly and you can see the teamwork among the employees helping each other out. This was my first time going here. It's kind of hidden in a shopping center and looks very small from the outside. It's much bigger inside. I ordered a Stromboli classic and it was huge. I ordered a small. It was very good and cooked perfectly. My wife ordered a custom calzone and she loved it as well. Our waitress was absolutely great. We had to wait a while, but man it's jolly in there. The only downfall was that it was about an hour from sitting down to finishing for a lunch...most of that waiting for the food. With that said, waits are common in 2021. And they handled it well. There is a sign coming in warning there may be a bit of a delay. And I couldn't help while waiting that despite being busy all of the employees were cheery. Our waitress had a great glitter Santa hat. We had a nice Christmas hits playlist going in the background and I did notice they did a nice job with their tree. The food was really good. I had a slice of pizza and boneless nugs. Another round-up 4 here. Again, closer to 3.75ish for me, but pretty decent lunch spot overall. I tried this for the first time with my coworkers earlier this week. We arrived around noon but it wasn't crowded at all and we were seated immediately. It's a nice spot tucked away in a shopping center off Peters Creek. Our waiter came over right away and took our food/drink orders. We each tried one of the lunch special items - I did a slice of pepperoni and side caesar, they had the chicken parmesan and philly cheesesteak hoagies. We started with a bread basket and olive oil - the bread was piping hot, fresh, and delicious! Our food came out shortly after. I thought my caesar was alright, not the best but it was a good size for a side salad. The slice was massive - I did not finish it. I think it could have used a few more pepperoni slices on it, but it tasted good - the tomato sauce was unexpectedly sweeter than normal, but I enjoyed it. I hate to admit this but I always judge restaurants in shopping centers for some reason. However, this place is legitimate. First off, the service here is impeccable, our waitress was on top of everything and even packed our food for us at the end of the meal. The place also has an extremely home style feel to it, come as you are and enjoy the food. Everything I tried tonight was absolutely phenomenal and tasted super fresh. My Sister Pea and Bubba Bean introduced us to Vinnie's Italian - and what an introduction it was! Kaitlin was a great server, pleasant, efficient and funny. The food? Phenomenal. We started with the Garlic Knots aka 10 pieces of buttery, garlicky goodness with Parmesan cheese on house made bread twists for only $5.75. I dare you to look at the picture and not drool. I had the 11" Meatball Sub. If you've been missing A Slice Of Napoli's meatball sub, this is the best I've found. The bread was perfectly toasted, the meatballs were juicy and the right texture, REALLY good marinara, lots of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese made the perfect sandwich. Hubs got spaghetti and meatballs, SP got the Vinnie's Pasta which had diced chicken breast, garlic, olive oil and broccoli in a cream sauce and she chose penne. This review is based on takeout only. We placed an order for takeout for a large NY style pepperoni pizza and was told it would be about 15-20 minutes. The pizza was exactly what we have been craving lately. It isn't overly greasy like some pizzas can be and found the crust to have the right amount of chew. I'm not an expert on NY style pizza but from what we have had when in NYC, I would say this is pretty close to what I remember having.
