Rude!!! We just left there after a horrible experience. We've been coming here for 2 years once a week. Today we had the worst customer service we've ever had. They've always been somewhat inconsiderate but today takes the cake!! My son accidentally spilled his chocolate milk and They actually reprimanded my 3 year old! He started crying and kept apologizing to them while they tisked and spoke in Vietnamese to each other shaking their heads. My son who is only three even offered to help clean it up and they just shooed him away. I love to support local mom and pop shops but in this case, do yourself a favor and go to Dunkin Donuts down the street. read more

I came here to ass the time while my tire got patched next door at Ian's. This is probably the worst service in all of SB. Rude and unintelligible. No effort to be congenial, no smiling, no eye contact. Totally dismissive. Tossing items at you in a bag across the counter, even tho eating it in. This review is for their Thai food at lunch. Service is a blend of rude meets oblivious. Value is low. $12.95 for soup served in styrofoam. Taste was fine but all the other aspects trumped it. NEVER EVER GO HERE! The owner or whatever is the rudest and has no customer service! I went in and he got my order wrong, when I ordered an additional boba drink, he said he wouldn't take my card because I was $1 short of the credit card minimum. By far the best doughnuts in town! I personally hate Dunkin' Donuts. Ellers doughnuts are dense and perfectly cakey. They always taste fresh and the service is always prompt. It's kind of random but they also sell pretty delicious boba tea. I highly recommend supporting this local store. I chose a few doughnuts and the lady gave me a completely different order than what I chose. When I went back to get the correct ones I picked out, THEY CHARGED ME MORE! At that point I just asked for a refund and left doughnut-less which I wasn't too mad about. Ironically, as I was getting my refund, another customer had come back because the milk he purchased was expired and tasted bad. He was visibly upset and they just replaced his milk. They had to look through several other expired containers before they could find one that WASNT expired. Such a shame, this place used to be fantastic plus they used to sell decent Thai food. A better donut experience in Santa Barbara. I've been to Spudnuts and I have to say Eller's is a star above. The fritter was crispy and delicious! I would prefer a tastier donut with more apple and cinnamon but the crispiness and icing was proper! I like their style of injecting jelly into many different donuts and donut holes. The jelly filled hole was good, I usually shy away from the jelly filled because it is too much jelly and not enough donut, not today. I'm into food adventuring--so when I saw Thai food listed here, I thought, yes, I will try. Well, took a very long time for the Pahd Thai to come out and when it did it was a huge congealed mass of many many tiny broken noodles - I kept thinking, was I served all the bits and pieces of broken noodles they'd been saving for years? I hate Spudnuts. So ever since i moved to IV I've been hunting down a better donut shop because Spudnuts just ain't it. I stumbled across Ellers last weekend and I'm already planning a return trip! Terrible service. The lady who was taking our order made us repeat everything we just said because she wasn't paying attention literally right after she asked the question of what we wanted. Just based on the doughnuts this place would get 5 stars. Unfortunately the service requires at least 1 star off. They hook it up with extra donut holes but I've never once gotten a smile. Also in this day and age if your going to have a minimum amount to use a debit/credit card and or a fee for using your card you need to let people know in the beginning. I have been coming here since I was a little kid and the donuts have always been spot on. We used to get the box of day old donuts and resell them at our yard sales with coffee & people loved them. They were also a morning staple when I would head to Disneyland with a good friends family on the way out of town. Lots of fond memories and glad the donuts are still delicious.. I recommend the fritters (apple, blueberry) even my picky husband liked them. I have never got the Thai food here and probably won't, so I can't say anything about that. However the donuts are my favorite in town. Also the family who runs it is very friendly and always slips in some complimentary donut holes & a day old or two with your order. read more

I had tried Eller's one time before because a coworker had brought in a box but this was first time I went to buy on my own. I came here on a Saturday morning at around 730am, so I didn't think they would run out of donuts since it was the weekend. I pulled up and two ppl were already leaving the store with their donut boxes so I knew the place would be popular. The donut man was very nice and he even put extra donut holes in my boxes for free. I was craving donuts and I couldn't help myself so I got a dozen and a half lol. The place had plenty of donuts so they were not going to run out. You can see the quality of the donuts through the glass, whereas compared to spudnuts when I got there I could tell spudnuts was not as good quality. Well now I know where my go to place for donuts is and it's just down the street. Best of all the donuts taste really good too, I think the best ones so far are the glazed and jelly filled donuts. Raunchy place and counter person. Work people going back-and-forth with her family members. We stood at the counter totally ignored for over 5 minutes. Never greeted. Been eating here off & on thru the years and apparently what was true in past years is still true ... depends on who is cooking that day. First they ask you which curry - yellow - and then they add the meat protein chosen .. no other alteration that I was aware of. No fish curry so I had shrimp.. it smelled good but it didn't taste good. Lots of potatoes paired with onions and shrimp just didn't make it.. at least it had some spicy flavor which I asked them for. Absolutely nothing green in the curry... no veggies other than potatoes! Something was just off in the flavor and don't think I'll bother again... portions may be large but if it's not worth eating... AND their donuts are pricier than other bakeries AND not one lousy donut hole at the end of day to drown my sorrows with. read more

Stopped by while we were on vacation. I was craving Thai food so it really hit the spot. Two Thai ladies were working (One at the front and one in the kitchen). They were very nice and the pad thai noodles was delicious and very generous amount. They kindly put the to-go container in a small cardboard box for me so that I can eat in the car. I'll be honest: their donuts are amazing. Second only to maybe Anna's. But, Their service is awful. AWFUL. We ordered three drinks and after a 20-minute wait, put came two. We waited for the third, but the woman walked out of our view and after we patiently explained that we ordered three drinks (and showed her our receipt) she groaned loudly and slowly began to make our third drink. She stopped in the middle and after waiting even longer we walked out. Not an SB native but I've been to Anna's a few times and compared with them, God was this a bad experience. Worst I've had here. Stumbled upon this spot while waiting for my car to get new tires a few doors down. Came in for a donut and coffee and was very impressed with the unique ambiance. Got an old fashion and a coffee, they threw in a few free donut holes and I liked those the best! Fun to kick back and watch the varieties that people order!
