First I want to thank them for coming out on the weekend when I couldn't get in touch with my extended warranty company for water heater leak! They did a good job on removing and replacing the water heater. Wish I wasn't in such a panic to get it repaired and couldn't think to call a couple friends to get advice. Long story short I found out I got charged 4 times the amount to purchase and replace my water heater without an extended warranty. After talking to a couple of neighbors and my freinds who had the same problem and found out how much they paid to get theirs removed and replaced, I feel so embarrassed that I didnt keep my composure and and seek advise from my family and friends like I always do. Called Elmer for a leak. Dug it out, had it prepared for repair. MIchael arrived I showed him the leak told him I would back fill it with sand and the dirt all I needed was the repair. He then began checking my water pressure which was at 85, which I was already aware of... then I told him I just needed the leak fixed. He seemed indignation and did some calculations on his phone and told me it would be 550.00 for the simple repair. I payed the $59.00 service charge and sent them on their way. Did the work myself. Doubt I will ever use or recommend Elmers again. They also showed up outside the 11-2 windows promised by dispatch. read more

They charged me $800 just to drain the ac furnace pan. It took them under 5 minutes to do this basic task. Use them if you want to pay $4,800 per hour for menial labor and then be forced into a contract for a basic task. They even attempted to push us into a very long term warranty contract with a monthly rate that over the term would've cost significantly more than buying and installing multiple new ac units. I couldn't do it myself as I was hundreds of miles away and the tenants didn't want to touch it. They knew I couldn't bring others in to drain the pan because the tenants wanted it done immediately. I work in sales and have seen lots of scummy sales tactics (have always avoided those companies) and these guys take things to another level with how they package things and lie. Once they showed up butt crack joebob showed up and said we could not snake the drain from the normal spot and needed to brake open some sheetrock and concrete to cut a line in the drain to auger the sucker. Well knowing a bit about plumbing myself, i ask about snaking the dring from the roof. Well joebob took a step back as he was not expecting that i knew what i was talking about. So after he gathered his thoughts he responded that it would cost about $400-$600 to do that. Now i myself took a step back because that was an insane amount of money for that. Then after i gathered my thoughts i asked joebob how much replacing a water heater would cost and he responded around $1,400. I politely said thank you and would not be using his services. The cost for almost getting robbed was $65 for the visit. It was the best $65 i ever spent. It prompted me to youtubes the work and save thousands from hiring this company. Bad Experience with Elmer's Billing and other Practices. Customers Beware I woke on Tuesday 12/02 and went outside to find i had a water leak near my house. I went and shut the water off at the main and waited until some companies opened. I made two phone calls and both companies I selected couldn't give me a quote until they found the leak. I went with Elmers because they Installed my HVAC system back in 2023. I'm a bit OG and have done maintenance my whole life, including for SAHA and Bexar County. Now I'm a bit worn and now aged enough for social security. For the record, my bodies tired but I haven't lost my sanity. Continuing, Elmers tech and I were in 100% agreeance on the general vicinity of where the leak is coming from. Im told I needed to have my sidewalk removed to verify before a quote can be given for the repair. This is where it gets a bit shady with Elmers Home Services and EVERYBODY should be aware of the practices they use. I'm told they will send out their subcontractor to get the concrete removed. Were talking about 2 squares totaling 36 Sq feet. They work with them exclusively and will ensure they will be out right away. Price: $525.00 (and we don't make any money off of this). If you do the math that's more than 2X the going rate if your paying high dollar to get two squares removed. I'm like well I need this done and done today so lets go with it. Flag #1 was when I'm told you pay me (Elmers) first for our contractors services. I didn't know why they manage their subcontractors money but ok, i'll roll with this. They showed during the last 10 minutes of the time window and arrived right around 1pm. Props to them they worked hard and by 3pm they were wrapping it all up. I specifically asked about the pile of concrete they set against my neighbors house. They said they would get it when they finish the job and pour the concrete. I told them their company needs to throw a bid in on the pouring because i know i didn't pay enough for new concrete too. They said they'd be back. Flag #2: I asked for information for their company but wasn't provided anything so I can reach out to the business owner. Around 4:30 Elmers shows up again. Turns on the water and we see right where the waters coming up. The tech digs out a 16' wide times maybe a foot deep by 2 foot long hole and we see that the issue is a failed connection exactly where the PVC mates with the House Copper on the PVC side. To cut to the chase, im offered 4 or 5 options, the cheapest being a "Band-aid" fix for over $1000 with other options up to over $7000, and of course a EZ finance payment plan with a high interest for everything. . So yeah, realize with their own words, your not getting a repair anymore, right there in their electronic tablet, it lets you pick their $1000 band aid fix. That was my Flag #3, So I'm like, Bro that's way too much money to fix this issue. That's not even $15 worth of parts. Initially i said im not paying that much, and you all have to do better with the numbers and would have normally walked away, but I get told "I already started the job with the "excavation". (I'm like Ohh SNAP! they started the job without telling me they