Tim puts a lot of detail into the fit and finish of his work. I recently took my '17 GTI 4-door to Emerald after being so pleased with the job he did on my '15 Jetta. I had several complements on the Jetta tint, even from a car detailer that also did tinting. His wife, who runs the office side is very kind, helpful in selecting tint, and even offered to give me a ride to a cafe so I wasn't late for a meeting (Lyft/Uber can sometimes get lost finding the place). The only problem I had with Emerald City Window Tinting was finding the place. When I looked on Google Maps street view, it showed an empty lot surrounded by chain link fence and concertina wire. OK, that can't be right. Google has it wrong... ECWT is actually on the other side of Roy, but when you look at Google street view on that side it seems like just another of Joe Diamond's parking lots. Nope. In the building behind the parking lot you'll find ECWT. The best (and almost only) way to get here is to head south on Highway 99/Aurora Ave, hook a right on Roy and then take your first (almost immediate) left. I started with the Groupon deal, and did a couple of upgrades. I got the better grade of film (color-stable) and the "factory" look on the top edges of the windows. They did a good job of explaining the options without getting into a hard sell. They also did a great job of trying to understand what I wanted and why I wanted it, and as a result everything looks great. I waited the five days to roll the windows down, open the sunroof, and the fit and finish are great. I also lucked into a great opportunity. They wanted to use my car for a video they were making, so I figured sure, what the hell. I didn't notice it until I got home but they had quietly tinted my sunroof for free as a thank-you. I can't believe this is my first review! I guess I've been lazy these last few years to complete my profile and I haven't honestly had any reasons to submit reviews for any places until now. This should say something about my experience at ECW. A friend of mine had his tint job here using a Groupon deal and the quality of work was good enough for me to make an appointment. Tim was very accommodating and did not pressure me at all for a sale when going over my options. I settled with the 3M color stable film at 20% and could not be happier with my choice. I dropped my car off at 9am and picked it up at 5pm looking newer than ever and it was already 98% cured! Helps to get a tint during warm weather. Folks, the reason you come on Yelp is to find that one place that does the best job with great service. ECW is your place! Tim, the owner was great from start to finish. He spent at least 20 minutes on the phone when I first called his to discuss all my tinting option. I wanted the absolute best tint with the highest heat rejection. In my mind, I had a couple different brands in mind but he pointed me to 3M Crystalline, the Rolls Royce of tints. I decided to bring three of my cars to have Tim tint including a BMW M5. In the past, I would sometimes be hesitant to bring my cars for tint because they wouldn't take the panels off correctly, but Tim assured me that he didn't need to take off any panels. I was very happy to hear that! So how were the results? One word: AMAZING! He did the best job I've seen, and I've had cars tinted at the bigger names in town. And the best result, he wasn't joking about the 3M Crystalline being great stuff, my car's cabin is significantly cooler. For those with EV vehicles, you are going to be saving electricity because your A/C isn't pulling such a hard load. Don't look any further, Tim is your man! In fact, I'm going back next week to have a full clear wrap on the front with 3M Ventureshield. Great service, great prices and most importantly - Great workmanship! I purchased a Groupon for Emerald City Window Tinting to get all my windows tinted on my 2005 Saab 9-3 Aero. I had been considering tinting my windows for some time since my eyes are sensitive to super sunny days, and I wanted a bit more privacy when driving my car around the city at night. Not to mention, I've seen similar cars tinted, and they just look better... First of all, this Groupon offer was a steal!! They did my whole car with Premium F/X film for $150!! I did 20% all around to be street legal, and I added a visor strip for a nominal upgrade fee for those sunny days when you get blinded through the windshield. The visor strip also helps to make it a bit darker for privacy, while still giving me good visibility through the rear window when driving my car. Came here to do window tint on my Kia, trying to get that all around blacked out look. Did 15% in the back and 25% in the front which works really well and is within legal limit(if you're worried about that sort of thing). Overall amazing job done. It's been 4 days and I'm blown away every time I look at the car on how good it looks. You can't see in!! It's what I was going for and these guys did the job fantastically. I came here to redeem my