However, I never received any billing statements from ABS until I received a phone call demanding payment and falsely stating that the account could be sent to collections and negatively impact my credit score -- which is not true, as medical billing cannot be reported to credit bureaus. When I requested that ABS provide the statements or send duplicates, they stated this was not possible due to using a third-party mailing service. When the statements finally arrived, they reflected balance billing despite my insurance clearly indicating what my patient responsibility was. The total billed was $2,300; insurance covered $1,100, and my responsibility was $300, though there was an attempt to charge me $400. The involvement of the owner of Nutrition Authority in the billing process caused additional confusion and demonstrated a lack of professionalism. Overall, the process was stressful, disorganized, and not handled in a manner that reflects fair or transparent billing practices.
