My oldest daughter decided to color her own hair. But it came out horribly wrong. I called Thanh and asked for help. She took my daughter in even though she didnt really have time. Thanh is so nice and always friendly and took care of my daughter the best she can. My daughter have work at night and can't go into with the current hair condition. First time client and will definitely come back! I found Trend Salon SJ through Yelp. Was looking for some place new. Decided to be brave, and was glad I found Thanh. Thanh is highly skilled and quite talented. She listens well, showed me pictures for ideas, and did not proceed until we had a meeting of the minds of what my final hairstyle will look like. Thanh's assistant is also very kind and thorough. I felt very relaxed during the entire time she was washing my hair and blow drying. Throughout the haircut, Thanh explained what she was doing. She uses excellent hair products and explained to me the benefits of Kerastase hair products. My haircut at the end looked exactly how she explained it to me in the beginning. My hair type: medium to long length with light waves; thin, dehydrated, frizzy and not a lot to work with. I submitted an appointment request form on Thanh's website, thinking what I needed was a Brazilian blowout to revitalize my hair. Thanh shared her availability and I was able to get an appointment the following week. Day of the appointment, Thanh messaged that she could meet me earlier if I was available - which I was. Instead of 3pm, we moved my appointment to 11:30am. The salon is located in the new plaza construction right next to Century Mall. The salon is right next to Tea Lyfe. Because Thanh only takes appointments, I felt safe about COVID precautions. When I got there, Thanh was wrapping up a hair appointment with a client. I waited maybe 10-15 minutes because the other client was asking about hair products. I could tell off the bat that Thanh was not like your standard, Asian hair stylist. She first asked and confirmed what I was coming in for (a Brazilian blowout). I explained my concerns and what I was hoping to address with the blowout. Thanh gave her honest professional opinion, not trying to endorse or up-sell. She advised based on my hair type and concern. Instead of a Brazilian blowout, which would have left my hair extremely flat and limp, Thanh walked me through what a deep conditioning treatment was instead. She did not try to get me to do a higher priced service - the treatment was more affordable than a blowout. As she detoxed and washed my hair (at least 5-8 times!!!) because of all the product build up, Thanh explained what she was doing and gave tips on what hair routine I need to do to revitalize and bring health back to my hair. After several relaxing hair washes to get all the gunk out, Thanh used a revitalizing PH balancer. Then off I went to the chair for the deep conditioning hair treatment. Thanh explained the areas each mask was addressing for my hair concerns. Very thorough. She took it one step further by taking special care of the developing scalp psoriasis I had. She applied a topical cream (unfortunately discontinued and now only available in a serum form) that calmed my psoriasis. I waited 45 minutes for the treatment to do its thing. Thanh went back to her desk to answer work emails. I felt relaxed, working away on my laptop and occasionally chatting with Thanh. She washed the treatment off after. I decided to get a trim after the treatment was done because my ends were practically dead from all the heat I applied to my hair in the past several months. Thanh again gave her professional opinion but left the decision up to me on what I wanted. She suggested long layers because the previous short layers I had was thinning my hair out and not helping with volume. After the trim, Thanh applied the serum version of the relief cream that was discontinued on my problem psoriasis areas. Talk about above and beyond! A revitalizing and strengthening hair cream was also applied to my hair after. She then spritzed a layer of hair protectant from another bottle before she began to blow dry my hair. My hair felt a million times lighter, healthier and glossier. ABOVE AND BEYOND. I will surely come back to Thanh for her expertise and knowledge. The salon sells Kerastase solely and Thanh never urged me to purchase anything. I felt the results from the products itself and decided to get a shampoo, conditioner, cream and serum. I'll be back in 3-5 months for a trim and another deep conditioning treatment. Until then 5/5 stars. read more

Thanh was very understanding and flexible when scheduling my appointment and even when I was indecisive about what color to dye my hair, she gave me really good feedback to help me choose. I paid $350, which is fair, since the process was a lot of work ( 5hrs) and she used great quality products. She also did a little trim for free to help my hair to grow better, which was really nice. I always hit Thanh up super last minute for my haircuts and she's always found a way to squeeze me in with the best of her abilities. I have always been hesitant with getting my hair cut because all the stylists I've been to so far have chopped off way more length than they promised. I don't like writing negative reviews on Yelp but I feel it is warranted since I relied on Yelp to come here. This was a huge appointment for my daughter who gets her hair done once every two years ... and turning 21 next week she was very excited walking into the appointment. We showed Thanh what she wanted and she never said she couldn't do it or that it would take more than one appointment. And my daughter only wanted 4 inches cut off but ended up getting much more - when a client specifically asks for only 4 inches it needs to be just that - shaping or no shaping. When the color was done, we were disappointed it wasn't anything like the photo we showed and then at that time we were just told it couldn't be done in one appointment. $600 later.... Wrong color.... Too short ... and a very sad daughter who has been in tears for two days. And not only were we not offered any financial recourse, now we probably have to pay another $500 to get it corrected. A very expensive lesson - we felt deceived to get an expensive hair appointment when the capability wasn't there. read more

My hair had a reddish/ yellowish tone that was ruined by my previous hairstylists. I wanted ash brown balayage highlights and cut. Thanh explained to me that she was only able to lift it as much as it can go, and of course it still turned out amazing.
