Service is great but the food...the FOOD is delicious. The gravy on their beef enchiladas is stupid good. Almost certain it's their carne guisada gravy on top of enchiladas. Now my mouth is watering. For a nice little quick buck to spend and enjoy your meal, it's not to bad. Small dining room, so due to covid there isn't a lot of sit down dine in. My eggs were perfectly over easy, the beans and ham tasty but the potatoes could use a little more attention. The tortillas are defiantly not store bought. They have to be made there. My daughter defiantly loved her pancakes and scrambled eggs if you can't tell by her smile. Waiters are generous and attentive, met my every need. Try them out! We went for breakfast a few weeks ago. I was very happy with my tacos. I got carne guisada, bean and cheese, and bacon and egg. My daughter got the pancake with egg and bacon. The pancake was sweet cream, super delicious. She was so happy that they brought her a packet of Smuckers strawberry preserves. My wife had the Barbados plate. It was very tasty. I haven't been back there in a long time. I really like the remodeled look. The food was quite delicious and quite affordable. We will definitely be going back soon. read more

Went here for lunch.. it is definitely a hole in the wall. Right next door to a cleaners. Service was ok and the server was friendly. I had two tacos al pastor because they were out of barbacoa, which is what I originally wanted. I have to say, there was nothing that really impressed me. I have been to several taco shops and mexican restaurants period here in San Antonio. This one did not wow my socks off. Kind of disappointing really. Probably won't be back and I regret making the drive here. I'm only giving this restaurant 1 star because the service was neither good or bad, just regular. As for ingredients: cheap, taste: bland, price: overcharging for extremely basic food, environment: stunk BADLY of piss and humidity. No music either, just the sound of dishes being washed and there was heat from the kitchen going through to the dining area. I have a feeling that it's a little bit dirty and something might have slipped into my food by accident. So in that case, it's no better than going to a closer fast-food restaurant. Only difference is, you have to pay more here and leave a tip.. They recently went through a renovation it looks like. New staff, new food, new menu! Went in on a Saturday morning and it was a little busy but not bad. I got the aguacate gordita and the aguacate torta and since I'm a vegan, asked for no cheese and no sour cream. They were happy to oblige! The atmosphere is nice. It may not look like much from the exterior (next to a laundry and DQ) and the interior doesn't impress, but this Mom and Pop Mexican food place is definitely worth the visit. Although it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for it with great food, and great service. Locals go here over other Mexican joints in the area, so it must be good, right? Their menu have pretty much anything you would expect from a top notch Mexican restaurant. All items cooked to order, and served with home made tortillas. I recommend the Huevos Rancheros and Fajita plate, they never disappoint! Whenever I need to journey to the San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), I always stop by to enjoy their fare. I'm a geek, I like to look at graffiti on trains. With that being said, Kirby is a prime location to check out the different trains coming and going at the train yard. It's not the best area, it's on a rough side of town. My hubby and I decided to check out this restaurant since it had a perfect view of the train yard. I really think that this restaurant was a 3 1/2 but since half stars aren't an option, I'm rounding up. There was nothing impressive with the curb appeal or ambiance. It's a typical hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. The service was excellent, we were immediately greeted by a waitress. She checked in with us several times to make sure that we were satisfied with the food and to ensure that our drinks were topped off. I ordered the number 6 which came with 2 cheese enchiladas, a crispy taco, rice and beans. In my opinion, the rice and beans are crucial determining factors on how good the food is since they are the staple sides to a Mexican dish. I first tried the rice. Let me start off by saying that I was NOT impressed, it was very bland, not at lot of flavor going on. This was a bit of a red flag. I was not expecting much after that first bite. Next, I tried the refried beans. Okay, those were damn good! I'm pretty sure that they use lard in the recipe because they tasted similar to the ones that my abuelita used to make. I was interested to see what the rest of the plate had to offer. Time to try the crispy taco! It didn't look very appetizing at all but I was pleasantly surprised with the greasy deliciousness! Wow! I would totally come back just for the crispy tacos! Things were looking good so far. Now for the main course, the cheese enchiladas. Excellent flavor, that gooey cheddar cheese along with the beef gravy really made the dish! I liked that there were a few small chunks of beef from the sauce mixed in. It leads me to believe that their carne guisada must be very good because those chunks of beef were very tender and flavorful. My husband had the shrimp cocktail. It was pretty average on taste. They were not shy on the amount of shrimp so that was a plus. Overall, I would definitely come back again. The food and the view were pretty good. Like I said before, I would give this place a 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. It's nothing special, the food is slightly above average and the service is great. read more

I've driven past this place but never seemed too interested until I saw the Yelp rating. I stopped by and enjoyed everything from the time I walked in till I walked out. Food was delicious. Even the chips and salsa were amazing. I tried the special of the day which was enchiladas and beef fajitas. Juicy meat. Home made flour tortillas. Sweet tea was really something else. I had not been here in years. Since I was in the neighborhood, I stopped to have lunch. I ordered the daily special of 2 Enchiladas, with Rice, Beens and a side order of Beef Fajitas. I asked them to sprinkle some onions over the enchiladas. They had an excellent salsa to dip the corn tortilla chips. It was actually hot to the taste for a change. My order arrived with some Home Made Corn Tortillas which were warm and so tasty. The food order was out of this world good! I am not a rice man but everything else on the plate was Superb!! I was driving on Old Seguin Rd (FM 78) near Kirby and my eye caught this small Mexican Restaurant so I decided to check it out. I arrived just before the dinner rush so I grab a table to eat and watch TV. An attentive and professional server greeted me. That's always a good start. The Mexican food here is prepared "parilla"or grill style and I'm sure all Hispanics know that but it's still worth mentioning. So I ordered the Guadalajara Plate and the plate was everything that I was expecting. The flavors of the basics like beans and rice were authentic and tasty. The plate's entrée was grilled cuts of beef cooked to perfection. Add warm homemade tortillas and it's just like being home again. There are so many places in San Antonio to eat Mexican food.
