Absolutely despicable that the complex doesn't reprimand its renters for leaving trash everywhere EXCEPT the trash bin. The bin will be empty and these renters just drop their garbage on the ground, attracting animals to come rip open the bags. It stinks and is unsanitary. I have never seen a warning or this noted in the weekly newsletter etc. in the year that I've lived here. Not even a sign out there telling people to correct their actions. They do nothing about it. It's sickening and truly makes me question my lease! We also get charged an absurd amount monthly for garbage- probably because the garbage company has to come by multiple times a week to pick up after people and remove large items like mattresses etc on behalf of the masses- leaving the rest of us to pay for it! read more

Updating this review. Maintenance team - here is good and takes care of issues as they come up. The maintenance has improved and I love the app very modern. Location - is five stars one of the most centralized locations but nothing is around it such as stores, restaurants etc which can be inconvenient but as far as noise quality kind of a blessing sometimes. It does have a peaceful green belt feel in a city. Noise quality - the noise has improved some either that it I just got used to it and have some great "white noise" fans. It is near two freeways can be noisy in the winter but tolerable. Smokers - still smoking if you like smokers smoking inside this is your place. If they fixed the smoking I would highly recommend this place. I don't mind someone smoking on the back porch but the constant smell of cigarettes can be heavy at times at Emerald Ridge. Management - I like some of the management as I feel like they listen and take care of issues I have lived here for years and I like Emerald Ridge and some of the managers. The smoking issue is the big one for me like I said four or five stars if it wasn't for the smoking. There have been several updates tho lately the apartment has hired a trash company, which has helped a lot, the doors are now keyless entry good move not sure I like the setup with the odd box they installed. Parking lot repaved looks much better. Signs were replaced looks more modern. See expenditures. Wifi - things are improving but cel service and wifi can be spotty here Amenities - they have a gym and the pool is smaller but ok. From what I have seen many places in the area offer garbage service, package services, concierge services, restaurant service (not Uber or DDash actual restaurant services), walk in closets, better covered parking facilities. Expenditures - you pay power, sewer and water at Emerald Ridge the average is about $60 a month in the summer for power and $130 a month in the winter for the electrical heat, the water and sewer even if your one person and the family next to you there are four people there is no designated usage. You pay $150 a month for water sewer and garbage and you are carrying your garbage still to some huge dumpster so that's a lot for that. Cable if you have Comcast it's about $100 a month if you have Verizon it's ok but it's about $60 a month. Overall - Emerald Ridge would be four or five stars if it got with the times and became more modern and fixed the smoking problem. There are more people in the world that do not smoke now but Emerald Ridge seems to cater to those people and doesn't really care if your a non smoker. At least have some buildings designated for smoking and others not maybe that would help. The smoking situation is disgusting. I feel like the community it's is a safe one. The noise level is tolerable accept Friday when the landscapers show up. But have to spruce for the weekend new renters. read more

My 5 stars went to 1. I was also lied too. I signed a covid relief form getting us out of our lease with no fees. A long while later (years) a 2ish k collection pops up. Only in my name... I have called multiple times requesting the forms I signed. I am beyond upset. I was told I would get them... go figure no reply. Hoping this review will get your attention. I have lived here for 7 years, and the management has always been on top of it. If you communicate, they listen. They always try to help! I unfortunately had to move to another city, and I got caught up with school and work. They allowed me an extra day to clean, which should have cost me, but they went ahead and allowed me that extra day at no cost :) Luis, the maintenance manager, does great work too! Very quick to respond and communicates processes. If I move back to Bellevue, I am DEFINITELY moving back here. The staff make it easy to live here. read more

