Excellent value on very good hamburgers. We really have not tried the greek menu items but really enjoy the burgers.

The Greek Chicken Salad is the best thing going in the 70th & El Cajon area. I lived there for many years and now live 15 minutes away. I still frequently go there to get it about twice a week. The owner is an awesome guy and always friendly. I would assume it is his Daughter and Son who work there as well and they are always extremely friendly. I'll be a life long customer of this business. I love supporting family owned businesses and especially love amazing food. Ordering the chicken plate is also a wise move. Comes with rice and salad. We found this place on order up and we really enjoy it. The food is pretty good and we have deff been repeat customers. We have not eaten at the location so I can't give any info on that but if you are looking for a good place to stay home and order from using order up I'd say give this place a chance. read more

Nice hole in the wall near college. Its next to a gas station and the parking lot is huge. I love their gyro Special. Comes with Gyro meat wrapped with pita. Comes with fries or chips and a soda. Great deal and good too. I love their baked greek chicken. I usually buy the combo which comes with the whole chicken, Pita bread and 2 side orders. This chicken is so juicy and flavorful. I loves the rice. I think they cook it with butter, so good. They have a vast menu too. They have burgers, burritos, fish and chips along with greek food. Food is served fast and the people working here are nice. Indoor eating is available. The décor is nothing fancy and could use a update. Highly recommend. read more

Keep in mind that essentially this is a greasy spoon and everything here is going to clog your arteries. I'm sure it is a family run place, and it is not fancy. Jose took our order and he has the worst customer service skills ever. I was just there and my daughter ordered the chicken sandwich meal on special. She ordered grilled not knowing it wasn't the daily special WHEN GIVEN THE OPTION. Within 2 minutes of ordering & paying we realized we never got a receipt so asked for one. Then we noticed he didn't charge us correctly for the meal and asked to upgrade. I was in front of other customers who heard and they even questioned him but he wouldn't do anything for us. He said they can't just throw away food but that wasn't what I asked. He shut down (mentally) and just told me to talk to his manager tomorrow. One of the best restaurants in my area. Everything tastes like homemade food. Really fresh and delicious. Their dishes are simple but so tasty. The Greek salad is like no other salad, you just eat and can't stop eating it, the Greek fries are a must have and full of a lot of feta on and oregano. Their tzatziki sauce is delicious and loaded with flavor if you're a garlic lover like me. And all the meat is cooked great and tastes fresh and delicious. I eat here 3-5 times or so a week, and am consistently pleased with the fare. The folks who run it are always friendly and the food is always fresh. This is one of my favorite places to grab a bite to eat! I discovered them back in 2009 when I moved near their location and I'm so glad I decided to try it out! It's a small family owned place and everyone is so incredibly friendly! They remember their repeat customers, which adds to their awesome customer service. I'd recommend a specific food item, but they're all good! The Greek food they have is amazing and I'm part Greek, so I know good Greek food! I stopped by today with my husband on his lunch break. I was a little hesitant bc of the appearance, it's not really a place with a nice view or anything. The food is really good. I had a chicken pita! It was so good. The pita was nice and warm. My husband had the daily special that came with a burger, fries and a drink. The price was exceptional for the quality of the food. Flavored were great. Customer service was even better. She was really sweet and nice. Recommend her favorites. Overall, a really great experience. I am happy that I walked in this place. read more

We recently moved to la mesa and a few months later when I was craving a gyro I found this little place on yelp and I'm sooooo glad I did. The place itself is very simple and if you didn't know it was there you would probably walk right by I live a few blocks away so I always call ahead and take my food to go. As for the food, let me just say, nothing has let us down yet. The gyros are delicious! The tzatziki sauce is awesome I always ask for extra (.25cents). The chicken plates are so good! The chicken is spiced right and the rice pilaf it comes with is yummy. My boyfriend has ordered the gyro burger more than once and he always seems to be happy with it. The garlic bread is pretty amazing we always order an extra side of that as well! The menu has all kinds of food, from gyros to carne asada burritos to fish tacos! I haven't had any of the mexican food but one day I'll try that side of the menu lol. The people that work there are always very nice so service has always been pleasant. I really wanted to write this review in hopes that more people try this place out, it's the best food we have around! and although there's always another person or two when we go, I want them to keep getting business! Had Elsa's for the first time and we'll be back. 1/4 chicken was moist and well seasoned. Gyros were tasty and the salad was fresh with perfect amount of feta and olives. The falafel was a little dry but had good flavor. Pita was fresh and tasty. Spanikopita was yummy too but we wish they had a cheese pie option too. Rice was incredibly tasty, almost a lemony flavor. We'll definitely be back for a weekly family meal. Filled three of us up for $15.00. Great deal. Yummy food. Oh, and the owner used to be the cook at the Greek Market on Park so he knows his greek food. Yummy for sure. Haven't tried the burgers though. That'll be next. read more

Ok so after being reassured that the health department came by to inspect after contacting them about the previous issue, they came back to report that they informed them that Brillo pads and sponges are not to be used (its actually a health code violation) and had them throw all theirs out. The agent told me they inspect the place and it was clean and sanitary, so we were reassured enough to retry Elsa's again. With some hesitancy, ordered the same thing as we always do and upon getting the food inspected it completely (will be doing this each time with Elsa's take out now), it was fine. My faith is now restored that the food is good again. However Elsa's staff have not made contact (nor addressed it when we ordered the last time ex post facto), so they now lose stars from my original review of the place for that and for not following health codes fully to begin with. As a restaurateur on ANY level you'd know the basics of what you are allowed to have to clean with and what not, so the mere fact they had Brillo pads onsite, tells us that what other code violations may be present. So far the food appears to be fine, but be weary folks. 3 stars. In several more visits I'll reexamine how we feel about the place again and see if its 4 star worthy again. read more

Elsa's Kitchen is a small very casual sit down or take-out restaurant. It's not fancy, but it's good Greek/American food reasonably priced and served with a smile. Very decent menu selection and cooked while you wait. Unless you call in your order. A "go to" place for a quick meal - breakfast, lunch or dinner. read more

I call this restaurant a hole in the wall with another hole in the wall inside. The other hole is a window into the kitchen where you place your order. A friendly face appeared in the window. This is a "nothing fancy" restaurant. It is located in a small strip mall on El Cajon Blvd., off of 70th Street. Ample parking. Food is served in Styrofoam containers with a plastic fork. (I asked for a metal fork. It was provided.) The dining room has 7 tables. The walls are white with wood paneling on the lower portion, the ceiling is white acoustic tiles, and floor is tiled with black and white tiles. Somewhat stark. See the photos. The menu is posted on the wall. The key to success is that the food is good. The restaurant has been here for years. I ordered chicken on a kabob spit. That consisted of two spits with bite sized chicken pieces. It was served over a bed of rice with a Greek salad. It came with two small containers of sauce. I assume these were dipping sauces. I didn't ask. The food was tasty and well prepared. The salad was cold and crispy. The rice good. I enjoyed the meal. They have several meal combos in the $6-8 range.