groupon i purchased for automobile window tinting. It was $150 toward window tinting valued at $325. Pretty good deal. At first the place is pretty hard to find. It's behind the Sheraton behind the parking lot on the corner of Roy and Aurora. The front desk gal was super friendly, she even called me the day before my scheduled appointment to remind me. I had some choices of 3M tint to choose from. I chose to get the upgrade limited lifetime warranty %20 for an additional $69. You don't have to get the upgrade the premium film they offer is already pretty good. I also had an existing rear visor tint on the back windshield of my car which they removed for only $30 and replaced it with a new one. I had nowhere to go or anyone to pick me up so i waited in the waiting room for about 2 hours. The couches in there are super comfy so i helped myself to a nice nap. The front desk gal noticed it was cold and offered to bring me a space heater which was super nice of her. After the tinting was complete i was very satisfied with how it came out. The only thing that sucked was the wait, i recommend that you plan ahead and schedule something to do because that wait room doesn't have whole lot in there to entertain yourself. If you're looking to get your windows tinted for your car i recommend purchasing that groupon to save yourself some money. They do a great job! read more

I went online to their website filled out a request a quote got a response several days later that didn't cover all I asked about. Went ahead to schedule an appointment got a date without a time when I emailed for a time got no response so I called got their voicemail saying to leave a message or hang up and text, so I hung up and texted saying I wanted to confirm a time for the appointment. I did not get a call or a text back instead got an email the next day asking if noon was ok I replied that's fine thank you. Even though I was getting a little annoyed. Now the day before my appointment I got another email saying they wanted to confirm the appointment, well since we had already been back and forth so much I thought this should be done with I mean my mechanic doesn't call me to confirm so why would the I simply suggested that it was rediculous this back and forth and that they should get their shit together and they took offence to my use of the word shit or my criticism and decided that they would reserve the right to refuse service. I don't care what anyone says everyone has the right to speak their opinion using whatever words they choose and if you work in the service industry you need to learn to grin and bear it because the costomer is always right as long as they remain non violent. Now he has posted part of our conversation on here that has nothing to do with their refusalal of service it's just me responding how I'm allowed to respond to being called rude and if you look at the reviews theirs one from a tim n. I've used Emerald City tint for over 10 years now. They've tinted 2 4runners, a Saab, an x3, wrx, pathfinder, outback, bmw 325, and now a Jeep Cherokee. Every tint job was done perfectly! I've never had any bubbling or poor installations, every job looked absolutely amazing! I had my windows tinted a few months back and wow, they look great! Professional installation and courteous service to boot. Really what put the ice cream on the top was that my window had been catching the rubber/felt seal on the inside bottom which made the window go down very slowly and eventually burn up the motor. I called them, they told me to come down to have a look and 20 minutes they polished up the window and the felt and the window was good as new. Bought my window tint off groupon and sure glad I went here. The place was a bit weird because it was just a random building when you walk in. But when I got there I got greeted by Tim who was really nice. He explained the different kinds of tint that they offered. The only thing that bothered me was the additional price I had to pay for a different film and also an extra cost to have the film look smooth on the edges of the window but when I picked up my car around 4 hours later, the tint looked amazing and they did a really nice job. This place did a fantastic job on my window tint. The guy working the desk in the morning was super helpful and explained the different options and helped me pick out the right now for my car. He even showed me his car out in the lot so I had a point of reference. Would definitely recommend to a friend. Just know that if you get a 9 a.m. drop off appt that means you can't get your car until sometime between 5-6pm. If you get a waiting appt it is 3-4 hours. You could leave and come back if you want but it means you're not stuck without a car all day if you really need it that night. read more

