So for New Years my family and i took a vacation to visit an uncle and we were invited to eat here...let me tell you the phrase " you get what you pay for" suits it perfect. The food is delicious, the service is good. The environment is pretty cool. But just make sure to dress up a little because everyone in this restaurant is dressed to impress. The location is awesome because its by the ski resort so you can grab some lunch before going on the lift. Definatly recommend this place. BE AWARE THEY ONLY SERVE WINE AND WATER at the TABLES. We came here for dinner to celebrate the hubby's 3-0 and loved it. We've been to the other Elway's in Denver and felt like this one was on par with the rest of them. We arrived on time and were promptly welcomed, checked-in and seated almost right away. Our waiters came by to introduce themselves pretty soon after we were seated and gave us the rundown. When we finally got around to ordering & then enjoying our drinks, appetizers, and dinner - we were all smiles. Everything is just so tasty! I actually went for the burger this time, and before you hate on me for getting a burger at Elway's - you have to try it! I know there are so many other delicious things on their menu, but steakhouses can make mean burgers and Elway's was no exception! I'd definitely get that again. Like the QB, this restaurant is overrated. The food was ok at best. For the price I expected better. It is priced like a expensive steak house but the food was not as good. My steak was on a regular plate and got cold pretty fast. It was cooked correctly, and had good flavor but I can not say it is equivalent to Ruth's Chris or another high end steak restaurant. We also ordered a kale salad which was also just ok. It was big enough to share but not a huge salad like I thought it would be. We did not get dessert. The drinks were just ok too. Gross nobody wears a hair net the girls and the guys. John Elways is not a chef why is this place around? Good quality horrible service. Disgusting! There is an open kitchen in the dinning room, you can watch it all, cooks on the phone while touching the steaks nasty. Ask who your executive chef is he is as gross looks like A white Marley. I'm generally skeptical of steakhouses (and very opinionated). All have good steak, but truly few excel at providing apps, side dishes, and salad options at a good value. Here is where Elway's impresses me. I've enjoyed their summertime 7 for $7 happy hour appetizer specials with great drinks like the Moscow Mule, served in a very Colorado copper cup. After visiting there for full meals, I can strongly recommend the salad options (note that not all steak spots do salads well), and the staff are just excellent. Well, you know it is Elway's so there are certain expectations that you have when you arrive. The wait staff was excellent, Eric & Rick were caring, knowledgeable and helpful. Menu options were very good. Salad was amazing. Beet and mozzarella salad as well as the the grill artichoke were very good. The unfortunate part of the meal was the lamb that was highly recommended by waitstaff. I ordered it with a warm red center and was told that would be medium rare +. I said that is fine. I received it slightly pink mostly gray throughout. The 2nd served noticed my displeasure and offered to replace it. Being it was our anniversary dinner, I didn't want to eat my main course separately from my spouse. After being coaxed by my spouse and the waiter to replace it, I complied. After 10 minutes or so, I watched an irritated cook literally throw my lamb onto a plate and mouth something to a fellow coworker. I received the lamb rare (cold purple center) and burnt black on one side (I have photos). The mustard crust was not cooked whatsoever (the first one had the crust cook impeccably). Needless to say, major bummer. I ate 1/2 of the lamb. Lastly, no one (not the manager, nor the chef) came to the table to ask about the 2nd order of lamb. We were not looking for any discount nor did we receive one. They did provide an Anniversary dessert compliments of the house however that was in addition to the two desserts that we had already ordered. Wedge salad was sub-par. We had read a lot of reviews and didn't believe the negative ones since we were staying on the property and the folks there said it was delicious. Great Ski Town, not as many good food options however. This restaurant is a good draw because of the name. The location couldn't be better - inside the lodge at Vail, perfect. One star. The service is suspect - They seem like they listen, but then don't deliver. There weren't many tables full when we were there, and we had 2 servers, which kind of complicated matters as they didn't communicate well. They were polite and corrected as we went, but something was off. Food was ok, not even above ok. The dressings are more creamy and from a jar than home made. The steak was much tougher than any dry aged meat I have ever tried. Pretty sad considering the name and the location. The pricing was outrageous, even for Vail. It wasn't even comparable to a supermarket steak. This alone is reason enough not to go here. All in all, this was a huge disappointment. I would not return. read more

Artichoke appetizer -mmmm delicious with a butter and aioli dip House salad - very tasty Caesar salad - fresh but needs more dressing - the truffle beet was sold out :) Obviously popular so it must have been good. To say the meal was decadent is a complete understatement. The dinner had highlights like the Elway's Salmon; cooked to a perfect medium and topped with sauteed baby shrimp, sweet lump crab and a silky miso beurre blanc sauce. Then there was the 22oz Bone In Rib Eye. I can honestly say, my jaw dropped to the ground when I saw my brother-in-law order a $49 steak but it was honestly THE best steak I have ever had the pleasure of eating (even if it was only a few bites). The crispy char that blackened the entire perimeter of the steak was off-set by a melt-in-your-mouth medium grilled center that seriously set my taste buds into nirvana. I cannot imagine ever eating another steak that was butchered, prepared, seasoned, grilled and served so perfectly ever again. However, I am getting ahead of myself because the dish that has stayed in the front of my mind for months has been Lamb Chop Fondue. This dish alone is the sole reason I have visited Elway's on multiple occasions since my original visit. The Lamb Chop Fondue comes out with immaculate french-boned chops that have been prepared with a dry rub that I only wish I had the list of ingredients so I could replicate myself. The chops are grilled to medium-rare, allowing for the gaminess to shine. If they were not perfect on their own, a cast iron pot containing a velvety green chile cheese fondue accompanies the chops to swrill your meat through before you get a dreamy bite of heaven. There are also Chimayo tortillas and roasted sweet potatoes for an earthy and crunchy balance that I feel are a take-it or leave-it addition to the dish. And yes, I was the girl in the restaurant who, after I neatly cut off as much meat as I could, then picked up the bone and was gnawing on it to get every morsel of tasty goodness into my mouth... and I could not have been happier! read more

We had an AMAZING dinner at Elways in Vail. We started our meal with the spinach artichoke dip and calamari... both were superb. A party of five we all ordered prime rib. Perfect choice. Probably of the best prime ribs I've ever had. All of us agreed, definitely one of the best, if not the best! The food; amazing. The staff? Even better than the food. A gentleman, joel? My husband was so, so excited to go to this restaurant! Visiting our daughter from Las Vegas and wanted to treat her to the steak dinner she wanted, AND my husband is a big fan of John Elway's for all the good he shares... We arrived at the restaurant at 8:15 pm. Was seated by 5 minutes. Water was served immediately! About 5 more minutes our waiter came to ask for drink orders, Did not introduce himself. I asked him his name, told me Ross. About 10 minutes later came back with drinks. Still no conversation.he then took our food order. We ordered the "Spring Special" the app did not mention adjusted hours for spring...... Anyway, our soup and salad came fairly quickly, our food order took about 1 hour and 15 min. I had to stop our waiter from setting tables for next day to ask for another drink order! Food came, a "manager" asked how was everything , told her the wait, she told us I will fix with coffee and dessert, never saw her again. Food was good service terrible! read more
