Extremely disappointing sandwich. The name of the business is literally "Giant Sub" yet they don't have a single "Giant" sandwich on the menu. In my opinion the size and quantity is smaller or equal to a 6 inch from subway or more closely to a hotdog bun. When your business is named Giant Sub you should be able to deliver said sandwich. Corporate chains like Capriottis, Jersey Mikes, even Jimmy John's and subway all have sandwiches which tower over the tiny size of the sandwiches here. The quality and flavor were just so so. If you want a Giant Sub go literally anywhere else including the gas stations here. The only thing I'll remember about this place is the false advertisement within the name of the business, everything else was absolutely forgettable.

Don't let the humble exterior deceive you. This place knows how to make a great sandwich. Let me start out by giving the bread a shout out. It was the best kind of bread to take a giant bite out of...soft and fresh. I ordered the cold cut sandwich with added turkey. I topped it off with lettuce, tomato, salt, pepper, and a side of banana peppers. It was one of the best sandwiches I've had in a long while. Delicious!

They do not use gloves. They are rude and way over priced. Food is bland and no flavor. Needs a whole overhaul.

Called "giant sub", but sandwiches aren't giant at all. At $8 for a large veggie sub, this place is a total rip off.

Paid over $7 for a small ham & cheese hoagie that literally had 1 piece of ham & 1 piece of cheese. Customer Service is less then mediocre.

The staff is quite friendly and customer focused and the menu is straightforward, but the real joy is in the cooking. It's REALLY good. If you read my other reviews you'll see that I'm not shy about highlighting poor food and bad service. This place was neither of those. It was a little surprised that a place with "roast beef" in its name would be out of roast beef on a Sunday afternoon until the explained that the are closed on Mondays and cook their own roasts (2 a day) and serve until sold out on Sundays so the sandwich meat is fresh when the reopen on Tuesday. Amazing. I had a Baja smash burger and my wife had an Olin smash burger both with caramelized onions. Both were excellent. Fresh - not frozen patties - and it showed. Fries were really good too. I'll be back later in the week to try their roast beef sandwich and see if it lives up to the "legend" name.

Joe's review on that one is actually for this one at 51 HIgh Street. THIS one is the brand-spanking new one. AWESOME grab and go selection: sandwiches, salads, pizza, hot case items, pastries, desserts. A guy in there was wandering around aimlessly yesterday... he mumbled to himself, "There's almost too many choices." Beer cave, fountain soda bar (which my husband laments there are none of in Ellsworth), coffee/tea/hot drink bar, also typical convenience store goodies. Besides my obsession for the variety and stupid cheap prices, I can't really get over how NICE the people are that work here. Maybe they are super-stoked about how AWESOME this new place is, too. GREAT PIZZA! Look for the 2 for $10 pizza coupons in all the local mailers. It's a steal.

The historic building has a tin roof and a wooden bar that eeks history. Our waitress was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. Another had the Warm Roasted Root Vegetable Salad that she said was wonderful. We finished the meal with generous portions of carrot cake topped with delicious cream cheese frosting. There is a store inside the Black Moon (that happened to be closed on a Saturday night). In the corner they sell vinyl records and CDs and there is also a selection of guitars. There was also a musician playing live music near the front of the pub that really added to the atmosphere. It was a truly great find right on Main Street in Ellsworth.

They have small parking space on the side of the brick building. Inside is a small space but has some seats, tables and counter to place your order. They do have outside seatings as well. The person running the front which i assume was the owner was very nice and attentive. We got the brick buoy, the bricklayer's catch, lobster bisque and the holy donut. The brick buoy was a toast with lobster salad on it. It was small portion but was tasty. The bricklayer's catch was like grilled cheese with some lobster meat. It was good but i feel like it could have been elevated if there were with mixed cheese like smoked Gouda and mozzarella or some more addition like onions, peppers and mushrooms and such. The lobster bisque was creamy, flavorful with hint of bitterness. You also get a toast to dip with which pairs well with soup. Would have liked some veggies or lobster meat in it but for the price it was still good. Service was excellent. The workers were very nice and attentive. I can tell that they really care about the place and even have a sign on the table to let them know about any complaints to make it right for the customers. Overall the place was good and it's nice to see local restaurant that cares about what they do and how they treat their customers. Only thing is that they still have some room to improve regarding to their food offerings. However i know that it's a newer place and who knows, their other menu may have been better. Either way I hope that they continue to provide excellent service and strive for polishing their menu.
