My appointment in Allen was canceled this morning and I was rescheduled with Mia in Frisco. It was meant to be. She's amazing and so sweet, very attentive, and listened to exactly what I wanted. The vibe is chill and relaxing. Mia's service is impressive and how she cares about every detail including glass covers so my glasses don't get color on them. In addition to Mia's excellent customer service, I overheard the stylist next to me speaking with her client about her services. I was beyond impressed that this stylist not only recommended the best service, not the most expensive. The client thought they needed extra services but in reality didn't. This stylist could have easily just charged her but she was honest. This shows me in addition to Mia's amazing service that Tangerine employs top notch employees. While it wasn't in my plans to come to Frisco, I am so glad I did. I'll definitely return here. It was worth the extra few minutes of drive time. read more

Kevin is a very good stylist clearly he knows what he's doing. And I absolutely love Aveda product. Lots of parking in garage easy access. The front desk people are good too as long as you don't catch them all being busy gossiping and putting makeup on. read more

Update: Management reached out with a sincere apology and did their best to resolve my situation. I was able to get a proper layered cut from an alternate salon a few days later to improve the style of my hair, however, chin length is still several inches shorter than shoulder length and it will be months of growing out before I love my hair again. Still, I appreciated management's concern and care to my unfortunate situation and one bad haircut isn't a reflection of the entire salon or it's other stylists. read more

So I've been debating whether to leave this review or not but I'm just gonna go ahead and do so without calling out the stylist because I think it's important. I lost a lot of my hair from cancer treatments and virgin hair has now grown back, and I was prepping / glamming for an important event the following week. A little long but bear with me: I just moved to Dallas from LA via NYC and after scouring the depths of internet hell to find a new colorist/stylist, I went down a rabbit hole of perfectly curated Instagrams to find one at Tangerine. The Good: I made an appointment for highlights and extensions, but they told me I needed to see them beforehand for a consult, an appointment I was lucky to be able to snag two days before the highlights / extension applications were set to take place. The communication between the schedulers or front desk with customers is impeccable. Regardless of what's coming up below, the stylist was kind and did try to find alternatives for me. The Bad: I say "lucky" above because appointments at Tangerine are elusive. I decided to add the extensions because their website heavily stresses the message of "single salon service." "With a single salon service, you can change your entire look. It is not just about long hair, but about full hair - hair with volume. Wake up with the hair you've always dreamed of with our innovative VOMOR hair extensions that takes a fraction of the time and cost of traditional hair extensions."-Tangerine Website After making the hour trip to the consult, I was there at BEST five minutes. She sat me down, I showed her pictures of the color and length I was looking for, to which she responds: "The thing is your hair has too much texture and so the extensions would look weird. Like I just don't want to lie to you or waste your time." Like yes, totally what a cancer patient wants to hear- how weird they look. Those are just my own personal sensitivities though. She did explain the extensions are super thin but that regardless, it would take at least a week or two to order, wait to receive them, etc. That is not at all what the website implied, but I do appreciate her not wasting my time. She referred me to a friend at another salon, which I went to the next day, and same exact response. Red Flag #1. I was like hysterically crying just out of rage / frustration that this was becoming so difficult, reaching out to a million different people on Yelp who may be able to do quick turnaround extensions. I finally found one and scheduled the appointment for the same day as my highlights (kept my appointment at Tangerine) and just hop on over to salon #2 for extensions. I arrive at Tangerine for my highlight appointment. I show her the color again. Now she says that she can't promise my hair will turn out that shade of blonde because it's "too dark" to get the color I wanted. She made me sign a waiver stating this. This was something she literally could have told me at the consult two days earlier when she said extensions were not possible. Red Flag #2. First of all, this is incorrect. I've been to a number of stylists in LA and NYC who have made me as blonde as I want in one session. She starts the process, finishes the foils, we go to wash.... No heat lamp...? No sitting there for at least 45 mins to two hours like people (me) normally do to let it process? I don't think I've ever left a salon in under five hours. It felt like she was just trying to get me over with as quickly as possible. Red Flag #3. Luckily, my hair did not turn out a mess and I was satisfied enough with the result to leave the salon without losing my shit. I went to salon #2 to get extensions. As it turns out....?
