Amazing experience!!! My family had dinner at Emeril's Coastal and enjoyed all aspects of our visit. The service was friendly, attentive, and we were all made to feel valued and welcome. Our food was fantastic! Being born and raised in New Orleans, I'm very familiar with Emeril's restaurants. This one certainly didn't disappoint. I was impressed with the casual atmosphere and dining choices. Two of us had burgers, one of us had the grouper sandwich, and my hubs had the grilled snapper. For sides we went with fries, sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. EVERYTHING was DELICIOUS!!!! My burger was over-the-top yummy. I had a taste of each of the sides and the other entrees. I made a reservation a couple of months ago to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday. When we arrived for a 6:00 reservation we waited a short time to be taken to our table. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was 30% full at that time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The hostess started to seat us at a table directly in front of the kitchen doors. We asked if we could be seated at another open table for 6 instead. We encountered quite the resistance from the hostess who made up a story as to why she couldn't move us. It was shocking at how we were made to feel. I truly wasn't sure I wanted to even eat at the restaurant after that. It truly spoiled our special evening. The food was average. My family is vacationing in Miramar Beach Florida and was celebrating the start of our vacation together. The girls at the hostess stand were not very friendly and welcoming. Our waiter Deron did a nice job but missed getting our apps entered/delivered correctly. The fresh Oysters were great but the cornbread was dry and not even served warm. We all got the pasta dish with shrimp and steak and it was delivered quickly but lacked a lot of additional flavor coming from a New Orleans style restaurant. At the end the bill it reflected a credit card fee of 3% and an Art and Entertainment fee which was removed after I questioned what it was actually for and should of been explained and not thrown on the bill to catch. I am a bit dumb founded by many of the critical reviews. I had an absolutely wonderful experience. We tried the upside cornbread. My husband loved it. I was in the fence. Ordered the pork chop and fried chicken. Those that say portions are small are crazy. Our portions were huge and everything I saw coming out of the kitchen was large sized as well this the "higher" prices which I didn't see any higher than any other nice dining experience. We decided to sit at the bar and both bartenders were very nice friendly and accommodating. The fried chicken was delicious. Huge pieces and a whole 1/2 chicken, 3 biscuits and honey butter which were outstanding and collard greens. My husband's pork chop was a double bone large sized served over tons of sweet potato mash. Emeril likes marrying sweet and savory and was evident in every dish. We enjoyed ourselves very much. I would give it a try because it desverces more than the negative reviews. I'm glad we did. Oh! We've been coming here for years. Our last visit was very dissapointing. Prices have increased considerably. The "Catch of the Day" options no longer include any accompaniments so one is forced to order sides at an additional cost. Food was still good but no longer had the "wow" factor. Service was very slow. Olive oil cake - one of our favorites - is no longer on the menu. Other reviewers have mentioned a dramatic change in Emeril's. Something is definitely wrong here. read more

Grrrrrrr. Do you know how freaking irritated I am for writing this review? I see Emeril in the kitchen, working his ass off. He's an amazing chef. I've been a fan of his for as long as I can remember. I have gone to his restaurants in New Orleans, which have all been excellent. Let's start with what went right for the meal: Foodwise, we have no real complaints. The food is good, which is what you would expect from a master like Emeril. The fried chicken, calamari, burger, Hamachi crudo, olive oil cake.....it was the best meal we had all week along 30a. The wine list was good and we loved that we got a beautiful Portuguese wine that was served at the right temperature and in nice wine glasses. Our servers were nice kids. And this isn't their fault. But when we ordered, we hesitated to give the whole order. He said, don't worry, the kitchen will pace this out. Mistake number one.... We got our oysters before our wine. We also had to ask about our mocktail as well. Then they literally brought out the rest of our order at the same time, which included two more appetizers and two entrees. To say we were pissed is an understatement. To have to rush to eat the food while it's hot, and having no room on the table is just unacceptable. We told our waiter how angry we were at this. He said he had discussed it with management. No one came by to apologize. So we scarfed down our food and wine and were done in an hour. For some people I'm sure this would be a dream. But for us, this was a huge fail. And I'm sure it would be for Chef if he was having dinner. Forget about them describing what each dish is made up of. It's just not that type of place. And no one ever came by to refill our wine glasses. If we decide to go back, we will put in an order for each course separately. Maybe that would save the meal. I hope Chef Emeril's doesn't take offense when I reference Ratatouille, when Remi is describing the marriage of different flavors to make something new, using colors- and fireworks to describe the flavors. We started with drinks, the virgin drinks for the kids and the Chef E's Martini for me complete with blue cheese stuffed olives - perfect Then we went to the cheese board, four different cheeses with fruits and nuts, a honey cone and tomato jelly ( you heard me ) absolutely amazing, a symphony in our mouth Next the entrée: Fried chicken with fries or with mashed potatoes and mixed greens. The chicken was moist the skin was crunchy and flavorful, the fries were great, and the mixed greens- I don't even know what to say- other worldly they were so tender and the taste sweet but spicy, but not too spicy Shrimp & Grits, if you have followed me you know we are shrimp and grits Snobs. The best ever is from Urban Grub in Nashville- everything gets compared to that. Well we have a new bar. The texture the taste the seasoning- absolutely exceptional. So good we came back two weeks in a row! First with our son, daughter-in-law and grand daughter for our anniversary. The blue crab claw appetizer was absolutely amazing! Our waiter went above and beyond in recommending baguette to soak up the liquid in which it was cooked. We enjoyed the grouper and the sparkler cotton candy treat. The next week we had the crab claws and tried the captain's platter (too much food for one person!) and the crab cakes. Best crab cakes outside of Baltimore! Our waitress, Gabby was very lackluster. We were not greeted by her for at least 15-20 minutes after we were seated and the restaurant was only half full. She had a flat affect and was not attentive to us, however there was a gentleman at a nearby table that she went out of her way to attend to so i know she understands customer service but we were not on the receiving end. I will say, there was a young man named Nick that appeared to be a busser that was extremely attentive to every table in the dining room. We saw him engage with every guest multiple times, checking on us, bringing us the things we asked for all the while bussing tables and running food. We did tell the manager how impressed we were with Nick and he showed great work ethic and tremendous customer service. We hope that Tony, the manager understands what a gift he has in Nick and affords him the opportunity to advance in the organization. Food was just a bit above average. read more

