Regular customer here. I came into the Tacoma 38th location to purchase my usual protein shakes for myself and husband and Ostrim, protein sticks I buy often. The display box clearly showed a price sticker of $19.99, but at checkout I was told the price was now $25 because the system was updated. Price changes happen, but the dismissive attitude and rude response when I politely questioned the discrepancy was disappointing and unnecessary. Customer service and professionalism still matter. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I won't be returning to this location or any of them if it's owned by the same owner. This morning, I decided to "help the economy" and ordered a Mango, Berry Smoothie with the additions of ginger and caffeine via Door Dash to my hotel room at the Hotel Murano. OH HAPPY DAY! Now, truth be told, I don't usually drink smoothies. I should. I just don't. Forgive me. I almost didn't order this one, but I did. YAY! THIS WAS FANTASTIC! Add the ginger, you will thank me. The caffeine is up to you but after helping with a rather large (and delightful) event the night before I really, really, really needed the caffeine, just saying... It was a hot summer day, and I was craving a smoothie. This was my first time at this Emerald City Smoothie located in Tacoma. Honestly, I hate where it is located. It is located near the plaza where Ross and Michael's are, but it is separated from that area. So, it has very limited parking and it is right by a pretty busy intersection on 38th street. They have really great bread and stuffed breads and pastries. I mainly go there for the bread. But it's a whole store with many kinds of bread, spread, canned fruits and veggies. I think it's run by either Ukrainian or Russian women. They have a good selection of fresh food too. Great for everyday shopping. read more

Not bad! I haven't been in an ECS location in years and have forgotten/noticed how many protein powders and energy blends they have full of added refined sugars and additives. Ironically, they did have something in the front corner that caught my eye: Barleans organic energy seed blend (look it up, yo). Perfect for smoothies, oatmeals, etc. I did get a nice simple smoothie with some berries, banana, avocado and I think ginger. It was nice and the ladies working were kind. Decent option for clean healthy vegan smoothie and seed blends. read more

Alexia is the only reason I come to this location! She is friendly, always knows my drink when I walk in, and makes it better than anyone else!!! So many times I have come in and someone else either gave me a 24oz when I paid for a 32oz, forgot an ingredient, or just isn't very friendly greeting me when I come in. The first time I went onto the store the lady was really nice but a customer came in and asked if it was okay not wear mask. She awkwardly say ok. They need more people in there, she was a female and clearly uncomfortable saying no to a big man like that customer. Today, second time doing business with them a different girl was hella rude to us. We were looking at the manu and she couldn't wait for us to look at it. To be clear there was 3hrs before them closing it wasn't like we came in last minute. I completely understand having a bad/long day. I have worked retail before but that's no excuse to treat the customer like garbage. She didn't had to be extremely happy or nice to us, just polite. Never coming back to this location. read more

Been here a few times, and it's okay on it's best day. The girls that work here have been pleasant-ish. They aren't outwardly helpful or chatty, but I get it, they're there to make smoothies, not entertain me. Though sometimes they are dressed like they're entertainment. Today one of the girls had leggings on that went soooooo far up her butt and a jacket body suit, but the body suit wasn't inside the leggings and snapped. She had it hanging outside her leggings. They made the door dash orders before mine and 2 other guys in there. Both employees looked mad to be there. And lemme tell you the price point does not match the product. The smoothies are fresh fruit either, they're just a bunch of syrups and purees and whey protein, masking healthy but really just a bunch of sugar. Also if you're paying with a card they force you to tip 18-22%, they don't give you an option to tip less or not at all. Will I go back here? Yeah probably, it's down the street from my work, but will I be disappointed, yeah. read more

Let's just say I go out of my way to go here! I pretty much get the same smoothie every time. Nutty Banana extra peanut butter. This is my "healthy" milkshake! Lol! Consistency is key! They definitely do a great job on that part and always a friendly greeting when entering the doors. If the consistency is not there they go the extra mile to accommodate you. Super cool owner and staff. I'm not too educated on the health factors of these smoothies but I always feel good and satisfied with my smoothie. Pricing I think is the best around and their weekly perks make hard to pass up. Definitely recommend this 38th location. read more
