Stopped by for dinner after a day in/around Corning. Were able to sit at a table on the top (3rd) level, which was nice and quiet. Our server was very nice & attentive as well. Ordered some corn nuggets to share, and then our entrees. My pulled pork on my sandwich was perhaps a bit fatty for my liking, but otherwise had a bit of smoke to it... and a little bit of bark on the ends. Probably could have used more sauce though. Service, food, and overall ambience were all fine... no complaints, but the place is very no frills. Walking in the smell of BBQ hits like a roadside stand in the middle of no where. The place is clean and wasn't real busy on a Friday afternoon. The waitress was really friendly. We tried the 1/4 lb platter. With fries and potato salad. The pulled pork was amazing. Great flavor and very tender. The smoked sausage was as good as any smoked sausage I have had in upstate NY. The chicken was also very tender and had a good smoked flavor. The ribs had a lot of flavor and were not over cooked like some places do. The brisket.... Was brisket.... Maybe it wasn't made today which is fine. It tasted more like a roast than a brisket. My wife and I differ on our opinions of BBQ houses. I like to try the meats before I put any sauce on. My wife like it covered beforehand. This place doesn't smother it but does put it on before I got a chance to try the meats. The potato salad was ok but not bursting in flavor. The only part of the meal I really liked was the broccoli, which had been cooked with bacon. This small place is the bomb. The museum staff highly recommended it and we were please. We were there for lunch, so the street parking was mostly occupied. Going around behind the place is a paid lot where I found a shaded spot ($0.78 for 90 minutes). Food, good selection of bbq and appropriate sides. Texas twinkies were perfect. Shelley was our waitress and did a nice job providing service while still working the bar. Rustic atmosphere and not too loud during lunch so we could talk while waiting for the food to arrive. Think taxidermy. And Wild West. Pretty cool stuff. We decided to have some local drafts. IPA and a Shriners bock. Menu was loaded with a ton of choices and combinations. Nice little place on Market St in Corning. Service was friendly all the servers were helpful and so nice...but maybe a little overworked? It seemed like most of them were running up and down the stairs (there are two floors) and so, at times a little salute to get to the table. The food was good...but we've been spoiled by our own local bbq place! Meats could have been smoked a little longer. Cole slaw was delicious!! Although I reviewed this in Feb. 2023 it was before they did a complete remodel. Now it is cleaner, fresher and more appealing than ever. We still consider it one of the best places for chicken barbeque. The food is always excellent, hot and fresh. The lunch plate came with my choice of protein (chopped brisket) on top of a sad wilted lettuce, a side of choice (potato salad) and a soft drink of choice. The brisket itself was good. I'm going to go with two stars because the waitress was awesome, she was very polite attentive & understanding. Upon entering I noticed there weren't any customers in the restaurant, despite there being no parking spaces available on the street out front. (There's metered parking behind the restaurant, free on the weekends) I thought the restaurant was going to be packed, but not. The menu did not display prices for the items, you had to use your scanner to bring up a separate menu for prices, on that menu it shows there are two prices for each dish, a cash price and an increased card price, I'm not sure if each individual dish has the up charge or is it just a one time up charge on your entire tab. I did end up leaving the restaurant without finishing my meal because the smoked wings I ordered had what I believed to be a spoiled odor once I've bitten into it, they also was too pink on the inside for my liking, which I was told that's how they look once they are smoked, the french fries were soaked in oil (as you can see in the picture), I apologized to the waitress & left a few $$ for the trouble but I just could not continue with the undesirable meal. We started with an order of hushpuppies to share and ended up deciding to share a Two-Meat Combo platter for our lunch. We chose the the chicken and chopped brisket as our proteins. Sliced Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and ribs were also options. For sides, we went with coleslaw and baked beans. Other options included potato salad, mac salad, tossed salad, fresh cut fries, or veggie of the day. Finally, there was a choice of bread. We went with the Garlic Texas Toast but also ordered two corn muffins on the side. Looking back at their website, I