I had purchased a Groupon deal for Emerald City Window Tinting to get the side and rear windows tinted on my Audi A6. I had compared the pricing and reviews of a few other tinting shops on the eastside, and Emerald City was cheaper by far even without the Groupon deal. Plus given the other reviews on Yelp and that they are a registered dealer of 3M (checked 3M's site), I decided to give them a try, and I was thoroughly pleased. When I came in, Tim walked me through all the options, and was very patient and upfront with all my questions. The Groupon deal is for the 3M FX Premium, but I upgraded to Color Stable based on the research I had done, but even paying the extra amount for it was still significantly cheaper than the other places I had checked. After the car was done it looked amazing! And the quality of the work is fantastic too. I have not seen any bubbles or any other issues with the tint so far. If you're looking to get the windows on your car tinted, I would highly recommend that you check them out. read more

If you knew me, you would know that I am super picky and frugal so to get 5 stars is a big deal. SO where do I start ---- Awesome customer service to start my experience. I first talked to Tim on the phone after reading the reviews on Yelp. Tim was easy to talk with and answered all my questions and set up an appointment pretty quickly, He asked when I needed to pick up my car and based on the time I said, he said he would come in early to make sure the car was ready on time. The workmanship on my new 3M complete paint protection kit was amazing! No bubbles even though Tim said it is possible that you might see some initially as it takes time to lay down completely. Price couldn't be beat either. Since this was a new location for Emerald City Tinting and Signs, they are offering a special for the month of July which was great. To top it off the great experience and workmanship, Tim took the time to explain how to care for the film and the do's and dont's. In addition, he suggested products (Meguiar's Quik Detailer) to protect my investment. I didn't even get that service when I bought my last kit from the Lexus dealer. He sealed the deal for me. The guys here were very professional. The work wasn't as perfect as I am used to from other tinting places. I had my two front windows tinted and there are definitely a few dust particles stuck in the tint. I got my first new car last year and I have never had my windows tinted before. I had gone to Emerald City Tint because I was referred by a friend that had also used them and said they were amazing. Because I had never tinted my windows before, I had no Idea what type of tint I should get that would look good and would work for what I wanted as far as privacy and security. Emerald City Tint was very helpful they talked me through the process, showed me pictures, and gave many examples of different options I could go with. They were very involved in my decision making process. I went from being nervous about going too dark on the tint or too light, to a very confident comfortable decision. When I got my car back It was beautiful the tint looked great. I did my homework on prices before I went to Emerald City and it is very reasonable. Just make sure you can give up at least 3 to 4 hours to allow them to do their job. Emerald City Window Tinting was very helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. I bought a Groupon for their window tinting services, and was very pleased with the work they did. Scheduling was a challenge for me because they were so busy after the Groupon came out, so I left my availability and the lady called me back quickly with a time that worked. When I got there, I had two cars to tint, but just the front on one and the back on the other, and the guy was happy to split it up for me- thank you!! This was my first time getting windows tinted, and his expertise was appreciated in helping me decide on how dark to go. He sent me home with a care sheet to refer to, which was really helpful. It apparently takes a few days for the tint to dry in the wet seattle spring climate, so I really liked that they also put stickers on my window buttons to make sure I remembered to not roll my windows down before they were dry. Still have one car to have tinted soon, and look forward to doing more business here. read more

Very pleased with this service. I'd never had my car windows tinted before, so I did a ton of research on products and vendors. When I visited Emerald City, Tim spent a lot of time explaining the 3M products. I was primarily interested in UV and heat blockage, not dark windows, so I chose 3M Crystalline -- 70% on side and back windows and 90% on the windshield. Scheduling an appointment was easy. It did require leaving my car overnight because the crystalline product takes more time to apply, but this was not a problem for me since I love nearby. The end result was beautiful. It's only been a month or so, but there are no noticeable flaws anywhere, and the heat blockage is as impressive as advertised. All in all, a great customer experience -- prompt and courteous service, superb work. I wish more people took this kind of pride in their work. read more
