This tea shop inside the thrift store is just the cutest. The salad sampler was really good and they did a great job with giving me cucumbers in lieu of crackers. The absolute sweetest staff ever, wow! The kindness of the entire staff stood out immediately. They really have an exceptional team here. I put my purchases in my car and wanted to grab a little lunch after shopping. I had a table for one and chose the Southern Lady menu option so I'd get to try a little bit of several of their offerings. Everything was yummy (egg salad, chicken salad, cucumber sandwich, pimento cheese) and the peach mango tea was so refreshing. After an extremely challenging week, Ellie's felt like the type of place that heals the soul. I had a couple of different afternoon tea options back home that I loved. It was a lovely surprise to stumble upon this option here, in what's becoming one of my most intriguing shopping spots in town. I'll definitely dress up one afternoon and head back n for afternoon tea (advance booking required). They had several large parties taking place, which was really nice to see. This is definitely the afternoon tea spot of Plano. Bravo for the superb staff and yummy tea sandwiches, salad and scones. If I could change anything at all, I think a dollop of cream and jam with the scone could be a really nice touch. The scone was perfect as is, I'm just a lover an additional condiment/spread. There isn't a dress code here, folks are casual and in for a little bite others are in afternoon tea attire who are gathering for events hosted here. All are welcome. For those who may be reading this review from out of town, I'll preface that my reviews are all based on the experience for what they are, in their own town. I recently attended a wedding and Ellie's was the caterer that provided the food for the dinner reception. There were two entree options for dinner - salmon or chicken. I selected chicken and it was amazing! It was served hot and it was moist and delicious! There were several choices available for sides - mixed vegetables, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, bread slices, etc. Everything that I had on my plate was delicious. So good in fact, that I went back up to the serving line to see who catered. I found a small stack of Ellie's business cards at the end of the table. This was my first visit under the new owner of this restaurant. I saw many familiar faces working here and it was great to see that the new owner has members of the old staff onboard. The ambiance and decor is still beautiful and fits the antique mall motif beautifully. Besides the name changing to Ellie's, the thing I noticed most was the difference in the food. The food looked and smelled and tasted delicious. While I had a bite (or two or three!) of the other people with me's food, I had the Strawberry Cake and it was delicious! I've just come from getting a bite at Ellie's Café by myself, which gives me an opportunity to absorb my surroundings! There were several very large parties and as they all came in, they're grouping together, chatting, hugging. Then you have Selvin's family (Owner's family) who all work in different roles at Ellie's Café. Many regulars know them and there's more welcoming hugs! It just seems very festive and welcoming - like you're being entertained in their home. I'm on a mission to try every new item on their extensive menu. Today I tried two new salads. Their cauliflower- broccoli salad is excellent with a nice mix of bacon, onion, and pumpkin seeds. I also ordered their strawberry fluff salad, which is the replacement to the strawberry pretzel salad. It's very interesting with a marshmallow fluff concoction, small Jell-O pieces, and I'm not sure what else is in there, but it is yummy! To top it off, they added toffee-coated pretzels crumbled to the top of the strawberry fluff! Very inventive. So anytime I'm looking for good food and a hug... Ellie's cafe is a hidden gem located inside Highstreet Antique mall in Plano. To my delight I was happy to hear my favorite afternoon tea place remains open with a new name, expanded menu, and signature salads, baked goods, and teas. Ellie's cafe is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous rose mural serving as the backdrop for afternoon high tea with the gals or, lunch with family and friends. My mom loves this place for its ambiance and light entrees served on elegant China dishes. We enjoyed the various tea selections and sipped on Almond Apple Vanilla tea.enjoyed the trifecta salad, pick 2/3 items from pre-selected menu. We chose $1M chicken salad, ham/gig sandwich, and jalapeño chicken soup. All were savory and delicious. Service was fast and scones are the best I have had in Texas with their flaky, buttery crust and top with jam-heavenly. We can't wait to go back for more delicious treats to try. Owner/Manager is very nice and always makes a point to say hello to us. We enjoy speaking with him. His family is the sweetest and they make you feel like part of their family! We highly recommend this place and cannot wait to go back and enjoy Hight Tea afternoon and fashion show. This is hands down my favorite spot to visit with my mom. From the moment you walk in, you're wrapped in such a warm, welcoming energy. The owners actually make an effort to come around, say hello, and even offer a hug which truly feels like being at home. The tea is, without exaggeration, the best I've ever had. Have eaten here twice since the rebranding, and both times the food and service were great. First time I had the Tuscan panini, and it was really delicious. Second time I had the chicken avocado sandwich. Both sandwiches come with chips and a salad. Great portion sizes and very fresh. The bread on the Avocado Chicken sandwich was so soft and delicious. I was looking forward to Ellie's opening - with the same family that managed the Chocolate Angel in the High Street locale for so many years. What a delight! I love sampler plates and Ellie's has hit that out of the park. There are many sampler combos to choose from, and I had the salad flight. It is a great way to try 7 of their salads and it was absolutely delicious. I loved every bite of the chicken salad (with grapes and pecans), tuna salad, macaroni salad, egg salad, broccoli salad and pimento cheese salad (two ways - plain and just slightly spicy). The plate was also served with crackers and a large scone right out of the oven (filled with golden raisins and white chocolate chips). They make the scones constantly throughout lunch, so they are warm and fresh. The menu is very extensive, with so many sandwiches I can't wait to try, like turkey with brie and blueberry compote on a buttery croissant. Or ham with brie and fig preserves on toasted wheat berry bread. Or a BLT-A on toasted sourdough (and maybe a fried egg.) For groups, there are shared appetizers like deviled eggs with pickled jalapeños and bacon, or pimento cheese with pepper jelly and crackers. There are also lots of green salad options, quinoa, wraps, soups, lovely desserts and teas. I love that they use the European way of paying, with a hand-held device so your credit card never leaves the table. It's fast and so efficient for big groups who want separate checks. The interior has new paint and signage with fresh tablecloths and a beautiful tea room ambiance. The service is as warm and friendly as ever. Everyone has a smile and a kind word. They've only been open 4 days but have been packed every day and haven't missed a beat. I can't wait to go back. Probably tomorrow! Kudos to Ellie's team. Great start! read more

The menu is similar ( wording ) and different as is the food . The famous pretzel salad is no longer .Instead a small bowl of gelatin mixed with cool whip and pretzels have replaced it . The chicken salad now has more of a shredded texture so it's different .The broccoli salad is chopped in fine pieces which also changes its texture .
