Great place to grab a drink!…read more This place has a wide enough selection for everybody to choose from draft cocktails to draft beers. You can come with a group of friends and enjoy some conversation. I will also say the bartenders are great as they don't rush you and help you with the menu making things pretty seemless. It's a smaller place creating a more intimate setting that allows for great time to catch up with friends or spend time with the special someone. I enjoyed their draft old fashioned as it was better than most old fashioned on draft.

We sat down at one of their cozy booths after a bit and hung out. The vibe is homey, cozy, rustic, and just good vibes overall. They have cool decor with huge plants and wood all around. The lighting makes it nice and cozy but not too dark. It's great during the day or later at night when the sun sets. I ordered their on tap espresso martini. It was super good! It had a strong coffee flavor which I really like, I do wish I saved that for my last drink of the night because it was very dessert like. I also ordered a 5oz Guinness which was perfectly poured and just the right size for what I wanted. It made sense it was perfectly poured since the bartender was Irish! He was great with getting drinks out quickly and always being cheerful with all of the guests, no matter how busy it was. Another must see Tosa/Milwaukee spot because it is just that good!

I came here to watch a game with some friends on a snowy night. It was pretty quiet when we got there around 5 but picked up as the night went on The decor...first thing in noticed is there isn't too much sports memorabilia on the walls. People have commented on that and I'm torn..the walls do look a little bare but overall its a nice clean look that eliminates that kind of junky look sports bars some times take on. TVs..lots of them! Its easy to watch a game here and the high top tables and chairs were very comfy...bar seats looked similar. We got appetizers to share at the table..fried pickles (whole picke spears!), quesadillas, and wings. The wings came eith with both blue cheese and ranch that were very good and lots of carrots and celery. All the apps were decent but wings were my favorite. They had a happy hour special (I think $2 off most drinks?) They had a decent amount of NA drinks and I had an athletic IPA and Heineken 0. Our server was the nicest girl and she got us our food super quick and accommodated all our requests. Another great perk is the parking lot in the back! North Ave can be busy for parking alot of times Final result - im a fan! Great game watching spot in east Tosa.

Second time is not a charm…read more Round one Popped into Growlers late with my sister after a late flight while visiting. It's close to my second home, and I wanted to check it out. I asked what time the kitchen closed--got a flat "10" from the bartender. It was almost 11, so fine. Then I asked about their Bloody Mary mix. Instead of a simple answer, he launched into some condescending monologue about how they make their own, but only for the daytime crowd--when people "actually drink Bloodies." Cool, thanks for the attitude. It was clear pretty fast that this guy had no interest in being remotely welcoming. I pivoted and ordered the Lambeau Leap Mule. Turns out they were out of melon liqueur--whatever, it happens--but instead of offering literally any substitute (ever heard of schnapps?), he just dropped the other ingredients on the bar and walked away. No comment. No effort. Then, because this trainwreck wasn't done, he got into a heated scheduling argument with his younger coworker right in front of us. Completely unprofessional and incredibly awkward. I mentioned we might leave, and he scoffed. Like we were the problem. Round Two, better than the first but still mediocre at best. I am relatively certain this was a different person but the vibes were the same, think hipstery gatekeeping bartender meets bare minimum effort. Unsure if I will try again.

He went early to get our bake on the list and they were spot on with the wait time. We did sit outside which I think sped things up. We all ordered an assortment of coffee beverages. There are so many great options on the menu and I was torn between three. Luckily one of my friends was torn between two of the same ones I was looking at so she split them. The spam omelette was delicious and paired well with the Johnny cakes. The Johnny cakes are massive and we ended up both taking leftovers home of that. The orange blossom syrup was really good with it. Our server was attentive and stayed on top of water refills which was appreciated as it was a warm day to be eating outside. They also have a second location which I am eager to try.

Our server was fun to chat with and definitely made the experience a bit more interesting. I stopped in for brunch on a Wednesday around 11am and snagged the last open table. Ordered the Steak & Eggs and was impressed by the value; healthy portion, reasonable price. Perfectly cooked medium rare steak with chimichurri, crispy-runny eggs, and excellent potatoes holding it all together. The food is thoughtfully plated without trying too hard, and the prices feel fair for the quality. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been. Another lil Milwaukee gem!

It's always highly entertaining to watch people's reactions when you tell them to meet you at Tosa…read moreTavern, and when they ask where that is to tell them it's inside Whole Foods. :) First, the beer. Tosa Tavern regularly has tap takeovers from breweries all over the country. When they do, there are major discounts on some very hard to find beer. (We got a tulip of Dogfish Head 120 for $3.00 and were pretty sure someone was going to lose their job because of it!) The distributors always hang around to chat with you and provide some swag if you're enjoying one of their beers. The prices are insane on regular beers as well, and you're going to be hard pressed to find better prices on craft brews anywhere in town. Tosa Tavern also serves food and it's solid. They used to have loaded tots which were tater tots that were stuffed with amazingness inside the shell, but I think they moved away from that which is the saddest thing I've seen in awhile. Their sandwiches are good and their burgers are standard. They even have deals on their burgers and sandwiches on Thursday nights. As a bonus, you can literally buy anything in Whole Foods and eat it in the bar area. If you aren't feeling burgers, go grab a slice of pizza or food from their hot buffet or sushi and grab a beer. There's a couple of large tvs, charging ports under the bar, and trivia on Thursdays. As of right now Tosa Tavern is still pretty light on the attendance but I'm quite honestly hoping it stays that way. The only bummer is that they close at 9 pm when the actual store closes. So keep an ear out for last call or you'll be disappointed!

My friends who grew up nearby swore it was the best pizza in the city. My parents were loyal to Pizza Man on North Avenue back then and after the fire we enjoyed Ned's. Here's a run down of my time at Hup's 1. Atmosphere The space is old school and straightforward. The parking lot is small, and the lobby is even smaller. About two people can wait comfortably at a time. Anything over two and they've become your boyfriend! There are no chairs, and orders are passed through a small opening at the bottom of a glass protected order window. No dinning in. You get your food and GO! 2. Pricing Prices are reasonable for the quality you get. Simple menu cost of pizza sizes, additional toppings, garlic bread, and cheese bread. The toppings are typical too. Nothing exotic or fancy, meat, veggies, and cheese. Oh and it's cash only. Make sure to know your total before you arrive so you're prepared. 3. Food I can't even lie, the pizza is everything people said it would be. Thin, crispy crust with good amount of toppings, cheese, and sauce. Their garlic and cheese bread are straightforward too. An Italian loaf, loaded with melted butter, and sprinkled with garlic salt and if you ordered cheese they give you a generous amount of mozzarella cheese . Just like the pizza it's simple and delicious. 4. Service I called in my order, and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived five minutes later than that, and our pizza was waiting. The same gentleman who took my order handled checkout. He was friendly and efficient. No complaints at all. TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION: I will absolutely be back. Hup's has now become what Pizza Man was to my parents...a Friday night staple when we don't feel like cooking or dinning in somewhere. A damn good one too, if you ask me!