started the job or giving me a quote). Right here is where I have to call out the practices that Elmers does. They know its late afternoon, They know my family is getting home from school and work my sons taking a leak in the back yard and My wife's telling me get it done. We cant just bail to a hotel and leave our pets home. I Bit the bullet and signed. and then top it all off with telling me the jobs started before I got the quote. really Really Really bad business practices. I did ask and get a discount out of him and I think the tech felt some sort of compassion and got me a cover and ball valve (tho the wrong kind of cover that i will install). I asked again and never got the name of their subcontractor. soooo... Next days (Wednesday) comes and still no invoices in my email. They've had my info for years now because I have warranties with them. I get hold of and talk with Elmers at 10 am and ask about the invoices, the subcontractors info and the cleanup of debris. Elmers cannot provide me with the invoice for the $525.00 that they took (guess what it shows in my bank info I paid Elmers twice). I was told someone would get right back to me. Its Thursday 04 Dec now, Its been 24 hours and still not another invoice and not a call. I'm gonna move forward with this of course but everyone needs to be aware of Elmers. I just hope my complaining doesn't affect the quality of the active warranty and inspection work i have associated with Elmers already. Bottom line, beware of Elmers and take your money elsewhere. A total scam from start to finish. Their website says 24/7 but they are closed on weekends. I called on Saturday and an answering service company picks up the call but says we can't make an appointment until Monday. On Monday a technician comes out and makes it sound like repairs can be completed on Monday so I pay 50% up front. After paying, we are told repairs would start the next day. So I was mislead just so they could get their money. Then Elmer's kept pushing back our appointment time. By the end of the day two, the AC was still not fixed. The technician said it was a two person job so he would not be able to complete it that day. The next day, we find out this was NOT true. The new technician said he could do it alone, a one man job. To clarify, they lied to us. By now we are on our third Elmer's technician and he says he doesn't have the part he needs since the problem was misdiagnosed by the first and second Elmer's technician. Now they are saying we need a new control board. However, we told them on Monday that we thought we would need a new control board. So despite us pointing out the problem for them on day one, it took them three business days to figure it out. Elmer's made me put a credit card on file before any work would be done and by the third day they were making UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES to my credit card. Charges were not approved, not signed for. No work was done to explain these charges. AC still is not working as of right now. They have no idea when they will get the part we need and they have no estimate of when it will be installed. read more

Even most recently ive spent over an hour on the phone trying to confirm a warranty appointment time slot because we have to take off work to be there, and they kepe getting the wrong time slot that I have told them we will not be available. This is the most unethical and unscrupulous business I have ever dealt with. I entered into a service contract for annual maintenance and service for plumbing, electrical and AC. The first visit was for the plumbing service (they only check your water heater). Right of the bat I was told that I needed a new water heater and was quoted from over one thousand to over four thousand for a new water heater; first red flag. My water heater is barely 8 years old, and it is working fine. Two weeks ago, I had my AC serviced. The technician recommended a treatment for the pan to avoid clogging which cost $121.00 (membership price). After he was done, I asked him what the treatment and he showed me a bottle of tablet. I searched for the product online and found a bottle of 200 tablets for $30 on Amazon. Stay away from Elmer's, they are not about good service but about making money by ripping people off. I canceled my service contract and going with a more reputable and honest company. BTW, my AC went out after being serviced two weeks ago, makes me wonder. read more

The first time they came out I signed up for their Comfort Plus service which includes two annual maintenance appointments, dispatched fee waived, and 10% off all repairs. That was probably the BEST thing you could sign up for! The second time I called to schedule an appointment, their dispatch was calling before I got off the phone with the intake person! Ebber and Robert came out, they were great! Very knowledgeable, gave my system a full check, fixed the problem and since I was a Comfort Plus member there was NO CHARGE!!! I had them out again today to look at my duct work. Rick came out to look at my system and he was super helpful in my selection of the best option for me and my family. The work was done on the same day and it was such an easy process! I would recommend Elmer to all my friends. I contacted this company to inspect my AC after it stopped working, mainly because of their radio commercials that emphasized honesty and treating customers like family. Michael, the technician who first came out, seemed sincere, and my AC--though 20 years old--was still running strong. Michael inspected the unit and diagnosed a faulty blower motor. At the time, I was dealing with personal and work-related emergencies and unfortunately wasn't able to do the proper research. I was charged $5,055.19 for the blower motor replacement--an outrageous price considering that $1,500 is already considered the high end for such a repair. After reviewing the situation, I was incredibly disappointed. I feel taken advantage of during a vulnerable moment. Terrible customer service/warranty My old A/C unit stopped working and needed to be repaired. I called Elmer's to fix it and they gave me a long list of things that needed to be fixed. They suggested I buy one of their new units