I brought in my car in hopes of getting the dent fixed on my drivers door and scratch on my fender. The moment I pulled up, Julio was ready to inspect the damages of my car and take care of business. After I told him where I wanted my car to get fixed, he went to the office to put in the information onto the system, make his necessary calls, confirm insurance was on the same page, and we set a date for when to drop off my car. About 2 weeks later, when I picked up my car, I was surprised to see they detailed both inside and outside of my car. My car was SO thoroughly clean as if I just bought it. I hadn't seen my car hella clean like that in a while so I thought that was a huge much needed bonus. Most importantly, the dent was gone as if nothing happened. I have seen this on Yelp before, but, I need to say; if I could give Julio and his crew at Emerald City Auto Body more than 5 stars, I would! I took my truck in for a complete paint job, and Julio was excited to help me out. Even though it was not insurance work, many places I called wouldn't do it, and others were quoting me ridiculous prices. Julio wanted the project even though his shop was busy, and he was insistent on me getting exactly what I wanted. When I took my truck to Emerald City, Julio and I discussed some desires about altering the body, like removing some emblems, he had some suggestions also, and we quickly developed a plan. He went far beyond my expectations. He, of course, fixed all the little blemishes which I expected. It was the details, like cleaning and painting my side mirrors (which we hadn't talked about) or painting the radiator and support just so it would look right once the rest was completed (not discussed either) he just did it because he wanted it done right. He even knocked out a dent in my bumper that I wasn't even aware of! Also, Julio sent me pics every couple of days to keep me updated, and he even told me to come by and look at the work in progress. I did, and the guys would step back for me or show what they'd been working on. BTW: My truck is 33 years old, and it looks brand new - wow. Julio and his crew were great to work with, everyone was easy and accommodating. His pricing was incredibly reasonable. I couldn't be happier with the way my truck looks. I get compliments on it all the time. I can't recommend Emerald City enough. The quality of the work and the attention to detail, along with being comfortable talking with anybody there about ideas or changes I made. First of all, I just want to say Julio, YOU DA MAN!!!! My girlfriend had just gotten a brand spanking new car. We backed into a pole and lightly scraped the rear bumper. We panicked! We thought our lives were over...this is cost way too much money not to mention raising our car insurance. We turned to ever-so-helpful Yelp for suggestions; and we came up with a couple of auto body shops in our area...both with 4 1/2 star average rating. After work on Friday, 7/8/11, I started journey to a couple of very expensive esimates....or so I thought!!! I went to Autobody by George on Bayshore Blvd in San Francisco because the reviews are good and they are open on Saturdays (in case I need to drop it off then after estimates). I had called early on Friday and had asked if I could come in for an estimate and what time do they close. George was really nice on the phone and said they closed at 6p. I got there at 3p...the door/gate was closed....called 3 times and no answer! WTF!!!! Right next door was City Auto Tech, talked to Lou, "Could I please get an estimate?" We walked over to my car, Lou looked at it for a second and asked, "Is this going to be paid by insurance?". I said, "Yes, depending on the cost". And to that he said, "You know my estimate machine is not working right now, it actually hasn't worked for about 2 weeks". WTF!!!! Why all the question about the insurance then. Onto the last shop for the day, Emerald Auto Body.... Parked the car in the shop's easy entry spot into the shop, walked into the office and asked for an estimate. Julio greeted me and he was very welcoming. He said let's take a look at your car. After a few seconds, he said, "We can probably buff it out for $40 and I'm sure you'll be happy with it. If you're not, we can do it for $300 and we'll deduct the $40 from it." I was like, OMG! let's do it for $40. 15 minutes later, the car looked IMMACULATE! I expected to pay $300 or so and probably would've since I don't know anything about the costs of fixing scarpes. The point is Julio did not charge unreasonably. The staff are very friendy and respectful. Emerald Auto Body makes stressful car repairs a walk in the park!!! read more

Well, I've had 2 jobs done at this place. The first was to fix the rear bumper and quarter panel and repaint both. That job was beautifully done. The second was to fix the front bumper and fender and that job looked good from a distance and from what my amateur eye could see, so I drove away happy. But I just took my car to get washed and waxed and they pointed out serious problems with the clear coat. There is literally a hardened drip of clear coat on the fender and it is completely rough to the touch. I have no idea what happened or how I missed it. But ugh. I'm so disappointed. Also, major points to Mr. Eco Wash for the assist. Those guys are awesome. UPDATE: I got a call back from the shop and they are standing behind their work and going to pay for a rental car while the rework is done. UPDATE 2: They took my car and gave it back in perfect condition after 2 days. They didn't know what exactly the substance on the car was, but they used a clay bar on the entire car and waxed it and it took off all of the problems. It looks as good as new. They paid for a rental car and even offered to drop the car off at my house. I really appreciate that they stood by their work. -1 pt though because their office has smelled like smoke the last 2 times I've been there. read more

