If I good give this business a negative number I would! I took my Husky-Akita mix "Ruca" into this emergency clinic on 07/25 because she had not eaten for three days and also could not keep down water. Her symptoms also included terrible diarrhea as well as severe vomiting. When I arrived at the clinic the people in the front questioned me several times if I had called ahead of time because they were very busy! I was sent to this emergency clinic by another vet near me because they said that she needed to be seen immediatly because it was an emergency situation. They did not take it as an emergency at all! They sent me to a "triage room" (mind you I had my 5 year old daughter with me as well in tears) and told me that her vitals were fine and unless i wanted to wait over 12 hours for her to be seen by a doctor to just bring her home and bring her back if the symptoms got worse. WELL THEY DID! the next morning (this would be day 4 of no water or food ingestion) Ruca was a very healthy dog who was only 1 and a half years old current on all of her shots and never had any medical issues. On 07/26 i returned the emergency pet clinic at 7 a.m. with Ruca and was greeted by the front desk staff (the only nice people in this whole clinic) I dont remember her name but she was very kind and actually seemed concerned about my pet. A nurse was then sent out and checked her vitals and this will never leave my head "her gums are pink" so her oxygen levels are fine and she seems steady. I opted to keep her there and paid the 150$ for the exam and was told to leave and the doctor would call me as soon as he had seen Ruca. 3 hours later I received a call from the doctor stating he could not figure out what was wrong with my pet and that he would need to run diagnostics to include blood work, urinalysis, and an x-ray for $1250.00 Outrageous pricing at this hospital! but i paid it because I didnt want anything to happen to my best friend and wanted to make sure she got the treatment she needed. I received another call from the doctor around 2 p.m. (4 hours later) and he explained that ruca had a kidney infection, UTI, as well as a few other issues and explained to me that she had needed to be hospitalized so he can "IV" treat her in order to rehydrate her!!!!!! WHY WAS SHE NOT ALREADY BEING HYDRATED HE KNEW SHE HAD SEVERE DIARHEA AND VOMITING WHY DID NO ONE CALL TO ASK ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I picked Ruca up finally around 4:30 p.m. she could not even walk!!!! I had to carry her to my truck (no offering from the staff for help) as soon as I got home Ruca was pooping blood!!!! (THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THERE WAS NO BLOOD IN HER STOOOLLLL!!!!!!!!!! HER GUMS WERE BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RUCA DIED 30 minutes after leaving this horrible heartless emergency clinic. NO OFFERING OF ANY OTHER TREATMENT. NO OFFERING OF A LOWER PRICE THAN 6000$ to hospitalize my dog. I have never been to such a terrible animal hospital in my life. If you have to drive anywhere else to ensure your pet does not die in the care of this facility who just leaves animals stuck in a cage without checking on them or giving them the proper care they need then do it! All the owner and this place wants is there money and for your pets to die obviously without caring what so ever. I will be asking for my full refund back and reporting this business to BBB and go to the end of the earth to ensure that my daughter (pet) Ruca gets the justus she truly deserves after suffering with the most heartless doctors and staff I have ever met. They did not even offer me anything of eunathasia or even warn me that my dog would die if she was not hospitalized WARNING AGAIN!!!! DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR PET HERE EVER!!!!! THEY WILL JUST LET YOUR ANIMAL SUFFER AND DIE ON YOUR DIME!!!! I AM OUT 2000$ as well as my best friend (who was actually my emotional support dog) as I am a disabled vet. Do not come here!!!!!! Our cat passed away at home in the evening. The staff at EPIC was so understanding and accommodating as I brought him in at 11pm in the middle of the week for cremation services. We weren't even patients there before but they treated us with such care and compassion. We then received a sympathy card in the mail signed by all the staff members. My young and curious Husky/German Shepherd is a gourmet who delights in sampling supposedly indestructible plastic or rubber toys and finds it a challenge to prepare her own meals from human items on counters or in the trash. I definitely need a veterinary ER that I can rely on, and I have found one in EPIC. Their new location on the corner of Jefferson and Montezuma is easy to locate, has excellent vets and support staff, plenty of parking, and is immaculately clean. EPiC is run as if it was an ER for humans. This means that you wait in the lobby while your pet is diagnosed; again, after joining your pet and the vet to discuss the treatment options and during the treatment. My girl has been there on multiple occasions (don't judge me...) and EPIC has never steered me wrong, nor suggested any treatment that wasn't necessary. They have actually suggested suggested not to do certain procedures unless her condition got worse. And in that case, they provide a 24 hour window where you can return at no additional charge for the visit if it's the same condition; only for any additional treatment, if required. My dog was barely 5 yrs old and came in for treatment of a UTI. His height and weight were actually under the standard for a male english mastiff. As far as your claim of "$12000 for semen" I dont see that in my review and I would not ask for 12,000 in return for semen loss - thats ridiculous and I am NOT a breeder. Further, you made the statement "my vet agreed with yours" that is also not true. No vet would agree about dosing a dog with methadone and failing to take vitals for almost 6 hours. My vet absolutely did not agree that it is standard practice - so stop making things up to make yourself look better. There are many reviews on google that claim similar stories about your hospital and eventually people will take note. I did not "choose to euthanize" your hospital left me no choice when they put my dog into a worsened state and as statednin his record, it was reccomended by your Vet. I have a feeling some of your staff knows exactly how it happened, which is why there is missing medical records your staff claims they dont have. You have yet to send me ALL records and images!I would never go through the trouble to make a frivolous claim and I know my claim is warranted. Not only they did not save our beloved little dog by charging 1400 for a 12 min so called CPR, they had the audacity to double charge my credit card, this was 12 days ago, after visiting them 3 times, calling 4 times, talking to manger, still no refund from them, no words can describe our sadness over loosing our little girl and on top of that being charge 2800 is outrageous, stay away from them, unorganized facility, DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD, since they abuse your card and double charge, now we have to seek legal advice to get our 1400 dollars back, awful experience, they made our sad loss even worse by committing fraud and double charging. read more