that come with 10 year warranty to have peace of mind. I was hesitant at first because of how expensive a new unit is. But decided to get it. They installed the unit the same day. After 9 days the unit stopped running. Elmers came out and "fixed" the problem. The very next day it stopped running again. That's twice in 10 days. They came out and "fixed" it again. They emailed me a copy of the work order showing that it was overcharged with almost twice as much refrigerant. Now I've tried contacting their office, the sales rep, and project manager. and nobody will hold up their end of the warranty. I had a one-year HVAC membership contract with Elmer's Home Services for preventive maintenance (PM), and they never showed up once to check on my system--until yesterday, at the very end of the contract. Instead of addressing the lack of service, they used the visit to pitch me on renewing my membership. When I confronted my account representative about this, she dismissed my concerns and suggested waiting until the end of January 25 for a resolution (today is December 24). She made excuses about their communication practices, claiming they only send invoices by email and do not use email for correspondence or appointment scheduling. However, I have call logs showing they never attempted to contact me, and they didn't even leave a voicemail if I wasn't reachable. The lack of accountability and failure to fulfill the agreed-upon services are unacceptable. I cannot recommend Elmer's Home Services and will never use them again. System recharge by Elmers was going to cost 3x what my previous A/C company charged. So I said no way, and found a local company that did the same work for 1/7 of what Elmers was going to charge. Just be aware. Also... Elmers was at my home for nearly four hours. The company that got my system cooling? They were here for 30 minutes. *note added 6/3/2024*: Also note that yes, Elmers did an extensive system evaluation (which cost me the service visit fee) complete with pictures and said they'd send the whole "report" to me so I could look at my options with my wife, and figure out what we wanted to do (they never sent me ANYTHING). The gold option (or whatever they called it) was to spend like $32,000 on a full system upgrade. Of course, the only numbers I was shown were the monthly payments, and I had to have them switch the view to the "total" costs. I felt like I was at a car dealership in my own home, especially when the tech at my house called "one of the head guys" and had the three of us all on speaker. My home AC stopped working overnight and I called this company to come out and repair my issue. They are the "new guy in town" and I thought I'd give them a shot based on the radio advertising. I have a 13-year-old AC system. After the "technician" did everything he did, including lots of pictures, he went out to his van and sat there for exactly one hour. What he was doing for an hour, who knows. When he finally returned to my house, he showed me many pictures and started laying out several plans with monthly payments. I told him I was not interested in his payment plans and I wanted to know what it would take to get me up and running NOW. He said he would need a senior technician for that because my compressor was out. Payments... Turn to Senior Technician... It felt a lot like buying a car (you have to talk to the sales manager). I got the "senior technician" scheduled to come to the house later in the day. I did not feel good about my interactions with the initial salesman/technician. I called another company, and they evaluated my system, and it WAS NOT the compressor. It was a capacitor. MUCH DIFFERENT ISSUE. We purchased a new AC unit 5 years ago and every year the system breaks down at beginning of the summer. The first 2 years there was prompt response and that went away. Every year it's the same issue; excess condensation. We should not be having these issues on a new unit. The issue is not resolve for long term. The last 2 times I have requested a call from the supervisor without a response. I'm still wait for a call right now. Had a service contract with this company and they come out to service my unit. They said I need my plenum replaced and i agreed. After they replaced the plenum I noticed that my compressor was not coming on. It took me three hours of troubleshooting to find out the tech put a piece of cardboard under the condensate overflow sensor and this caused the compressor to not turn on. Elmer's boss came to our house and promised to reimburse us for the incredible damage they did. In 2019, Elmer's put the flange below the tile when installing new toilets with new flange. It finally leaked through the ceiling of a hall bathroom. The boss is going back and forth with my subrogation company, not paying anything. I felt good when the boss made that promise. Now, because they won't pay like the boss said they would, I received a letter that I will lose my insurance if I file another claim in the future. What good is insurance when you get a letter like that because Elmer won't own up to what they did to us. They put toilets in wrong but said there was only damage from one. I had Elmers waste almost 3 hours of my Friday night to come and give me a quote. The guy completed a long assessment of our attic and put everything into a tablet. A few days later I asked for the estimate in writing.....3 months later still never received it. I am glad we chose to use someone else because that is just a very bad impression of how service was likely going to go. They wouldn't even quote a number before leaving my house. I hired this company and they sold me a 20,000 dollar ac unit the unit works fine but the installation was far from professional and the aftermath was not nice,to be frank I would not recommend this business for any reason. They refuse to fix what they destroyed under my house and now that the installation is done they do not want to fix what they messed up. I don't understand why. I ended up with a rodent problem, they sent out the Terminator from their office and the gentleman even said that it was a installation issue but the office said that I would have to sign a release form be for they fix the problem.
