The young lady who took my order was very nice and customer service is a plus in my. I ended up getting the steamed shrimp and chicken dish with white rice and egg drop soup. The egg drop soup was a bit smaller amount than i'm used to getting, but I enjoyed the steam shrimp and chicken and look forward to trying the soup. Was in the mood for old school comfort food over the weekend, ordered delivery service from Ollie's. Ordered egg rolls, bbq pork, beef with broccoli and fried rice. The restaurant provided the option of not having soy sauce mixed in with the rice, which is a nice choice and makes for a lighter dish. The bbq pork was delicious, almost as good as what you might find in a Chinatown bbq restaurant. The beef with broccoli was cooked with broccoli florets in a lighter sauce. I always rate restaurants by the food, not the ambience, service. And look if they messed up your delivery...everyone makes mistakes, I give them the benefit of the doubt. But I'm giving Ollies a 3 even tho food wise it should be a 4.5 (at least the dishes I go for) They do a lot of good Chinese American classics well. The fried rice is good and the pork spareribs are exactly how I like them, BUT they are so skimpy on the portions. I pay for extra protein and it's less meat than the cheap places that have the same dishes for half the price. Take a look at my pork with garlic sauce where I paid for extra protein. It's pretty crazy that they're just stuffed the dish with the filler vegetables to save money. For Chinese Takeout standards it's actually kind of good, 3.5 stars. In some ways it gives you more authentic options with the pork belly buns and some of their other items you don't normally find on Chinese American takeout. On the other hand the quality of these items is less than desireable. The "bacon" bao or pork belly bao was quite dry and tough and the bao itself had disintegrated and didn't fit the bun. No real sauce on their either to attempt to counter the dryness Their basic chicken and bok choy was pretty good though, stepped up from normal Chinese takeout quality and was quite tender. I enjoyed that and would probably get it again just cause this place is now my neighborhood Chinese spot. However, it's a different experience from the comfort food that is the quick and dirty chicken and veggie Chinese takeout dishes that I am used to and so it doesn't quite hit that spot in the same way. It had a bit of a kick to it and the chicken was cut perfectly to allow convenient bites and even flavour as we paired it with the really fragrant rice.
