This is one of the largest comics and games stores I've been too in LA. The 2nd floor is dedicated to game tables which is really nice. The store is aslo very clean. Most game stores are filthy and grimy but EK is very clean and they pride themselves on that. I go there to play Magic and they have a good turnout for FNMs and tournaments as the store seats a lot with the dedicated game tables. The staff is very friendly and knowlegable about a variety of games and comics. The one thing I don't like is their membership and tournament pricing. This always has been an issue for me as I've been going there for years. If you become a member for $25 a year, then FNMs are $13 instead of $15 which is what it is everywhere else. Sealed deck tournaments are $30 instead of $35 for non members. Other stores charge $25-30 without any membership. This tiered pricing continues for all events that for the most part, your membership price makes it about the same or maybe a bit more than other places. The membership should make it less than other places. You do get 1% back in your purchases at year end, but that doesnt entirely make up for the extra you pay per event. Other than the membership and tournament pricing, this store is awesome and is home to many regulars. The only reason this place isnt 5 stars for me is what I mentioned above. It is still one of the best places in LA to go to. read more

I entered this store looking to catch up on some comics i havent read in a while and they seem to have a pretty decent collection I couldnt help be put off by the blatant Dildo rocketeer they have prominently displayed bucking hard in the middle of their store. It seemed rather inappropriate to have a giant dildo rocketeer throbbing in a family store so when i approached an employee with my concerns about it he rudely retorted "Bro do u even lube?" im sorry but i cant recommend this store to anyone who is not interested in purchasing lubed up dildo rocketteers read more

I've come home. This is my home when it comes to comic shops. Apon entry I found this place to be very huge (2 floors huge) They're stocked with the current issues of comics, Magic The Gathering cards, numerous board games, shirts and any other nerdy paraphernalia you can think of. The store is filled with tables, welcoming the dungeons and dragons and Magic The Gathering crowd with open hands. Infact, they have MTG tournaments held on most of the days of the week and some other sort of event every other day. There's always something going on in this place. They even have a coffee and comics night where people sit and talk about current issues - if you're into that thing (Although, the lack of coffee makes it a bit misleading) Their hours are awesome usually closing at around 10 on the weekdays and 12 on the weekends. Great for that late night D&D session. As far as discounts go, when you become a member (a $25 charge) you get 10% off your pull list. And for parking? Nothing to complain about there. For last remarks? Just go there. You won't be disappointed. The people are nice and the stuff they carry is awesome. read more

Very clean, organized, and well lit inside, especially compared to The Last Grenadier. Emerald Knights has a bit friendlier staff, it seems, too. Julie (I hope I got her name right) was friendly, conversational, and quite helpful. Good selection of board games, including what I was looking for (Cosmic Encounter), and reasonable prices, though I decided to hold off on the board game and picked up some MTG cards instead. They have a decent selection of rare/powerful MTG cards, as well as some other cards, on display, available to buy singularly. Definitely would recommend, and I'll be there again soon read more

The staff here is incredibly friendly and helpful. I've only been here twice, but the guys behind the counter recognized me when I came back in. Most of the time I see shops like this who cater to their regulars--but I felt like a regular on my second visit! I came to play Magic: the Gathering, for which they have multiple events weekly. There was an upstairs loft are that had a lot of people playing tabletop games as well (from what I understood, it was a mix of Warhammer and others). The tournament organizer, Martin, is a super cool dude. Very organized and also prompt. He learns EVERYONE's names, which scores a lot of points in my book. Much better to have him make a connection than, for instance, point and say "you're paired with that guy with the blue backpack." New to the area and trying to find my go-to stores, Martin and his coworkers were very welcoming. I would definitely recommend Emerald Knights to anyone interested in mtg, or if you are new to gaming and want a healthy environment to learn. The other patrons at the store were also friendly, mostly everyone was between 20-30 years old. read more

Though Emerald Knights has only been in business for a month, they have proven to be a great place for guys and gals looking to improve their collection in anything from toys, clothing, comics, and games. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. There are numerous tables on the 2nd floor of the building for gaming. They had open card game night (Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh, etc.) on the 7th of February, but there was a shortage of people because of the rain. As they grow, I'm sure a lot more people will find and and enjoy the atmosphere it provides for the LA area. They even have a freebie table set up by the door! read more

Went there today after reading about them here on Yelp. As a regular of another comic shop, I have to admit that this guy if off to a great start. First off, Kudos to this guy for starting up a new small business in these turbulent economic times! That combined with his genuine desire to create a great comic shop makes him automatically worthy of your business. The 2-story space is amazing and has so much potential, especially for signings and events in the future. The space above is devoted to gaming which hopefully will generate income for him with tournaments and just the regular after school crowd. He has a decent supply of mainstream comics and was fairly friendly when I walked in the door (I was the only one in there). After I had been there a little while he warmed up and we began talking comics and his plans for the store. He seemed like a nice enough guy. I admit I had to geek out a little with all the Green Lantern t-shirts on the wall as well as sketches he aquired at various comic cons and sells. He also has a great membership program that gets you discounts on new titles, early notifications for signings and events, and another unique program where once you become a member they start tracking your purchases and at the end of a year you get a coupon equal to 1% of what you have purchased over the year. Doesn't seem like a lot but it can add up, especially if you've got a $100 a month pull list. Okay even then it's not much but still, better than nothing. Membership costs $25. The down side to the shop was that his inventory was still relatively small. His non-mainstream titles were not represented very well and his trade selection was extremely minimal. Something he'll need to fix as this is becoming a comic shops best source of income. Back issues were pretty slim as well. Parking, as far as I could tell, was street parking only. So overall I'm gonna give this 4 stars even though it probably deserves 3 based on the lack of actual comic inventory but he definitely gets another point for effort. And what he lacks in inventory now will be made up over time. He's brand new and will gradually increase his stock. If he can stick it out as a business until he gets a real following, this could be a great place to go for your weekly book and merch. read more

