Wings and "fried" rice for $12 bucks.. do better
    Keke C.

    Sad bland wonton soup
    Heather W.

So disappointing since I'm so close to this place- saddest blandest most expensive not fresh wonton soup w 3 thin overcooked and underboiled 'wontons'; shrimp roll over fried/drenched w oil, and not an egg roll, fyi. Extensive menu but I'll not be trying anything else ...I came here on a whim, hungry and tired. No utensils our napkin given.

what is this rubbery what is this tasteless robbery weird pieces of food or whatever that I could not chew????? It was so nauseating

I keep trying it every year or four! I ordered in sesame chicken. The worst! Very dry, chewy, small little pieces, all different sizes and very fried and breaded! The worst I've ever had. I'd rather pay more and go elsewhere and for the same price or similar where it's better. Unfortunately, too many places over bread it but some don't! I feel like the chicken is shredded from someone that's leftover plate. And re-cooked/fried. Then I ordered moo shu. shrimp I said not oily. You could just cook it in chicken broth and if you have to use a little oil OK. It was overcooked and soggy vegetables with too much oil in it. The shrimp was not opaque. They were clear looking I don't mind the fact that they use small shrimp for that dish they have to for that dish, There is no quality here and with all the food poisoning out there and handling a food. I would be afraid to eat there again ever. I will not be trying this place ever again. It's gone downhill each time worse. I keep hoping for a miracle I guess. Stay away. Owner doesn't care. I was just telling her how I felt don't want any money back or another dish just telling her I won't be ordering anymore once again. She didn't care about anything! She said go somewhere else then They've been there so long. I wish a new one would come in. If people like that food, I don't get it. I guess some dishes are OK, but I don't know which. The place never looks real clean. They skimp on everything no plastic silverware no napkins no nothing anymore. Not a big deal but says something. I didn't even get a fortune cookie. PS I just wanted my fortune lol! I would stay away and I will never go back. I'm not looking to get sick and spend money for very very very lousy food of low quality. Wish I was writing a positive review would be nice if we had a new nice good food clean Chinese restaurant with a nice and caring attitude The green tea ice cream was the best thing! they didn't have to do anything to it! Sad pay 48$$$$ (plus tip )money for almost un edible improperly cooked, and the cheapest quality food. today we have to be even more cautious with all the bacteria out there and unhygienic conditions. sepsis can kill you!

Tofu and 106. Bean Curd with Spinach in Brown Sauce

Outstanding Asian food with so many vegetarian options... we loved them! Often times with Chinese food, we come across greasy dishes that don't provide unique flavors due to a significant amount of salt. But for this particular establishment, every dish appears well crafted and comes across as truly unique. The grease and oil remains minimal, and the texture for some tough vegetarian dishes was solid. If you like tofu- get ready for some variety. General Tso's tofu, string beans sautéed with fried tofu, you name it... they have it... Their pricing is also quite competitive with other neighborhood Asian restaurants. Delivery speed is great and their portions are plentiful. This is the #1 Chinese establishment that I've come across so far.

The food is always good, as well as the service when you eat in. The lunch special offers a wide range of options.

Was walking in the area with my mom and passed by on the way to a bakery, but good thing we turned back. One of the staff members opened the door for us. It's wheelchair accessible. Attentive and helpful staff. Great first impression of the place - garden decor, chandeliers/ambient lighting. Got the Creme Anglaise souffle pancakes - with fresh fruits, very light and fluffy, not too sweet. Ice cream sounded simple on the menu - though just a small scoop, it came with red bean paste, fresh fruits so not bad @$6. Rose latte is rosy of course with crushed petals. Liked the food presentation, cute spoons. Will surely return. Restroom available.

Dashi Okume dates back to…read more1871 in Japan (it was originally established as a seafood wholesaler), but this shop in Greenpoint makes quality Japanese products, especially dashi, more accessible than ever. Dashi Okume sells ... you guessed it ... dashi. They sell several kinds, and you can taste all of them there in the shop before deciding which to take home with you (I tried them all and went home with one bag of vegetable dashi and one bag of sweet shellfish dashi). They also make custom-made dashi. You can choose from around 30 ingredients - dried fish, seaweed, mushrooms, and vegetables. They grind it up and put into individual bags for you. Such a fun idea, but I thought I should try some of their pre-made dashi options before creating mine own. They also sell miso, rice, noodles, rice seasoning, seaweed, tea, and other items. I picked up some Japanese mustard, seaweed, and rice seasoning to take home with my dashi. Beyond being a great shop, they also have a cafe area where they offer a teishoku set meal - you pick your fish, which comes with tea, rice, miso soup, pickles, and sides. They also offer an omakase popup. The shop is beautiful, and the service was very friendly and helpful. I'll certainly return for more shopping but next time I plan to make a meal of it and try their teishoku set.

Stopped in at Dashi Okume on a random Saturday afternoon and sat down with a spread of white rice,…read morebluefish, miso soup, squash, and mushroom. Simple and satisfying on the food front, for the 2 of us, the cost was about $110. So not a cheap meal, but good food. The vibe though was a little different from what I was expecting. I went in thinking restaurant and what I got was more of a market atmosphere. While you are eating, people are walking around shopping and browsing, and there are products displayed and sold throughout the space. Not exactly my ideal setting for a sit down meal, but it works well enough for a casual weekend afternoon stop. One of the highlights beyond the food were the soup broths and dried flake samples they had available to try at Dashi Okume. We worked our way through most of them and they were genuinely delicious. My wife liked them enough to buy one to use as a miso soup base at home, which says a lot. They also carry items for cats, which was a fun little surprise. As for the place itself, Dashi Okume is located on Norman Avenue and operates as a collective, meaning it is not one single business but rather a shared space where multiple different vendors and businesses come together under one roof. That explains the market within a restaurant feeling. Overall Dashi Okume is a worthwhile stop, especially if you enjoy exploring and sampling along the way. Just go in knowing it is more of a hybrid experience than a traditional sit down meal.