I'm never the type to write a bad review as I'm a business owner and understand the impacts they can have on a business. But I feel I have to on this place. I took my dog here on a Saturday for a hematoma on his ear because my normal vet was not open. They took him back and then took me to a room to talk to the vet. They said he either needed an $1,800 surgery or they could drain it for $800 but that it would most likely come back. I asked for them to print me the options and give me a moment. After that I had some questions for the vet before I proceeded. A different lady came to check on me and I asked to talk to the vet and was told she was just relay back and forth instead, which whatever thats fine I suppose but she didn't really know anything I was asking and didn't make me feel comfortable. I asked if this was an emergency that needed to be done asap as the prices seemed very high. Which I understand as it's an emergency vet. Was told no and that I could just pay the fee and that he'd be fine for a couple days until I made a decision and paid $250 for the visit and some antibiotic eardrops because they said he had an infection ( which he didn't actually have) and a cone (which my vet laughed about and said it was pointless) I took him to my normal vet Monday and was told about the same 2 options but at about a 3rd of the price. But, my vet recommended a 3rd option of just giving him steroids for a couple weeks and that should work instead (was not given this option at the emergency vet) His ear was back to normal within a few days for $70 (which was their exam fee plus the steroids) This place did not make me feel comfortable with my animal at all and just gave me the gut feeling of being somewhat shady. I felt pressured to make an expensive decision and wasn't even given all the options that are available. This place is a cash grab that doesn't care about animal owners and their pets, well that's my opinion, I hope others have had a better experience. If I would have trusted them I would have been out an extra $1,700 and my dogs ear would have been permanently scarred. I would only take my animals here if it was absolutely a life threatening emergency. read more