Went here with a friend to play. Was a bit disappointed that there wasnt any vanguard product. They had a ton of tables so there was plenty of space for us to play. The employees were really nice. I recently moved from IL and was looking for a new hangout place and i ran across Emerald Knights online. Me and my little brother went there last week for the first time. He is a huge comic book fanatic and I play lots of MTG. The lady behind the counter literally walked my brother around and helped/explained to him the different comics and what was new. She even took the time to listen to what he liked and why (something I don't even do most times) and then hand wrote a list of different one that he night be interested in. They have a nice selection of MTG cards as well as a huge list of events for pretty much every night of the week. The store is HUGE and very well lit. The staff is amazing and very helpful.The atmosphere is awesome and lots of new and fun people to meet. Lots of street parking (1hr and 2 hr max though)..there is also a small parking lot behind the store. Pricing for packs and boxes are about average.. singles pricing seems fair as well..as with any store there will be mark up...thats how a business survives and the atmosphere is worth it. They also have a yearly membership that is only $25 which you save 10% on everything. so from my experience They have earned a life long customer. Im actually heading there in a few more hours... Even though I took my nephew there to buy comics and it's not really a comic book store, I became the exalted aunt. There were so many things to look at. He's totally into Sonic, Star Wars and Reel Steel. He was in little boy heaven. I was pretty stoked about the games there were to buy and since I went to take him to buy a gift, I narrowly avoided buying myself something as well, but it's a super cool and totally different kind of place. This place seems pretty clean and very diverse. They seem to have all sorts of geeky stuff available: board games, tabletop game pieces, comics, soft/hardbound comic collections, statuettes as well as tournaments, etc. The only negative, as I'm super into board games, is that the board game selection was pretty sparse. Their books, etc. are OCD clean and all individually wrapped--that can be good or bad depending on your outlook. I'll be back to check this place out again sometime. read more

Large selection of back issues. Huge shop with a lot of room. A lot of space for gaming. Went in to find a few comics to complete my House of M tie-ins. I found a couple of books priced well above what they were actually worth though. By then, I was just satisfied finishing off my collection. Nice and clean shop overall. read more

In the heart of Burbank there is a Light, it is Emerald Knights - great place for trades and statues.

Great shop! Could use the space to keep more product in stock, BUT unlike many gaming/comic shops, EK is not crowded and dark. The gaming community seems solid, and the Monsterpocalypse guys that are there every Thursday are about as cool a group of folks you are every going to meet. Nerdgasm. Its the word that readily comes to mind when thinking of this place. I run a Pathfinder/D&D group, and we come here a lot for supplies, as well as sending our friends here to get theirs. Before we started using the Pathfinder pawns, we would always come here to get our figures and paints. They have an amazing selection of prepainted figures. They also have a really good selection of board games. We regularly find things we can't find anywhere else. Our last great find was an expansion to the game Zombies!!! with zombie children. That added a new twist to our game night. The gaming tables are located upstairs, so they don't interfere with the customers shopping. Nice layout. And the staff is friendly. I've never visited without at least one person checking on us. That's hard to find at a gaming store. read more

This store seems to primarily entertain card games.. Which I have no problem with at all! It's super cool cuz they also stay open later than most spots :) the staff is friendly and everything seems to be easy to find. They always have stuff I want but I just never bite the bullet and buy! Can't go wrong, they have a big selection of Vallejo paints! Friendly helpful staff that was knowledgeable about the kickstarter games. Spacious with lots of tables to game upstairs and down. Way to go emerald dragon! FYI Vallejo paints was sold out on many colors. read more

Like most places I go, I came here looking for minis and dice. So, the selection of minis is stellar. I nearly wrenched one of the display minis off the wall before realizing there is a system to shopping for them, involving the use of slips of paper, and the numbers on the front of the minis...once I knew how it worked, it was easy enough to shop, but I feel like my small to mid sized stature robbed me of really checking out the ones way up on top. I spent about two minutes looking around before an employee approached me and said hello, not bad considering in most shops like this I am largely ignored. The employee was helpful, and after telling him what I was looking for (rangers, archers. things with bows and arrows.) he even spent a few minutes helping me pick a few out. He was not pushy, or intrusive at all, and was genuinely very helpful. I continued shopping on my own, and picked out about 25+ minis to be pulled for me. The employee at the counter was super helpful, and took no time at all pulling them for me. He was barely even annoyed when I decided not to get the whole lot of them, so that was nice. I took a wander around as he was pulling them for me, and man, they have a lot of cool stuff in here. Board games, card games, comics and collectibles. They have a really fair price on those 1:1 Green Lantern power batteries, and I ended up regretting not picking one up when I was in. I think the only thing that I didn't really see was a selection of dice that wowed me. I really expected a shop with this plethora of minis would have an equally impressive collection of dice. But alas, I ended up getting a few loosy dice at the counter, but there wasn't a single full set of poly's that I had to have. Kind of a bummer...Alas, the minis ended up being wacky cheap, and I had a couple of nice chats with the fellas working, overall this is a really pleasant shop, with some good people who really seem to enjoy what they're doing. Even as a casual gamer, who just collects archer minis, I felt welcome here. Will return for more minis, hopeful that one day the cabinet of dice will embiggen. read more
