We recently had our group luncheon (15) at Ella a most pleasant afternoon. The food was delicious and ample as well as the beverages. Staff friendly and very patient. We called and asked if they were Handicap accessible and they said yes! We explained that I was in a motorized wheelchair so we Drive to the restaurant and we park! For the next 5 or so minutes we went around looking for the handicap entrance. We found it but there were a couple problems 1. A huge planter was in the way and 2. I was a fan of Ella years ago and can't get the love back. My companion and I were simply disappointed - we had salads as our entrees and they missed the beat. Buffalo chicken and grilled shrimp left us with a "meh." We felt like we were getting short-changed somehow and the kitchen was cutting corners on quality and amounts. Even the olives were tiny. Love the menu and the quality of the food and quite reasonable too! It is nice to be greeted by the owner and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Only advice I would recommend,having managed a fine dining restaurant, is offering fresh ground pepper from a pepper mill when the food is served really adds to the panache of the restaurant. I've been a Rocklander most of my life but I'm only just now discovering the restaurant scene in New City. Ella is a fantastic little Italian restaurant with a bar but don't expect to watch the game here. While there are televisions, this place is made for eating (Duh!) and enjoying your company. This place is awesome. Everyone thinks it's an Italian restaurant but I asked the owner and he said it's supposed to be mainly Greek with an Italian influence but I see Italian. The waitress did not know the menu well and my food was not very tasty. The pasta was cold. The salmon seemed frozen, not fresh.

Tried Ella once before and was not impressed. Thought we would give it another chance. It was crowded early Friday evening. Service was very good. We both ordered Eggplant parmigian. It was very dry, you only tasted the breading. The salad served with it was very basic, bad dressing, old lettuce, one slice of cucumber, two small tomatoes. We won't be going back. read more

My wife and I have had dinner here several times over the past six months, and the food has been exceptionally fresh and well prepared. We have had the salmon,and most recently, the scrod. The quality was equal to any restaurant in the Hudson Valley area. However, if you want to try a really great dish, have the veal parm! Just great. Service is attentive and friendly. Was first time coming in. Looked great. Took the waitress over 5 minutes to seat us, then with had no water for over 10 minutes, gave us bread before menus, and that took over 10 minutes also, and the party of 6 that came in after us got menus. picked ella over other new city restaurants, because we wanted to be able to talk and catch up. we didn't know what to expect foodwise but were more than pleasantly surprised. stuffed clams were excellent - salad w blue cheese dressing was outstanding. a blue cheese that was of perfect consistency and salad that did not look like it had been sitting forever. i had a craving for steak, which i don't usually order in an italian restaurant but it was perfectly done for me - with a beautiful side of freshly sauteed veggies and beautifully roasted potatoes. i am very picky, not a food snob though, but rate ella as my new goto restaurant in the new city area. service was very very friendly, house pinot was excellent too. will absolutely be going back and try the italian/greek specialties! read more

Ella has decent food at good prices. They have a variety of choices on their menu, from large salads to Italian and Greek staples. It won't knock your socks off but its good and the bill will not bankrupt you. read more

The food is so consistent in looks and taste that it took me a while to figure out that it is not prepared from a scratch at the restaurant. There is no way that anyone can prepare a dish exactly the same in appearance and taste over a period of several years. Generally, the service is good and the restaurant is in a great location. I took my wife and two children to dinner at Ella's on a Friday night. We arrived a little early as my children are both young were politely greeted by the the waitress. The owner (Billy) also introduced himself to us and made us feel very comfortable. We had a combination of entrees and appetizers with a few highlights. 1) The fried calamari - The serving size was perfect for my family to share and was perfectly prepared. 2) Main Dish - Each main dish was excellent and fitting to what was expected by the menu description. 3) Ice Cream - The kids got ice cream for dessert. I don't know what kind they serve but my wife and I did all we could to refrain from eating it all :) I would recommend anyone try Ella's. We were extremely satisfied! read more

While it was okay for years before, our last two visits were really bad. The eggplant parm is dry, flavorless and overpriced for the quality. The only good thing here is their Greek Lemon chicken soup but their pasta dish and calamari left my husband done with this place and our friends were disappointed in their choices, too. Really good food! They have oven brick pizzas, salad,soup,pasta a kids menu and many many more dishes. But they do have slow service, a lot of times you have to wait like 20 minutes. The food is good so worth the wait. Great place to go for a fancy occasion or a nice family dinner, if your not in a rush go there! read more

Ella is a favorite spot for me and my family, and a place we enjoy taking friends to when they come to visit. Never been disappointed. Generally busy, but that's what you'd expect with a terrific neighborhood spot. Never had to wait an unreasonable length of time to be seated.