My story starts out sad but has a happy ending thanks to Emerald City... In a rush to get my girls to school, I started reversing my wagon when my daughter yells MOM- STOP! The rear passenger door was still open, and unfortunately, lined up directly to a metal pole. So my car door fought with the pole, and the pole won. My door looked like a bear tried to pry it open on top. Took my car to the dealership, and they promptly told me to take it to an auto body repair shop. The first two shops said I would have to get a new door, with one quote around $2200 + 5-7 days of my car in the shop (so another $200 for car rental)! My last stop was a recommendation from a friend of friend's- Emerald City. (The recommend came from someone who trust Emerald to re-furbish vintage cars.) Not only did owner Julio say he could actually repair the door, but he gave me a quote of $250-300, and he could do it in a day versus the 5-7 biz days the other shops required. True to his word, the door came back like nothing happened. And he apologized that it took longer than expected, so it would be $300, not $250. $50 was nothing considering I was looking at a $1k deductible plus car rental for a week plus. I will forever take any car to this man. He has so much integrity, and his shop is magical as far as I'm concerned! Yeah Julio and staff!!! Thanks for making my little car whole again! read more

I have had Two cars repaired here. The first was my Honda civic that was vandalized by graffiti artists. The second was My Ford Expedition that was hit by a Mack truck. My post got deleted for some reason so I'm posting it again. Yelp team, I am a customer reviewing service I received from Emerald City Auto Body and I believe I am well within the guidelines. If you have question feel free to contact me - Fellow Yelpers, my review is long only because I am so happy with the results of my car and wanted to share it with you all. Anyways, I inherited a Fiat Spider and wanted to get it painted. I shopped around without success until I happened across Emerald City Auto Body. As I drove up I saw a couple classic cars sitting out front and the paint jobs looked pretty nice. I parked the car across the street and started to walk towards the shop. As I approached a gentleman came up to greet me, introduced himself (Julio) and complimented me on my 36 year old car. He told me he'd worked on these Spiders years ago, but that it had been quite some time since he last saw one. Through conversation I mentioned to him that I was restoring the car and wanted a quote for a paint job. He asked me what it is I wanted done and I walked him through my long list. He looked it over and ended up giving me a very fair and reasonable quote and said he'd have it done in 3 weeks. He pointed to the classics sitting out front and said he'd make it look just like them. He then told me to come with him down the block and around the corner as he wanted to show me where they restore the classic cars. I went with him and saw quite a number of old cars that were being worked on. I saw his guys working on cars that were literally rust buckets. I watched one of them cut out a rusted area and fabricate on the fly a metal replacement piece. It was pretty amazing how fast and efficient these guys worked. It didn't take but a moment to know this was where I wanted to have my car worked on. Needless to say I decided on Emerald City. I told Julio I wasn't in any rush and that he could take as long as he wanted. He told me to feel free to come by as often as I'd like and to take as many pictures I wanted. During the process I got to know really well both the guys who work on the older cars, Edwin and Wilmer. Since I work a split shift and just a couple blocks away I ended up stopping by at least twice a day to take pictures of the progress or just hang out and watch them work. Edwin was the one who worked on my car and I have to say he is one patient person. I have to admit I'm a perfectionist and pretty anal to having things done a certain way. Heck, put it this way, "I'd hate to work for me!" LOL!!! Suffice it to say, Edwin is one of "THE BEST" body men I've ever come across. He's like the Michael Angelo of body work. He can makes things look better than original. The way the car turned out you could tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. All I can say is the end result is FLAWLESS. You can see my car in the photos - it's the green convertible. In one of the pics you can see Julio saying via hand motions "There She Is!" All that said, if you need any type of auto body repair done, take it to Emerald City. Julio the owner is very personable and makes you feel as if you're his best friend. They have by far the BEST Customer Service, have the most conscientious workers, do outstanding work and has the most gorgeous and friendly front office manager named Zoila!