Much better than the animal hospital in Menifee, off the 215? (CVS / CVA something like that). I have taken 3 dogs for ER visits, 2 of the dogs had to go twice before the new year. The first time I came to epic was when my, almost 2-year-old now, Pomeranian was a tiny 4 month old, and she had taken a fall, hit her head that left her very disoriented and couldn't really stand up or sit up properly. I used to take my dogs to that CVA hospital, however, two dogs died under their care, and on the phone I was told it was not an emergency that a puppy had a head injury, I no longer trusted them. Called epic and they told me to bring her straight away, they kept her overnight for monitoring, even called me about her progress while she was staying there. She was able to go home the next day and after a few days they even reached out to see how she was doing. The staff has always been very nice and patient. The last couple times I went with two other dogs, I really liked the male vets we saw the best. They explained everything very well, even left detailed visit summaries which helped a lot for follow up vet visits. The last visit I took my old girl. A 10 yr old Pomeranian who has an enlarged heart that presses on her trachea, making her cough a lot. The last time I took her she was just tired from coughing, just not feeling well, she even had a scary episode of becoming unresponsive. The vet found the proper medication for her, even checked her blood pressure & found she had high blood pressure (never heard of that before!), recommended a new diet for her. Now at home on the new meds & diet, she is like a young girl again! She is back to kicking her little legs (wiping her paws) when she gets excited & even makes her voice heard when she is waiting for her food to be made. I am especially happy that the last Vet we saw, was able to help my girl, and I didn't have to pay an arm & a leg. I definitely would recommend this ER. :) read more

Life saving angels!!!!! Our rescue was turned away on a Wednesday afternoon from 4 emergency vets before EPIC said Yes. We had a baby kitten with head trauma and they did not hesitate to intake him in despite being short-staffed. Our kitty stayed in their hospital for 24hours for less than $1500 (which is truly a compassionate price for emergency). Our rescue would not have been able to afford going anywhere else and they clearly made an effort to make it work for us. Besides the amazing prices, the staff were literally above and beyond with every patient. To be clear, they care about your animal above all else. That's FINE with me! People are so rude- they don't want to wait- they don't want to pay- they don't want to hear their pet needs more care- and still the staff were kind and cordial. But their concern is for your pet. Anyways 24 hours later and we can hardly recognize our Ken. He was brought to them limp and crying on the verge of death, and today he's a happy kitty running around like nothing happened. Our dog was sick and had a rough night. By the time morning came, we knew it was time to say goodbye. We drove here to this clinic, and they took our baby to get checked right away. We knew there wasn't anything to do, but we appreciated the doctor still coming to ask us if we wanted him to try anything. We felt cared for as a family. We sadly had to put our doggy to sleep, but the staff was very nice and treated us and our dog with upmost respect. They gave us time before and after with our baby. No rush. All the paperwork was an easy process. As much as it hurt, we left the clinic knowing that our baby would be in good hands. We also received a nice card from everyone at the clinic giving sympathy for our dog's passing. I visited this emergency clinic on 1/29/2023 at 4:30pm with my dog actively seizing. By the time I arrived he was experiencing his fourth seizure. The up front charge is $1600 dollars for the doctor to see your pet, regardless of symptoms. I paid, and waited in the lobby. At 5:00pm I was brought into a waiting room and dr Simens came in to talk to me about my dog Thor. He recommended hospitalization because he was still have facial focal seizures. I asked him how much medication (midolazqm / diazepam) he had administered. He laughed at me, and told me it was the dose required to stop seizures and it was not working. I asked dr Simens to look at Thors chart to compare how much Valium was required the previous visit several months ago for the same symptoms. Dr Simens arrogantly stated, with a smile on his face, that he was a neuro doctor so he did not nor did he need to check any charts. I requested more Valium be given, as I know from my previous visit when he has cluster seizures he requires a large dose to "break the cycle". He told me he would not give anymore Valium, despite my dog being actively seizing- and instead insisted he he hospitalized and started ob pehnobarbitol. The phenobarbital, I agree my dog needed a stronger medication. But his arrogance and absolute insistence that my dog be allowed to seize while waiting phenobarbital to reach a steady state is unethical, immoral, and not in the best interest of my dog (or anyone else's). I decided to wait for the night shift doctor, so so asked for my dog back. And I am given my dog in a waiting room- with loud bells tied around his neck, complete with pre-Ictal twitching, drooling, and hyper alert. They ensured me my Thor would be fine throughout the night. Not only did dr Simens refuse to treat my dogs seizures properly, he recommended putting him in a cage with bright fluorescent lights shining into his eyes, loud noises surrounding him, with loud bells tied about his neck. Dr Simens was dismissive of my concerns, refused to stop my dogs seizure for no reason other than his ego. I picked my dog up at 8am still shaking, and when I got home he began seizing again. The staff told me he was seizure free all night. My dog was left in a cage, with a bell tied around his neck in a loud office. The centrifuge is so loud you can't even talk over the noise it creates. Nobody in that entire office visually checked on my dog all night. They just assumed he was fine because they didn't hear a bell. Many of this hospitals staff are incredibly unethical and obviously uncaring and inattentive to their patients. When a veterinary practice chooses to employ people with the ego and arrogance of dr Simmons - and dismissive and inattentive staff, it costs animals lives and destroys the trust we as pet owners have in the professionals we pay thousands of dollars per visit. Ensure your voice is heard, especially with dr simens, if you visit this hospital. And if you aren't confident in what your dog needs I highly recommend opting against putting your pets life in dr.simens hands. $1600 dollar bill for overnight care he did not receive, and phenobarbital in doses so large it causes hepatomegaly and highly elevated liver enzymes. I reached out to corporate- no response. Nobody cares. read more

