The owner, Matt, was quick to respond when I gave the gym a call and provided amazing customer service! He even swung by the gym and introduced himself. Gym is fully equipped with several cardio machines (stairmaster, bikes, treadmills), free weights, benches, turf area, cable machines, resistance machines, two squat racks and much more. In addition, for an extra cost, you can have access to their Recovery Room which has infrared saunas, compression boots for lowerbody (I believe hips too), and massage guns. There are also small lockers that are available for use during your workout. The gym is very clean and all of the equipment is well-maintained. This is my first time at a privately owned gym and I can see why people lean towards em. If you're local, I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out and getting a membership. I will definitely be coming back here anytime I'm up here visiting! Thanks again, Matt!! Other notes if you've made it this far in the review: gym is easy to find, parking wasn't an issue on a Friday morning, music plays in the gym at an appropriate level in case you forget your headphones lol, they have a built-in water dispenser, sanitizer wipes are conveniently placed everywhere throughout the gym and are well-stocked, a lot of natural light coming through the windows, has a lot of other workout equipment that most gyms don't have. The workout is great and the so are the instructors. The only downfall is the music; it doesn't vary. We have taken 3 classes with the same instructor and the music played during workout is the EXACT same each time. It makes it a little mundane. The instructors are great, they know a lot about what they are teaching and they have a passion for it. The instructors also participate in the work out, which I admire. Once you've taken one spin or boxing class from Escape, your regular gym spin classes will be boring enough to put you to sleep. Escape uses blacklights because they believe fitness is about how you feel, not how you look. With loud music, high energy, great instructors, you'll finish your workout feeling stronger and more pumped up than ever. Memberships are a little out of my price range but drop in classes every few weeks are totally reasonable. I'll always be a fan of Escape and its unique workout experience.

"Strictly students" and gym is mostly occupied with people I know that do not go to UNR. The fact…read morethat the majority of equipment is being used by people that 1) Do not go to UNR OR 2) Pay to go there, is just crazy to me. I have called countless times in the past four years that I have been there about this concern and it's always the "I guess we can try" answer. The staff are all super nice and I do not have any complaints about that. But the fact that they're not being careful about that when there is not an open public event is crazy. Not to be a "pooper" (LOL) but I pay to go there and sometimes can't even use what I pay to use because someone who does not is isn't cool. If you have friends that you want to gym with, go pay at a different gym and go there.
