2023-08 Revisited this resto that's been renovated as Grâz, a menu of Portuguese cuisine. Locals abound fill this resto on a Wednesday afternoon at lunchtime, but no lineup and no need for reservations. The decor is inviting with various Portuguese art, with a patio area. Large ceiling fans keep you cool and the netting separating the outside patio deters flies/wasps/bees from disturbing your meal inside. Now for the meal! Ordered the Chicken and Ribs Dinner with regular fries, and an extra side order of sweet potato fries. The chicken was juicy and delicious, and the ribs were properly coated with yumminess. Unfortunately, the fries and sweet potato fries were not crispy and somewhat mushy, so we didn't finish them. Thankfully, this left us room to try the Sticky Toffee Pudding. Can we say "DELISH" and happy we ordered dessert. Our server was attentive and engaged, and didn't hurry us to leave even after we paid the bill. Will be returning with friends soon! read more

Was with friends that picked Embers before I could provide an option. I had not enjoyed my meal a few years back. The decor has been updated, and the open air seating is a big improvement. I had a veggie burger. My son a regular burger with bacon and egg and my wife had he roast chicken. We all enjoyed the fries, however they refused to add an egg to the veggie burger (no explanation provided, even thou my son had egg on his beaf burger. The roast chicken was dry and my wife's water arrived in a dirty glass. Over all food was okay, but our server was scarce. Did I enjoy my lunch? No!! I was put off by the general attitude and lack of service. I see no reason to spend my money at a place that doesn't put their clients first. There are so many other places to eat at nearby. First time here. I was met by a friendly server and was seated by the window. It's April so I didn't expect an amazing view - but the amount of natural light in the main dining room is very pleasant. They had a good selection of local and domestic beers on draft - I chose The local - Bobcaygeon IPA. Yum. I had the club sandwich with the house made tomato basil soup. I got it within 15 minutes of ordering. Fresh tasting and home made. They used real chicken, tasty bacon and I added the Bobcaygeon sauce. Overall Very satisfying. I was told by the server that there are new owners and there was a sense of pride in the place. Every patron that has come in has been greeted with a friendly hello and how are you. I like that. A small town version of the mid-range chain restaurant (Boston Pizza, Montanas etc), the decor is reasonable and the staff are kind. The problem is that the food is terrible and the portions are small. I've attached pictures of the quarter chicken, which is rather small but the price is 9 bucks, and the terrible half-rack of ribs for 16 bucks. The sauces are worse than supermarket fare, you'd expect ribs with a reasonable dry rub or complex BBQ sauce, but this stuff is worse than Diana Sauces. Simple ketchup-based flavour with some brown sugar, I swear the ribs were boiled and then maybe finished on a pan or flat grill, ugh. Disappointing. All-in-all, it isn't anything like home-cooked or soulless chain. It's like frozen ribs that you heat up in the oven. Ditto for the veggies. Fries were okay at least. Locals do seem to come to the place but it was dead by 8 pm. Maybe 2 tables at most. read more

Not a very good lunch experience. The restaurant is fairly spread out and coming in from the open lock side I wasn't noticed for some time. The atmosphere is kind of industrial with a touch of cottage life, comfortable enough. I ordered a club sandwich with Bobcaygeon mayo. The sandwich was only slightly toasted and as such was kind of soggy. Couldn't really taste any of the spicy mayo. The fries were soggy and greasy, looked like they had been re-fried several times and so left them on the plate. PEOPLE FRENCH FRIES ARE SUPPOSED TO BE CRISPY!! The wait staff didn't ever check back with me to see if I wanted anything else or check to see if the food was ok; If they had, I would have complained about the fries. I would also have expected that if a customer left half of their food on their plate that the wait staff would have questioned if everything was to my satisfaction. Received the bill, paid, and left... won't likely return. read more

Writing this review while I'm in my 30th minute waiting for my food. Spent most of my time swatting at hornets that have taken over the dining area while I wait. Food will have to be exceptional to compensate for the ridiculous wait time but I may not stick around to find out.... Up to minute 40 and no sign of our food or our server (bacon and eggs). Leaving 2$ on the table for my coffee and giving up. read more

Our family eats here often. Staff is always friendly and efficient. The food is always good.. Soup of the day is homemade and always delicious. Coconut cream pie is so good ....just wish they had a dessert for chocolate lovers. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would! We were in the area and unfortunately this was the only restaurant open. Bad first impression! We walked in and this rude older blonde hair lady with a possible French or German accent approaches and asks the usual "how many"? We respond and she is very abrupt and seats us without another word. So our waitress was fine, we order, food comes, and it was on the cool side and grease laden. Never saw our waitress again for drink refills or anything, until it was time to pay! As we were leaving, the rude lady (possible owner?!) cut in front of us to get something from the hostess stand without as much as a "excuse me", not a single word as we left. You know when you are exiting an establishment, generally someone says "have a good day/night?" Not at this place! I would not recommend this place to anyone...if you are stuck and it's the only restaurant open...go to Subway! read more