Tldr: this company will lie to your face, and cover their own selves. I would never trust any essex apartment after this. Shame on you Emerald Ridge for hiring individuals who would blatantly lie to your renters. Also it seems if you become a renter here, your assigned parking spot from your lease is not yours exclusively and some random person will consistently park there and if you try to tow, the leasing office will cancel it even if you asked them about it beforehand (: If I could give this apartment place a -1000 star review I would. This place is toxic and will lie to your face in defense of their own. We have been having issues of people parking in our spot and have had issues caused. When were gone, I would ask our friends to take care of our pet and when the spot was taken (by the same car this whole time) they had to park somewhere else where then they were met with a paper warning from another neighbor. This caused anxiety for our friends who were doing us a favor, but shouldn't happen because this is our spot from our lease. Fast forward to January 2025 and we left them a paper warning saying that this will be their last chance and we will tow the next time. And come February 2025, and they parked here once again. So we called the towing company about this car and had it scheduled. However, the leasing office, after they were contacted by the towing company, canceled the order of the tow. The leasing office did not tell us about this, instead called us as to why we decided to tow, but when we were trying to explain it just got disconnected(Jenny's connection kept 'breaking up' everything and even when she said she would call us back, she never did) . After an hour of waiting and the car eventually leaving (timely I must say after all the phone calls to Jenny!) We called the towing company who told us it has been canceled after 13minutes of us calling! How does that happen? The leasing office did. This is so unprofessional especially when we called the leasing office and communicated with Kelly. KELLY went defensive and lied to us and claimed that NO ONE in their leasing office canceled our tow. How could that be if the towing company said it was them? Who is lying? If one did not know the answer to who canceled the tow, it would be best if you admit you don't know. However, given the defensive and outright rude tone from Kelly, I would assume she knew. We have contacted Jen Adams and hopefully get a better understanding of this all. But I hope no one continues to lie to us, when especially Kelly has told us that their phone conversations should all be recorded. Do better and stop lying to us. Ps. Will update this review if we get retaliated from reporting this. Also the tow company told us that we should've contacted the leasing office first before scheduling a tow... however, WE DID DO THIS . In December 2024, when the incident happened with our friends, we emailed the team and they told us specifically that , "we understand if you need to tow a vehicle in the future ". The area is good and the property is kept clean. I only decided to move so that my 15 year old son can be close to metro bus line. Other than that no issues. I will miss living at Emerald Ridge. Tucked away on the southern part of Bellevue, Let's get into this! After living here for what seems like 2long years this is what I have to say about the place! I will start with the bad, Sound from the highway is always present. Most of the time it's just a soft hum however every once in a while you can hear sirens and air breaks. The Rent, a bit over priced since there is no shops or event centers within reasonable walking distance. It's like living in the country but with a city address. Landscape, oh the vain of my experience. Every Friday about 9ish you can hear the noise of blowers and weed cutting tools. Now the good!!!! Communication between you and management. It's amazing. Kinda like your friends but with the understanding they baby sit all the residents. The are clear, and polite. The do their best to help if you have any issues. And this carry's on to maintenance team as well. They respond rather quickly. Staff totally makes this place rock. The nature. Every once in a while a cool fresh breeze rolls in from the south and you can smell the green trees. Not only that but their is a fabulous walking path vary near by.also some times the blue jays may come to your patio to sing and say hi. The other residents tend to keep to them selfs and you still feel as though you have privacy even in a big community such as this place. All in all I would not stay here again due to I need just a bit more amenities nearby however it was a vary pleasant stay. I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for a place in Bellevue. I am so happy with my guy Luis!! my sink, and bathtub was stopped up. He came promptly on a saturday morning. Luis had my toilet and sink fixed within 20 min, he then came back and replaced all the knobs that feel apart and gave me new living room blinds. I've lived at Emerald Ridge Apartments for several years and have had a wonderful experience overall. Tops Pros: -Management! Heather and Mark are by far the best apartment managers I've ever known. *Super* responsive, caring, and professional. I can't say enough good things about them and how much their support has added to my overall living experience. -Location: One of Washington's largest wetlands is directly across the street, and this was the main selling point for me. If you're a nature lover, jogger, walker, biker, etc. then you'll love this park. Emerald Ridge is also situated close to the 405, which is convenient for commuters. Top Cons: -I have a noisy upstairs neighbor. At times, I can hear them playing shooter games late into the evening, and their dog frequently runs around, which sounds like thunder in my living room. -Maintenance is hit or miss at times, but this may reflect the current employment crisis, which has made finding skilled labor challenging in some places. I'd say overall, they're pretty good, but I've had to request rework on a few occasions (e.g. caulking with the wrong type). Overall, I recommend Emerald Ridge as a place to live, especially if you enjoy nature. :) read more

