This place opened only about 2 weeks ago. Great lunch specials for mostly about $9 and it comes with choice of rice (white, brown, pork fried rice) and a soup (wonton, egg drop, hot and sour) or egg roll. The food is decent compared to other American Chinese fast food places. Satisfies the cravings. I had the beef chow fun lunch special with hot and sour soup. Also had the broccoli and bean curd lunch special with pork fried rice and egg roll. Had a side of steamed shrimp dumplings (8 pieces). I liked the broccoli and fried bean curd. The pork fried rice was delicious. It's not oily and rice was cooked just right, not mushy. It has bits of BBQ pork in it. The egg roll was fried nicely. The beef chow fun was good, but the chow fun is a bit on the softer side. The beef was big pieces. The hot and sour soup had more vinegar than I like, but it had plenty of mushrooms of different sorts. The steamed shrimp dumplings is just ok. For the same price, it's better to get another set of lunch special and get wonton soup. The take-out containers look smaller than other places, but it is filling enough. Can't really beat the lunch special prices, especially in the area.

I ordered a few lunch items from the menu here, and everything turned out really well! The shrimp chow fun was delicious, with a generous portion of shrimp, and the noodles were cooked just right. The lo mein and general tso's chicken were also really good. I loved the fried rice here as well! The meals came with spring rolls and wonton soup, both of which were really filling that I ended up eating the main lunch course later in the afternoon. The portions here are very generous, and I'm appreciative that they got everything right with my order! Will definitely come back again - the rest of their menu looked delicious.

Wanted to try this place as it opened recently. I tried the mixed dumplings first. When I opened the lid of the container the smell was so bad and overpowering. This was inedible, smelled and tasted rotten. I also ordered the twice cooked pork. The pieces of pork are mostly fat and gristle, so tough you can't even chew it. I feel I just wasted $20 on food that is completely inedible. Not happy

Ellie's is my go to for a quick, affordable, yet hearty meal in the UES! The portion sizes are HUGE, and the food is always delicious.

Delivery is promptly delivered, food is traditional and very fresh and tasteful. Pricing is reasonable in this high cost city nowadays

Fresh food - veggies cooked just right. The best Chinese in Yorkville, IMHO. Also very quick delivery.

Popular with lunchtime construction workers. Food offering quality below the Yorkville standard. Approach with extreme caution !

I wanted to make one for my friend that was shipping with me They didn't even help or anything and have a nasty attitude and don't honor manufacturer coupons

It's also the only grocery store I've seen in NYC, much less NY state, to have any type of Cheerwine on the shelves. If you go near the front where glass bottles of soda are located, you might just find Cheerwine Zero here like I have. I'd look for the sales since it's not that cheap here price wise and the store itself is tiny so selection can be a bit limited and it's not the most intuitive layout. I find it inconvenient that they have water and other items where the end of the checkout lines are so you can't meaningfully get that stuff unless you cut the line to go through an empty register to get it. I'm sure this has prompted more than one incident where a customer was accused of attempted shoplifting just for getting some soda or water they wanted to buy and didn't want to make a second trip for. The line can also get long and winding around here which I bet makes this issue worse. It's definitely convenient and not a bad option if you have EBT food money but if you don't, I wouldn't recommend doing all your weekly shopping here if you have the option to get better deals or more selection elsewhere.

When you eat in, sometimes there can be a short wait for a table. It's usually very busy. The food is overall good, but some dishes aren't as great. When I dine in, I tend to get the two egg platter. I actually really don't like their quesadillas, which is a bit disappointing. Love the curly fries, and I often order a salad with the Caesar dressing, which is great (very rich). I love Court Square Diner and would recommend it for eat in or pick up / delivery. It is a fixture in this neighborhood, and I hope it never closes.

I've been here twice - my recommendation is the Court Square Breakfast Wrap, which was quite good and came with a big serving of home fries. I did recently get the two eggs with toast and turkey bacon, and this was not as great; the bacon lacked flavor and the food was a bit too greasy. The ambience is solid and reminiscent of a classic old-school diner, and service is quick. Overall, this spot is super convenient and a solid (and maybe one of the only) late night spots in the area. If you want some decent diner food or a place to grab food late at night with friends, this is the spot. Otherwise, I would look first at the other great food options in the area!
