I thought I might miss the Carrington restaurant at the Landmark Resort but now I'm kind of glad they're gone since Ember has arrived. Amazing addition to the Landmark Resort with some great food, friendly staff, owners and still the killer views. We had our first meal this past weekend and loved every bite of it. The restaurant interior has been cleaned up and made much brighter and they took out a wall that gives it a bigger more open feel. We started with the Charred Brussel Sprouts, sorry we ate them before I could take a picture. They were full of flavor. The bleu cheese was a very welcome addition to the dish. I choose the Adobo Lime Shrimp for my entree and it was AMAZING. The chef and owner is trained in creole cuisine and man can you tell. I'm a big seafood fan and the addition of risotto made it that much better. The smoked tomato & avocado crema made the fresh shrimp pop. My wife choose the Seared Scallops, again on risotto but with a totally different flavor. Super fresh and amazing flavor. We finished the meal with the Molten Chocolate Lava cake and it was served warm with a custard sauce. Wow, and gone in minutes. Our server was super attentive and very friendly. We (my husband and I and a friend) tried Ember after being loyal patrons (my husband and I) of Fireside for years (we went there for the first time when they were in Ellison Bay). What it shares with Fireside is attentive service (we may have had the same server last year at Fireside!), but the menus and the settings are decidedly different. The Fireside is more about some Southern favorites (their shrimp and grits are bona fide), and Ember's focus according to something either that I read or what our server said is "global." And there are a few dishes that suggest that--Peruvian chicken, Adobe Shrimp, Tandoori chicken, and a gnocchi dish. But there are many other dishes that are more standard "American" (whatever that means"). I might suggest that they may call this "New American." One of the best parts is the view--one has a sweeping view of Egg Harbor. It was a beautiful night. We decided to eat inside mostly because it was chilly outside, though the air was blasting inside, so it was chilly inside as well. The actual inside decor needs a bit of an update. We have not been to the Carrington, the previous restaurant, but I bet it may be close to what their decor was. But Ember is new--they might still need to figure out who they are. Both my husband and our friend ordered the halibut--and it was delicious (I tried his, of course). He especially liked the butter-poached green beans that came with. The Halibut was very flavorful and there was some sort of sauce on the side that was also very flavorful with maybe a tiny bit of spice, but nothing overwhelming. I am certain I am picky, but none of the mains spoke to me, except for maybe the halibut. Each of the dishes either had ingredients that just didn't go with (sautéed broccolini with the Tandoori chicken) or missing something that was key (no french fries with the Peruvian chicken--it's a thing). So, many folks come from places with great Indian and Peruvian--seeing this on the menu struck with we as odd as they're trying to put their own spin on these dishes, but what ain't broke, you know? Also, As I don't eat red meat or pork and cream is not great for me, I chose the coconut crab cakes as my main dish. They were really delicious. They come with a "cajun remoulade." The crab cakes were better for that--and I just needed more (which they brought me). The citrus salad came out at the same time (I would've like it first). It was so so meh, almost to the point of being ick. I should've sent it back--it was just greens and a few pieces of oranges, a few walnuts, and some feta. It really was mostly greens and they were just not that great. So our pronouncement: I hope they work out some kinks, decide who they want to be, have that decor match what they are, and please turn down the air. But the service is great, and when they do something great (the Halibut, the crab cakes), they freaking hit it out of the park. read more

Like it's namesake I think Ember holds potential but it failed to leave us feeling warm inside. The thing we most enjoyed was of course its panoramic views perched above the trees with views of the bay. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious and portions were generous. The cons were unfortunately the reason most of us go out to eat and that's the main courses. Tandoori chicken was overcooked and dry without much seasoning and the scallops were overcooked and over seasoned. The sides were plentiful but felt like filler and were not very good. Risotto was well cooked but lacked a flavor profile and the corn purée was a bit bland. In my opinion there was 2 to 3x too much of it on the plate as well. Likewise the wild rice was flavorless and over used. Prices were understandably high given the location but I wish the food also warranted as much. We were disappointed after having visited Fireside (same owners) earlier in our trip and absolutely loving our meal. We are now 0 for 2 on our anniversary dinner choices but happy to report we both signed on to renew our marriage agreement for another year. read more

We reached out to Lauren to help us with a July Saturday night reservation for 20 people back in April. She was amazing to work with, prompt with calls back and friendly service. Mike was our server and he was wonderful, organized and so personable! The food was delightful, delicious and everyone loved their choice of entree. The view of the water and its location for sunset also stand out. We highly recommend visiting this place when in Door County and we'll be back! read more

First visit to Ember, a new addition to the Fireside Family of Restaurants (Clever!) We had option to sit inside or out, both choices with LOVELY Bay views and ambience. Interesting menu with some Fireside favorites, but also new choices from chef Anthony, with suggested wine pairings.