I lived here for about a year. I strongly recommend that no one rent an apartment in this complex. Firstly, there are no office workers in this complex and the lysin office is always closed. Even they don't answer calls and emails. secondly the apartment is very very old. In the kitchen, the stove does not work and the stoves are always flooded. And something won't stop working for you apart, they won't fix it. you will be blamed for this and will charge for it. in the third they have a very small gym and it is not possible to do anything there. The great thing about this place is that they allow pets and the rent is reasonable. They do have a tanning bed available for the residents. Other than that, there is not many positive things that can be said about this place. The staff was always rude to me when I ask them to fix something in the apartment. They don't have a gym at all. If you live downstairs, you WILL hear every things that goes on upstairs. They towed my car once, because they thought it was a guest's car that parked in resident lot. They did pay for the fees, but there was a scratch on the car from the towing and they deny any responsibility. They will use every possible reason/excuse to deduct your security deposit when you move out. Try your luck some where else. read more

My fiancé and I were thoroughly pleased with our experience with Emerald Ridge, and we would not hesitate to live there again. From start to finish, the management team was overall friendly, responsive, and helpful. I note that I gave the apartments only 4/5 stars though because there was one instance where a member of the management team refused to get involved when we had billing issues with the apartment-mandated utility company. If possible, I would give 4.5/5 stars. The apartment itself was spacious and well-insulated from noise. We also moved into a more modern renovated apartment so it looked great. We had assigned parking spaces, but there were also plenty of extra spaces for guests. The other residents were respectful and friendly. The move out process was painless. We did not mind losing our small deposit at move out because it was anticipated under the contract. We did not do the most thorough job with cleaning and was unable to get the apartment as spotless as we would expect it to be if moving in for the first time. read more

Location of the apartment is good, there is nice park just on the other side of the street and it is close to highway if you go to Seattle for work. People in management are friendly. But, I won't recommend this place unless you have no choice. When we moved in to this apartment, it wasn't clean. There was pet smell all over the carpets. Bathtub liners were broken in many places and they didn't even change it. Maintenance was awful. It took many days for them to come and fix the issues and they really didn't have much skills. Management doesn't care about the buildings. Building stairway was very dirty and they never cleaned it. There was delayed waste removal. Trash area was always loaded and trashes were all over the ground. When we moved out, we cleaned the apartment but they charged us with $120 for cleaning the apartment that they didn't even bother to clean at the move in time. read more

Best apartment complex! I strongly suggest looking at the timeline when reading reviews. I've only been here a few months, but this is the first apartment I've been in that I can see renewing the lease. The management is great (I mean, they're apartment managers, so y'know, they're particular about rent and the lease is like a million page life insurance policy). Tiffany and Jessica are always friendly, and they listen. They're happy to help in ways that they can, but renters need to recognize Emerald Ridge is part of Essex, so management can't go bending all sorts of rules. If I call with a silly question (where do I pay w/s/g again?) they happily answer my question with patience. Pet policies are great. Very safe neighborhood and complex (they have security at night.) The maintenance staff is the best. They are happy and punctual. I've never seen maintenance men so quick to say hello! Our smoke detector was beeping for a few hours randomly, and they hopped right on over to come take a look! The fitness center is tiny, but my roommate and I have never had a problem fitting in an adequate workout with their equipment. They have a tanning bed, hot tub and pool-- all of which are legit, and they maintain. The mail service is good, meaning you can get packages delivered without a bit of problem. The apartments are clean, definitely up to great standards, and a wonderful place to which I enjoy coming home. The location is perfect-- there isn't a grocery store down the street, but you're surrounded by the amazing Mercer Slough with many trails. Only cons are that the landscaping crew can be a bit loud in the morning (I work so it's not a problem.) They also have noise rules (no noise or appliances after 10 pm). Hands down the best place you can find for the price, and I've looked for 9 months and lived in different complexes. read more