I would highly recommend EPIC when looking for emergency pet care! We received such good care from the doctors & technicians here over the past weekend and at a very reasonable price. Unfortunately our Barley was bit by a rattlesnake on Saturday morning and had to be rushed to the emergency vet clinic. The staff was very helpful and had him in triage in under 10 minutes of us arriving. He was back home and on the mend within 24 hours. We called every couple of hours (even through the night) for an update on our fur baby and every time the staff was more than happy to talk us through his latest test results and progress. Like many, we get there late at night, waited 2+ hours in the car and had to leave my dog. What transpired over the course of the evening and into the morning was a series of calls explaining what was going on and as they're doing so, I'm being told that my dog is becoming overly aggressive, hard to treat and had to be muzzled; that's NOT my dog they're describing. 9AM comes, I go to pick my dog up and I'm told that I had to drive around back to get him because he became so aggressive with the staff that he had to taken be out another exit. When they let me in their back area, I find my dog in a cage, with a muzzle, trembling in a corner and dog poop all over his fur and in the concrete cage. There was no warning, no attempt to communicate that this is what I'm walking into and if you ever see those min long ASPCA commercials in the evening, that's what I experienced. Today in January 17, 2020 and this even happened the 2nd week in October. I wanted this long to write an objective review, devoid of emotions. The Office manager, who's name I can't remember, was cold hearted, condescending and made zero attempt to remotely comprehend the magnitude of the situation nor the fact that at one point, I'm in parking lot on the ground holding my dog, sobbing. Yes I raised my voice but at no time was she cursed at nor threatened despite that being her excuse. 15 minutes later after I calmed down, I called back to say and use whatever words I could to make her day going forward as mentally horrible as possible. I told her she was condescending, lacked empathy, took zero responsibility for her actions or that of the staff, yet blamed it on a dog. The picture I added is one week later at French Valley Vet Hospital on Bento and Washington. This is Dr. Deol and off to the side is his vet tech Emily and taking the picture is his son who assists in the practice. He'd never seen my dog before but after explaining to him the experience we had, this is where and how he performed the visit. No agitation, no muzzle and everyone is calm. Yes, expect long wait times and astronomically expensive ER bills (especially if this is your first time) but that's to be expected. Your best bet is to have pet insurance. Yesterday, my dog had to be seen due to a ear laceration from a dog scuffle. I was warned ahead of time they triage, so based on how critical each animal comes in is how they treat. He was eventually seen, and Dr. Kelly was very compassionate when she called to provide updates. Solely based on my experience, I would continue to come here if I need ER services. I don't know much about pet hospitals but what I do know is my pup was bleeding all over my back seat for an hour before I had to leave and find another clinic that would help. They called back two hours later asking if we still wanted to be seen. I was told there is one doctor. You have dozens of pets to care for and only one doctor? And is that supposed to imply that your techs can't handle much of the load? And if one doctor is caring for all of the pets... what type of care is that? Feels a little 'public defender-y.' And if your clinic can't handle the flow of patients... why not divert pets to other hospitals? I have so many questions. It feels like this place doesn't even try to be good. Like it's a free government service. Maybe it is. So disappointed in how we were handled. I wish ppl would take the time to try to be good. Just try a little. We had to take our puppy (Daisy) here as she was very lethargic and had no energy. We figured it was either she ate something or Parvo. We brought her to this ER vet and we're so glad we did. This place had great care and went thru process of elimination and found she had Parvo. We had Daisy admitted for care and she recovered in two days. The cost were not too outlandish and better than most from an ER perspective. Staff were very helpful and Dr called us twice a day with updates and to keep us posted if any additional cost or treatment were necessary, so no surprise cost, which I also liked. We also were refunded $80 after her stay due to her not needing some of the initial treatment they thought, I was shocked! I would recommend this vet. read more

