Food truck's loss was our gain. Poor road conditions meant the mall location was unexpectedly open today! Got to pick up early dinner after the movies. The Rancher sandwich and Kimchi tacos from today's menu only partially made it home. Had to have a taste before we pulled out of the parking lot. Maybe half made it home. :-) Staff was friendly and made the wait pleasant. And they told us how to keep up with their changing menu and schedule: https://www.facebook.com/ellasacreshomestead

Food is so fresh and delicious! Can't believe something like this exists in this area, and it's so needed! Plenty of seating! A must try!

The best part of this restaurant was their waitress. I didn't catch her name, but she was incredibly kind with a brown ponytail and sweet aura. She can tell I was traveling alone and gave me a list of all the places to check out in the area! I'm so lucky to have met her and plan to check out recommendations from her list

We found the Elf in the Oak on Yelp and once we saw the menu, we knew we had to give it a try. The Elf in the Oak is nestled on Rt 414. If you're not actively using a GPS, you may pass it by. It's not a large place by any means, but there's more than enough seating indoors and out. We went on a Friday morning, so there wasn't a wait and we received our food quickly. We both wanted 'the Spicy' and I have to admit, it's one of the best egg sandwiches I've ever had, which is high praise coming from someone who once worked at a popular bagel joint on Long Island. If we lived locally, we'd definitely go back, but I hope if you're looking for a quick casual brunch place to grab a bite, you consider visiting the Elf In The Oak.

We had pancakes, chicken and waffles, farmer's daughter, tacos etc. Portions were generous and fresh. Everyone was happy with their orders. Great coffee! You don't see a lot of breakfast place that serves great coffee. Usually it's just your good old brewed coffee. Lots of options here. Cappuccino, lattes, red eye, espresso and more. You name it they will make it. Place is spacious but it does get busy. Get there early specially on the weekend. Highly recommend this place and will be back if visiting again. Staff is professional, patient and helpful. You order and pay at the counter then your food will be delivered at your table.

As the line to the register was busy, we opted to sit and order from the table. I ordered chicken and waffles, and my brother ordered a farmhouse burger and fries. The waffle was average but cooked nicely. The chicken was nice and crispy to hold up to some syrup over top. My brother's burger looked good, and I tried one of his fries. They were thin but not overcooked. Very tasty. The servers who brought the food to the tables were very friendly. I would definitely come back again when in the area.

We ordered a 6 piece garlic parm wing, a large house made fries, a small sweet potato fries, fried cauliflower, a Rachael, a pulled pork bbq sandwich and a buffalo chicken cheesesteak with extra cheese. We also ordered extra blue cheese and celery (Don't judge, it was a birthday weekend). The hose made fries were excellent and my wife enjoyed the sweet potato fries. Those come with an amazing "secret" dipping sauce. The pulled pork sandwich was a half pound of spilling off the bun deliciousness. The cauliflower bites were better than a nationally known wing place by far. She tried the wings first and they were super crunchy so I didn't try them, but she said the cook and flavor was great. Next we tried the Buffalo chicken cheesesteak. It was very tasty and tender. Now my wife is the Rachel fan and I always take a bite when she orders it and she said it was great and I wasn't disappointed at all in my tasing of it. Now like I said we ordered takeout and this is a restaurant/bar in the mountains of PA. Everyone is super sweet who works there but you might catch a look from a local. They have an excellent dining room and are very welcoming. Just realize you are in an extremely small town and enjoy the experience. It's a nice slow area and everyone is friendly.