I moved here in December from out of state. During the process, management was really helpful with all my questions since I was unable to view the apartment before moving. Maintenance has been helpful since moving in as well. The 1st floor units have really large patio areas that are big enough for a dog to run around in a bit (wish I had known this before moving in so I could request the 1st floor). The downfall...My upstairs neighbors are so loud. I know this is a combination of them being inconsiderate along with very thin walls and old flooring because I can hear every step they take (like an old creaky house), I can even hear them when they use the bathroom (gross) and for some reason they're constantly pounding on their floors, which is my ceiling. Along with the excessive noise, my downstairs neighbors smoke so I'm constantly smelling cigarettes in my apartment (I thought most complex's didn't allow smoking indoors but I guess not this one)...With how much I'm paying, I wouldn't think these things wouldnt be an issue. All in all, I really love my apartment but I doubt I'll continue my lease primarily due to the thin walls here. Wish they had updated the creaky flooring and thin walls when they were updating everything else in the apartment but at least my two bedroom/two bath apartment looks nice. read more

Friend currently living there had his car broken in. Same happened to me when I parked in visitors area a couple months ago. My ex moved out early 2015 and I know of two more residents in 2014 that had their cars broken into. For $1750 a month you'd think they'd install cameras and have better patrols or security. Every summer, no matter the building, there are always ants coming in. Their spraying does not work. The recycling/ trash pretty much is always overflowing. People then dump their rubbish on the ground rather than walk over to a different trash area. read more

I had a great time living at this place for 2 years, my room mate and i were able to get a fantastic price and the location is excellent, besides the traffic from 405 it was ideal. The pet policy is relaxed and there is a large field across the street for those dealing with cats and dogs. Apartments like these however are owned by larger companies that make a lot of money off of the smaller fees (security deposits, damages). My understanding of what we (as tenants) were responsible for was strongly miscommunicated by the managers. We ended up losing the entirety of the security deposit, we were over charged our last months rent (ended up being fixed, but i was given different numbers by every member of the staff), and apparently the lease stated that we would be responsible for replacing the entire carpet in the unit because it was old and had wear and tear from previous tenants. If you choose to live here make sure every cost discussed (move out/damages/hidden fees) is in writing, dated, and discussed before you sign any lease read more

I lived in this community for 3 years. The pros of this community is that the location is nice (near Mercer Slough), it's conveniently located within Bellevue, and the trees around the buildings are beautiful. The cons are many and include: (1) Very noisy neighbors, with minimal or no courtesy to the mandated quite times. I had nightmare neighbors who would fight at all hours of the day and night, and complained several times to the leasing office about them but the company never seemed to do anything about this. (2) The property is incredibly dirty. People leave their trash all over the community (my neighbors above me would dump their dirty water over my patio area!), people don't pick up their dog poop, and the common waste disposal area is so incredibly dirty with people leaving open bags of food and trash all over that attract flies and wasps. It almost looks like a crime scene, unfortunately. I never got the sense that the leasing team is trying to address this issue. (3) The leasing office requires that all packages be delivered to the office, and then you're under the mercy of their working hours to pick up your packages, plus some packages have been lost or misplaced. I would NOT recommend this place to live in. read more

My wife and I have lived here for several months and are very happy with our choice. We had looked all over Seattle and Bellevue and couldn't find the right place. Most everything was either too expensive or a sacrifice in some way. Eventually we found Emerald Ridge and we are very happy with out choice! The apartments themselves vary in terms of how newly renovated they are, but even the "older" units were fairly nice. It seemed that each unit we'd visited at least had newer countertops. We never have heard much of anything in terms of noise from our neighbors, which I think speaks to both the sound-proofing of the building and the demeanor of most tenants. The area itself is great. It's nearby downtown Bellevue and the Factoria mall area, which gives lots of options when it comes to shopping or running errands. Having the mercer slough across the street is very nice. The property itself is surrounded by trees, so despite being in close proximity to I-405 and I-90 it's fairly quiet. The only qualm I have about the property is that southbound 118th street gets really backed up during rush hour, but that's no fault of Emerald Ridge. We have had a lot of interactions with the management and they have all been very positive. The management is readily available, quick to act, and courteous. I'm surprised that some of these other reviews have negative things to say about management, as we are very happy with them. From what I can tell, the Emerald Ridge staff tends to go the extra mile to make sure tenants are happy and taken care of. Our service requests have always been quickly and reliably handled by maintenance. read more

