First things first: this is really not a comic book store. It is a haven for a bunch of dorks to play Magic and other games on Friday nights. Now they do sell comics, toys, T-shirts and others things but every time I walk in the store there a bunch of tables out on the floor with those dorks playing Magic. I'm not against gaming per se; I actually first walked into Emerald Knights late on a Friday night and thought it was kind of cool to see people playing games rather than going out and getting drunk. Emerald Knights has two floors and the second floor has a bunch of other board games (chess, checkers, etc...) that you could play with a friend, but, again, the store seems like a haven for Magic dorks. The staff is a little short with you sometimes too. They enforce a 10 dollar minimum for credit card purchases. That's illegal for one thing (look it up if you don't believe me) and secondly if I was going to buy 2 comic books and decided not to because of the stupid minimum purhcase policy then that's 8 dollars that Emerald Knights doesn't earn. I never understood that policy especially with food places. How much are the credit card companies really charging you to use their service that you have to demand your customers to purchase 10 dollars worth of goods? If your customers walk out on you then is it worth it? I'm giving Emerald 2 stars because they do have some cool toys and rare things to purchase and they have a decent back issue selection. The store is spacious too and they always have free mini posters from the latest movie releases as well as other advertisements such as bookmarks and key chains. I just don't think their staff really cares about the people who are ACTUALLY BUYING things from the store and there's just this weird vibe when you walk in like if you're new then you can't be part of their dork circle with all the Magic playing. So what would happen if I wanted to come in with a few friends just to go upstairs and play some boards games? Is that welcome? There obviously is some kind of organized thing with all the guys who play Magic so can Emerald Knight organize a "game night" where all are welcome. Heck, you could even make it a singles night and invite girls. read more

Emerald Knights is spacious, you receive great help, 10% discount on new comics with bag and board, and if you're a member, you receive an additional 10%. Since the place is 2 stories, the bottom floor is dedicated to comics and t-shirts and some graphic novels. The top floor is dedicated to RPG games. Also since there is so much room upstairs, Emerald Knights have about 8 tables up there for their customers to use for RPG style games, thats awesome, because you don't see that to often. You can find parking in the front of the store or you can go to the back and find a private lot just for their store. Dark Delicacies is down the street and Champs Bar and Grill is across the street. Its brand its been open for a couple of months now, but its awesome nonetheless. Before I forget if you buy merchandise totaling over $25 you get to shoot at plastic bottles that contain additional discounts with a nerf bow and arrow. read more

If you want to play Magic the Gathering go here. If you want to BUY Magic the Gathering look elsewhere. They are overpriced and the staff has an arrogant attitude about the game and will try to make you feel stupid every chance they get if you're talking Magic. Also if you are going to go here to play bring your own pose because they people who play here are very unperson-able and are still the socially awkward stereotype that you think of as a Magic the Gathering player from high school. If you are going here for anything besides Magic then don't waste your time because there is no selection here at all. You buy Magic or you buy something involved with the Green Lantern. The stuff they do have in stock greatly favors DC and above all the Green Lantern... I think the owner might have some kind of fetish there... too bad because the Green Lantern is a stupid super hero. I don't like this place... read more

I've been going to this place since right after they opened up when the GW store in Northridge shut down. There were I think three owners there at the time. I dealt mostly with Jay who has always been nice to myself and the rest of the GW refugees. The store has a large stock of comics and comic related items in addition to Magic, Magic singles and a good stock of product for Warmachine and GW games as well as an assortment of board games. The major plus for this place is that they have so much room on their mezzanine for gaming. Nice, clean and organized with clean bathrooms that you don't feel a need to carry disinfectant and your own toilet paper into. All in all if you're in the NoHo or surrounding areas this is the place to game. read more

Cool stuff and fair prices. Bought a membership and I will be back. The only reason they did not get a five star rating is because of their minimum purchase rule if you want to use a credit card. I loathe this practice by small businesses. As stated by the owner the act he mentioned does indeed allow businesses to charge a minimum fee of up to $10 and I have revised my review accordingly and given them an extra star. I apologize for my ignorance about the matter. I rarely carry cash when I'm out and if I stop by a store to buy something and they're like nope can't do it we need you to spend more...well it isn't exactly accommodating. read more

This review is based on one visit to the store for roughly 30 minutes. I was looking for a store to experience FNM and Emerald Knights was one of the store locations that came up in my search. The first thing you will notice when you first step in the store is the sheer size of it. Two levels with plenty of tables and game types for all your entertainment needs. The store is very clean and the staff our friendly and knowledgable. I had a ton of questions and they answered everyone with a smile. Hands down, the best store to get your geek reading on in Burbank! The place is filled with good stuff and the people who work here are super friendly. Anyways, they totally rock it! They cover many interests, I can even come here with my girl and shop around for awhile, she usually finds some art book or alternate interest grafic novel to keep her occupied. Not the usual nagging to leave attitude. If they dont have something youre looking for just ask, they are very familiar with thier stock. Great place for trades but not back issues. read more

a very nice place to get my issues during my lunch break the staff is great the selection is superb! and their back issues stock is far out nice... great selection of variants too... they have an arsenal of game pieces (I dnt do that so not sure what is called) but im amazed at the detail these lil figures have lol.... oh also they have a nice stock on novels!! Emerald Knights is mandatory stop on any visit to the area with friends from out of town. While it's a huge mess and overcrowded during the holiday season , as long as you're prepared for the craziness, you'll enjoy your visit. Grab the soldier at the front of the door, take a photo and use it as your Christmas card, because the line to jump on the "BIG" piano will just be way too long. If you're looking for a gift under $30, you'll find it, but not without a great hunt. read more

These guys are a real class act. They were one of the first clean game stores to come back into the North Hollywood area. Lots of room to game. They have lots of Magic played there. They also carry comics, 40 K, Warmachine and Reaper miniatures. Jay and Jason are great people, always helpful, always polite. So many options and this place is HUGE. They have everything and you can become a member for $25 and get discounts. What could be better than that? Great comic selection, a lot of trading cards, from magic to Star Wars destiny. Can't recommend this place enough. To top it off, this place is also a gym in Pokémon go. The space was huge. There was an upstairs loft for board games, etc., which was impressive. The staff were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable, especially for the noobies in my party. The board game we were looking for wasn't in stock and they were nice enough to order it for us. Product came in by the following week. Great store filled with comics and board games/trading cards. It's really big, it even has two floors. The staff for the most part is always friendly, with the exception of a woman with glasses who seems to always give me attitude. It's also a Pokémon gym which is always a plus if you're waiting for your friend to look for something and are trying to kill time. read more

First time in the area, vist this shop and was instantly greeted. Smiles all around and very informative. Effective clerks that are able to withstand my onslaught of questions.
