Extremely disappointing sandwich. The name of the business is literally "Giant Sub" yet they don't have a single "Giant" sandwich on the menu. In my opinion the size and quantity is smaller or equal to a 6 inch from subway or more closely to a hotdog bun. When your business is named Giant Sub you should be able to deliver said sandwich. Corporate chains like Capriottis, Jersey Mikes, even Jimmy John's and subway all have sandwiches which tower over the tiny size of the sandwiches here. The quality and flavor were just so so. If you want a Giant Sub go literally anywhere else including the gas stations here. Giant Sub? More like Giant Hotdog Roll with a filling for an astronomical price. Ordered a cheeseburger sub. I watched as the thin hamburg patty was placed on the grill. The cheese was split into thin strips. I could have gone to Wendy's and gotten 2 Junior cheeseburger deluxe meals and gotten more for much less money. The staff was friendly enough but watching them go from food to cash to food to whatever else they do behind the counter without any hand washing or food service gloves is enough for me not to come back. Don't let the humble exterior deceive you. This place knows how to make a great sandwich. Let me start out by giving the bread a shout out. It was the best kind of bread to take a giant bite out of...soft and fresh. I ordered the cold cut sandwich with added turkey. I came with a friend to visit Acadia National Park. Excited and hungry, we stopped on this place on the road to get ourselves a "GIANT" sub to eat at the park... What we got was anything but GIANT! The sandwich was small, the bread was dull, the ingredients were nothing to write home about and overall, the entire thing didn't look appetizing at all. I've been a fan of Giant Sub since the 70's when our family would traditionally stop there on our way back to Massachusetts after our summer vacation to MDI was over. Fast forward to today when my wife and I stopped there to grab a quick lunch for the kids. I never expected it to be the same as "the good ol' days" but it was, and do you know why? Because the same guy still owns the place and we even got to meet him! Says he's been running things since 1968! My beloved meatball sub was exactly as I remembered it (excellent) and the kids had high praise for the cold cut (Italian) sub. It was like a time warp! I work in southern New Hampshire, which is known for seemingly millions of mediocre roast beef and sub shops, all the same menus, all the exact same mediocre food. Up until eating at Giant Subs, which should change its name to Tiny Subs because they use hot dog size rolls, I thought the New Hampshire shops couldn't be beaten for flavorless food. Well congratulations! Your mediocrity has reached epic heights! How do you make an onion steak sub completely flavorless? How did you manage to find onions that taste like tapwater? This place was horrible. Disgusting food and horrible service. We walked into the restaurant and saw all 3 female staff sitting down in their phones. They did not greet us but rather rolled their eyes when one of them had to get up and wait on us. The prices were way to high for the quality of food. My steak and cheese sub was less than bland and had no taste. $35 for a family of 3 and it was terrible. My husband and I traveled all the way from Florida and stopped here for a quick bite. Should have listened to the previous reviews and should not have went. Stay for away from this place. The staff were miserable and did the bare minimum. I honestly feel bad for the owner of this place for having such lazy and rude staff that aren't willing to prepare better food and greet customers. An older gentleman and his wife came in while we were eating and he was a little indecisive. The staff member went back and sat down and told him to "let her know when he was ready." Unfortunately I had a terrible experience here. I ordered over the phone for pick up and when got the food it was cold and not what I had ordered. I ordered 2 children's orders of grilled cheese and got 1 grilled cheese and a hot dog instead....I ordered a steak and cheese sub with extra cheese, toasted bun and salt and pepper and it came with absolutely no cheese or any seasonings what do ever and the bun was not toasted and the sandwich was cold. I ate here three times while I was in the area. This place has a very pleasant old-time atmosphere (both the exterior and interior). The food is quite good and reasonably priced. The staff is very friendly. It's a comfortable place to sit down and eat. It was obviously my first time there, since I asked about the sandwiches and what was on them but I didn't know I had to tell them to put mayo and mustard since he didn't ask me. I said no onions when he asked if I wanted all the veggies, and I ended up with 2 pickles, a couple little bell pepper slices and like 30 pieces of tomatoes. No lettuce either.