There are a lot of issues with this place. We took our cat here because she had a cut that needed stitches. We arrived around 10:20 am and were not seen until about 1:50 pm. I get it they were busy. Then we left our cat there to have the stitches put in under general anesthesia, which they said would be a couple of hours. I arrive back around 5:15 pm to pick her up because it has been several hours and we had an event we needed to head off too. When I talked to the receptionist they stated she was being discharged and to wait. Well 15 minutes later that same receptionist informs me that the surgery was not done and it was going to be done by the night vet who arrived at 7 pm. WTF!!!! I was pissed and said okay well I won't be back until about 9 pm will she be done by then? Of yes she will. So at 9:00 pm when we are done with our event we call to inform them we are on our way and want her ready to go when we arrive; giving them a 30 minute warning. Sorry but we waited enough and patiently. Well guess what we arrived at 9:30 pm and we are still waiting for our cat. Seriously get your shit together! You have lied to us so many times and then you can't even get our cat ready when we gave you a heads up that the vet was very well aware we were going to do. Seriously F this place. This should have been an hour visit after being seen for her cut to receive stitches. I wouldn't waste my time ever again to come back. If I have an emergency I will find another place. read more

Have heard so many negatives about this place, but I must say that our experience was exceptional. Every member of the staff we met was professional, respectful and courteous. Their initial rate may seem high, please remember they are an EMERGENCY clinic open 24 hours. I found the final bill to be fair and reasonable and in par with any Vet Clinic around! read more

Almost a month has passed waiting for a response from this Emergency pet clinic and I decided to share my experience, which may help pet owners in the future make the right choice in a short period when you need emergency care and are looking for where to go. Like me some time ago, I had no recommendations in an emergency, and so I simply went to this clinic that I found on Google Maps near me. On November 18, 2023, our family brought our "Lucky" (Jack Russell Terrier) with a suspected animal bite. I cannot say which animal exactly, but there was one bite in the neck area, but no blood was visible. This happened unexpectedly in our fenced backyard, from where the dog returned five minutes later. Perhaps it was a rat, or something else... Lucky was under some stress, but he walked, drank, and behaved quite lively. We nevertheless decided to take him to the hospital to undergo an examination and possible treatment. It was Saturday, and Butterfield Hospital, where we last received flea treatment and were very happy, was closing in an hour, they couldn`t take us until Monday, so we found this 24-hour emergency clinic. We called them and were accepted. The staff said that he might need surgery, but now at least the primary procedures need to be done. Then they presented a large bill for the potential surgery, to which I asked that I would do this surgery in another place for a better price if it was possible to wait in time and Lucky was not in danger. They said yes, it is possible, you can choose elsewhere and have enough time. They said that they had helped him and he could go home. I paid about $500 for primary procedures, and a couple of hours after they called, we took Lucky from their hands on his bed. He was completely different. I realized that they had given him anesthesia, he did not move. He just lay on the couch, looked with strange eyes, didn't recognize us, and sometimes like growled. He was like an alien. We brought him home, he just lay all the rest time in one position on his bed like we took him. And a few hours later he died, never having returned to his previous condition. When we come to the hospital, he walked, moved, drank, was alive, and our usual Lucky with kind eyes. Two hours later they gave us Lucky in a completely different condition. We have so many questions for the hospital, that no one has answered us yet. Why didn't they do him an x-ray, but they included completely unnecessary procedures in the bill? How they you understand what's wrong with a dog if they don't do an x-ray, it was a superficial examination? Why was Lucky under anesthesia and did not come to his previous normal condition? Perhaps he needed a smaller dose? Why didn't they tell us that he might need urgent surgery, but they told us that everything was fine and we could wait until Monday and so on? We would have given everything for him to live and even more, but no one told us that the situation could possibly get worse! The veterinarians returned him to us with jokes, and a few hours later he simply died... We went to the hospital several times after his death, but they always told us that the main manager, Kristi Hundelt, was and still busy and it was difficult to find her, that they would connect(call, email) us, and staff on the front desk were sorry. We have been waiting for a long time. They told me that only Kristi could give us answers to the questions of why our dog was healthier before coming to them... He was a healthy purebred dog, three days before his death he had just turned 3 years old. We were with him from birth, he was a cheerful, friendly, sociable, and affectionate pet! It is so difficult to cope with the loss of a close family member, especially when he passed away so tragically and unexpectedly. For all of us, he was the sunny special part of our world! If you have an emergency, I think you should consider our bitter experience and find another hospital. Please take care of your lovely family members! read more