see that there was also a choice of a few different BBQ sauces which we didn't notice at the time. I would assume that the default sauce we received on our meal and was available on the table was the Sweet BBQ. If you prefer more heat than sweet, it appears that was an option. The meat was tender and the sides were really at the top of their class. Both my partner and I are picky coleslaw and we both were pleased with the cut on the cabbage, the amount of dressing, and crunch factor. But the beans were wow! I think this is one of the really fun things with food. When you're sure you've tasted the best and then someone/someplace comes along and tops that! There was pork in these, but that's common. I couldn't figure out what else made these so special both in flavor and viscosity. Maybe molasses? If anyone has a great recipe for homemade baked beans, please share in the comments. Very disappointing: after rave reviews and recommendations from local folks, I expected better. The ribs were a bright spot, and everybody but me seemed to think the baked beans were noteworthy, but let's be honest, folks. The pulled port was dried out and tasteless, and the brisket was dry and overdone. Most of these two items got left on the plate. People *did* like the green beans and onions cooked in bacon grease, though, which included lots of bacon. Neither of the two BBQ sauces -- sweet and chipotle -- was worth eating, IMO, and neither had any kick at all. I ate half of a small corn muffin that seemed to have bee re-heated in the microwave. Also, the beer on tap (it was a bock) was flat. If you've every eaten BBQ in Texas or have a good BBQ joint from any region near home, my advice is: go across the street for pizza. read more

Have been there twice and certainly not the best bbq but not all bad. The biggest problem IMO is the meat tastes like it has been held for a long time. It is dry and the brisket is overcooked. The sauce is nothing special. They seem have potential but need to make a few changes to really improve the meat, which is why people go to bbq. Their tap system needs a good servicing as well the beer was cold but had a metallic aftertaste. Sides are pretty good as is the service. The place looks decent enough and seems clean. We were really excited to find a standalone barbecue restaurant on the main strip in town, while visiting for a wedding. Walked up and down the strip to consider all places available and chose this establishment. Unfortunately, after waiting an hour, we had not yet received our food. Was told 3X "your food will be right up" for at least 10-15 minutes. Only got to try the meal after a 30 minute ride back to the airport to drop off the rental car; half cold and soggy - super upsetting after all the waiting. For BBQ, I generally expect cool times under 45 mins. It was a pretty normal Sunday afternoon; not overflowing or that busy. Next time, a warning about 45+ wait times after ordering would be a nice courtesy. Rating 2/5* because the cold food wasn't horrible tasting. So, I already had speculations at this place. We came in during Sparkle 2021 and it was a decent 15-20 minute wait. However, during the wait once we were called it was another 20 minutes to be seated. My friend ordered a side salad with ranch dressing, and they never gave him dressing! Also, the ginger ale tastes like soap. The sodas are all flat. They gave us our orders and forgot to add the coleslaw to the chefs special sandwich. They also forgot I too ordered food. I understand understaffed, but this is sketchy. Food was greasy, chicken tenders were burnt & the chefs special had no flavor & the bread was so greasy! Myself and my girlfriend could not have had a better experience here. The prices were on point the food was overflowing! The quality was excellent. The place had a great environment. We went last Saturday right at lunchtime and it wasn't too packed there was plenty of room for everyone in the restaurant. The restaurant is divided in a nice way so that the tables feel more private even though they have plenty of seating. I was very impressed with this restaurant. Awesome! This is as close to TX BBQ as I can find nearby. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered: ribs, sliced brisket, Mac salad, potato salad, pound cake and sweet tea. I am SO HAPPY they actually have sweet tea instead of giving me sugar packets. THAT'S TEXAS!! I liked both the sweet and spicy bbq sauces. It's nice to have both options. Sides were good, mac salad coulda used a little salt to bring the sweetness down a little, but still very yummy. No a fan of the cornbread but I'll opt for TX toast next time. I also prefer my meats to be smoked a little longer, but this was good enough for me! The grilled pound cake was simple and excellent - and for $1? LOVE THAT!!