I have now been living here for ~2.5 years. In the last year the whole office management and maintenance team has changed. While the new team is efficient, no one compares to the friendliness of the previous team who always went above and beyond for their residents and the current ones do what is needed. The current team has converted part of the visitor parking for their own office use and has changed a few policies to make their life easier inconveniencing residents (such as limiting size and weight of packages accepted). My unit is one of the "classic" units so it has not been renovated. The tub has had to be resurfaced multiple times in the last 2 years - not sure if this is because it is a classic unit or the renovated ones have the same issue. This has been a bother but they have promptly fixed the issue each time. Sadly there is no place to sit outside and enjoy the sun during the summer. Overall, this is one of the better places to live in Bellevue. The rent is market appropriate mainly when you consider parking is included and the property offers a pool (which is open ~2-3 months out of the year). I have considered moving but find it tough to find another place in Bellevue that offers this much space for the price. read more

I have lived here for more than 2 years, and I am very happy living here. I looked at many, MANY places before choosing Emerald Ridge. It is pet-friendly, the location is convenient, and the rents are reasonable. The apartment manager, Tiffany, is easy to talk to, and if you every have any issues with your apartment, other residents, etc. just go talk to her. She is truly invested in resolving any situation. The maintenance staff responds promptly, and I have not had any problems with their repairs. They do good work and also keep the grounds kept-up and clean. Sometimes I can hear my neighbors or people outside if they are talking loudly. Usually, it's children that I hear outside, rather than the adults. Also, there are some residents who do not pick up after their dogs, which is an issue that the staff continues to work on. But overall, I really enjoy living here and am so happy that I found this place! read more

I have lived at Emerald Ridge for 5 years. I did move once during the 5 years thinking I wanted to be more centrally located in Bellevue. I realized quickly how good it was at Emerald Ridge and for many reasons, I have moved back. The Property Manager, Tiffany, and her staff are the best by far of any apartment complex I have lived in. They take a lot of pride in the appearance of the complex. The grounds are kept up beautifully; unfortunately, there are always those one or two tenants that just throw their garbage near the dumpsters and can't take the time to actually put their trash inside the dumpsters, but if that happens here, it is cleaned up in minutes, it is unbelievable how quickly they respond to things like that. They must check the grounds all day to make sure it is spotless. The Maintenance crew is amazing. If you call in a service request, usually someone is there to fix it within minutes of hanging up the phone. I have even said, there is no rush, but that does not matter. They want things to be perfect for their tenants. They are just the best, I can't say enough about all the employees at Emerald Ridge. Every summer Emerald Ridge has a BBQ by the pool for all the tenants and it is so much fun. The staff does all the cooking and it is a great way to get to know your neighbors. The apartments are laid out nice and are very spacious, lots of storage. There is assigned parking and they also have carports for a small price. The grounds are beautiful and right across the street is Mercer Slough that has walking paths and a great place to take your dog and for the kids to play. They've been doing construction work for over 4 month now. The constant construction noise from the equipment, the chemical smell, no privacy. You have construction guys hanging out on your balcony doing work. We really liked the location but not the actual complex. Who ever thought it's ok to do that much construction work with people presently living in the buildings is an idiot and asking for lawsuit! read more

I can't say enough about Emerald Ridge. I've lived here over 3 years and have only the most positive experiences. The amazing office staff,Tiffany and Jessica were here when I came. They are always welcoming, cheerful, professional and helpful. They are aided by maintenance superheros Ruslan and Luis. My few maintenance requests have been handled immediately. The grounds and buildings are always lovely. Mercer Slough across the street is a great addition. Some noise does come through the floor but it's expected and acceptable. My car and two other people car been broken into in the past few weeks. You ask them what are you going to do about it you only get sorry that sucks. I pay way to much here to have my things damaged! I could have a house for what I pay here... I don't feel safe here anymore and no one really cares. The floors are so thin I can hear everything and the people under me put in a noise complaint because I wake up early to go to work and they can hear me walking around. They put an eviction thing on my door because of it! I cant help it if the floors make notice when I walk... Im only 140.... read more