I had the best experience coming here at 2am in the morning. Not only was the staff very compassionate and so very kind, but they went the extra mile with calling me with updates on my dog. The Dr. even came out to tell me exactly how the whole procedure would go and made me very comfortable. I felt a lot of trust in this vet and so happy I made the decision to take my dog here! I took my dog here to find out that they only have curbside service. They took my dog inside while I waited in my car. Then called me to talk about my dog telling me I needed to spend 1k to have tests done and the whole time not being able to see him. No compassion, no advice unless you pay. Never never never. So grateful I took my boy home to be with his family his last day on this earth. Do not take your pet here.. they only want your $$$$ read more

We brought our chihuahua in because her health had dramatically declined overnight. The front desk staff was very kind when we walked in. We were given space and time to spend with her. This place is a rip off my fiancé took his dog in because he throwing up. They charged him 1200 dollars for X-rays and blood work. They made it seem like he needed the X-rays. They didn't offer him food or water why he was there even to see if he was still nauseous. Then they wanted to charge him for meds when most vets will include it. When we gave him water he was so thirsty that he threw it up minutes later. Very upsetting when you spend that kind of money and they show no empathy or even show they care about there job. Very unprofessional. I know we won't be taking our other animals there. When my dog was sick and I had to put him down the place I took him to didn't even charge me for the cremation or the whole bill. That's a place who really cares. Update: So he took his dog to his vet when they opened and they read the blood results from this place and they knew he had pancreatitis. They didn't need to do X-rays so for the business owner to suggest what tests to run and not even know what he might have is sad. His vet gave him fluids to make sure he was good. So that should tell you who really knows there job. For the same price he had to pay they gave his dog B12 and meds plus food to make sure he was eating. read more

We brought our dog Luna in after she had been vomiting for several days. They tested her blood and took x-rays, which revealed a possible blockage in her intestines. She spent the night at the clinic, and was scheduled for surgery overnight. The surgeon called us late at night and told us that he wasn't convinced that Luna actually needed surgery. So he took more x-rays and found that the blockage was gone. My husband and I really appreciated his honesty and follow-up. Beyond this, the staff is very friendly and helpful. They even emailed me the following day to inquire how Luna was doing after being discharged. I recommend this clinic to anyone in the area if you need emergency care for your fur baby. read more

As previously mentioned in my December yelp review, I genuinely appreciate the EPC staff and Dr. Owens so much. Unfortunately, we had to take our Axel in for another seizure yesterday morning, but the EPC team truly was so supportive, efficient, communicative, and patient.
