SUPERIOR Corn in a Cup. I previously thought I was pretty good at spotting differences between subpar and exceptional corn, and this place has blown away my taste buds. Thanks to a Yelp event I was able to discover this hidden gem. I've been here TWICE since then to try a few different types and ALLLLLL of them have been BEYOND. We have tried the Beni, Jefa, traditional, hot Cheetos and my personal favorite the Ruffles. CREAMY, HOT CORN w/ savory ingredients. At this rate, you'd never get bored. They've been here 5 years and will definitely be on my weekly radar! Though a small cup could absolutely fill you up (priced around 5-5.50), I do recommend medium and large if 2+ are snacking. The cajeta's are pretty standard and so is the ice cream, but a good add on if you find the corn is too spicy. They do have certain cold treats that I'm hoping to try during my next few visits. The interior is CLEAN, pretty spacious for small parties and they have affordable catering options too! You can't go wrong having an elote party! (Just invite me too!) I've seen the owner in there every time I've been and he's SUPER kind and offers helpful recommendations based on what you want out of your treat. My boyfriend and I came by yesterday and immediately saw how busy it was! We were surprised and it was a good sign for us! We ordered the Elote Tradicional and the San Antonio Elote. Both were really really good! The portions are great for the prices. I ordered an Agua de Limon as well, the menu inside the store gave small medium and large sizes but the lady helping me said they only had medium and large so it was kind of weird that the menu does not reflect what they have. Overall great place, loved the aesthetic of the place and would recommend highly! They have elite flights and agua fresca flights at a reasonable price and I think that's very unique and cool too! Its been years since I've had corn in a cup and I didn't quite get my appetite sated when comparing the snack here at Elotitos to that of my childhood at, but I do appreciate what they do here. I was also was impressed to find out that they got a mention in Texas Monthly. There were so many elote options that it was difficult to choose so I panicked and got the best selling Paloma. If I come back I would like to try the Beni since it includes butter. I got a half and half mix of yellow and white corn and now know I prefer just yellow since the white is just hominy (larger kernels, chewier, not as sweet to contrast with the savory toppings). The Del Jardin agua fresca made of pineapple and watermelon was delicious and refreshing but I didn't detect the mint. They had a steady stream of business of people from all walks of life. I have been wanting to come and try this place for awhile now. Today, I finally got the opportunity. Upon walking in the space seems small with no real decor highlighting their business. It has a cafeteria feel to it. We were greeted by staff and they were super friendly. The young lady was patient with us while we looked over their menu. I went with the hot Cheetos elote (L) and my husband ordered the traditional (L). I wanted to order the flight but they said it would be about an 18 minute wait. We didn't want to wait that long. The space itself seems okay. I don't like the location for the simple fact of parking. Parking is tough to find. Unless you park in the neighborhood street. It's at an intersection of Fredricksburg road and Furr Dr. There is a lot the the side of the building but even that was full. While we waited the seats didn't give me much confidence that they would hold up to hold anyone passed 30 pounds. They did but I was concerned. Lol I felt they were flimsy. While we waited we saw customers coming in and going with delicious treats. The product: So presentation was on point. Everything looked good and was very eye catching. I was excited to dig into my elote. I was a little disappointed that the corn itself was warm at best. I feel like when you eat corn it should be hot. The favor combination was amazing. The female at the register was very welcoming and friendly, she asked if we were "first timer, and we said that we were. So, she recommended a few options for us to try. I decided on getting the "hot cheeto" elote in a cup, and it was delicious. My husband got the "traditional" elote in a cup -- which he didn't care too much for. He made me try some, and I was quite disappointed because I love a good "traditional" elote, but this one was no where near to what I'm used too. So, this is why I gave this place only four stars. Elotitos 1933 Fredericksburg Suite 105 I absolutely love specialists. But here's the thing: if you are gonna do only one thing, you have to do it very well. Luckily for Elotitos, a "corn bar" that only serves elote (Mexican street corn), they do. Now, this is a specific snack restaurant, so do not go here expecting a big meal; you get corn. Only corn. But their corn is REALLY good. I got their small Old Fashioned ($4.50), their small Spicy Mule ($4.75), and a large Agua de la Casa ($5.25). The Old Fashioned was very typical elote: crema, queso fresco, and chili paste. Delicious. The chili past was extremely salty and rich, not overpoweringly spicy, with a wonderful roasty smokiness. This paste, which was on both styles I got, was the standout twist that made these the best elotes I have ever had. The Spicy Mule was topped with more of that chili paste, but, even though it had crema and queso fresco, it punched the spicy flavor up by adding nacho cheese, chili powder, lime, Takis, and Hot Cheeto dust. It was very crunchy, which was a wonderful contrast with the soft, buttery corn. I am not sure I liked it quite as much, but it was also very delicious. The Agua de la Casa was their signature house agua fresca, made with both pineapple and cucumber. It was wonderfully refreshing, though I tasted the cucumber significantly more than the pineapple. To sum up, if you have a real craving for some great corn, I can highly recommend this place. I would love to go back and try some of their other styles.