We took my daughter and future son-in-law to lunch to celebrate their engagement. No dinner reservations were available due to it being the holidays. We ate on the patio due to Covid. We had dined here many time before and had great meals. I had the worst meal!!!!! I ordered fish and chips. The fish had so much breading that you could barely tell there was fish inside. The potatoes (more like home fries) had a rancid flavor to them. The waiter did not even ask about my meal when it was virtually in touched. We wanted to try something different than our go to, Cuvée and The Vue so we picked Emeril's. We had a reservation but the hostess was confused about where to seat us. I asked if they could be warmed only to get more 14 minutes later worse than before. My drink glass was cracked but I didn't notice it until the alcohol burned my lips. The entrees were eye appealing and that's it. I should have been warned about the pasta dish because the vessel was extremely hot but the food was lukewarm and the seafood platter lacked flavor. At this point I had cut lips and burned fingers but still decided to try dessert. We ordered the bread pudding and it was awesome and prepared to perfection. Not just a building with a celebrity chef's name, Emeril's Coastal is legitimately amazing! Very sexy design from the lighting to the open kitchen where many times you can see Chef working in person. We eat here every time we are in the panhandle and they never disappoint. The staff is top notch from the top down. You are always greeted immediately by smiling faces and that attitude continues down to the bus boys. All are extremely professional and pleasant. The food is next level amazing. I had the Seafood Platter as I could not settle on one seafood item. This thing comes loaded with fried fish, oysters, crab claws and shrimp and I mean it is loaded! The breading is beyond addictive encasing what I found to be only the finest seafood. Huge plump shrimp, succulent oysters, tender and flakey fish and sweet crab claws and blue crap hush puppies. All cooked to absolute perfection! My wife had the chopped salad with a side skewer of grilled shrimp. Even with all the food on my platter, we were fighting over those beautiful grilled shrimp! No two ways around it, Emeril and his staff just get seafood in a masterful way! They also know burgers. We had "one of those people" who doesn't like seafood and he had the burger and he said it was one of the best he has ever had. That's saying a lot as he is a big time connoisseur of burgers. We were able to make same day reservations which was nice. The shrimp in the shrimp scampi were a nice size but it lacked flavor. The Oyster Spaghetti was a large portion and the crackers they serve at the beginning of the meal are very tasty. (I'm still trying to figure out how to make them!) The olive oil cake was delicious. Perfect feast for my birthday! The seafood platter is amazing for $50! Fish and perfectly breaded oysters are my go to then biting into the lush mouthful of fresh large shrimp dipped in homemade sauces finished my adventure. There are blue crab fritters and fresh cut fries and more-it is different nightly. I literally can't contain myself when I order this. I don't want anything else. I order my lemon drop-they make a mean one and it's not on the menu but they offer it. Oh Emeril used to be there all the time but he's working on his new restaurant in Nola. I was worried food could be affected but it wasn't! Don't forget they treat you on your birthday with homemade cotton candy too! Maaa I cannot believe how far the GOAT of Creole cooking has fallen. The restaurant looks nice on the inside but don't be fooled! Every single dish tasted like it was made of frozen components. Trust me, it is terrible. Don't make the same mistake I did and think because it's Emeril it's good. It's bad bad bad bad bad bad BAD. On top of the awful food, they add a bunch of bogus fees on top of the menu. They charge tax on the credit price even if you pay the cash price. I guess they keep the windfall. I believe transparency is key in the restaurant industry, and these hidden fees felt deceptive. This practice of adding undisclosed charges leaves a bad taste in customers' mouths. I hope the management will reconsider this approach and start informing guests of any additional costs upfront. read more

Admit it. Part of the reason you're going here is to see Him in the kitchen. You hope He'll touch your food or that you can get His attention as he greets the regulars and special tables. It's okay. He's there a lot, so you at least have the chance to see Him. Really, though. The restaurant is definitely more commercialized than I was expecting. It's in one of those fancy shopping areas and is actually huge. Fortunately, we were on the kitchen side, so we did actually get to see Emeril running everything. I don't think he was cooking much (if at all), but you could tell he was super involved in everything going on back there. Overall, we were pretty happy with our experience, even if the man himself didn't stop by our table. Chef E's Martini: definitely not the best martini we've ever had, but the blue cheese olives were really good. Jonah Crab Claws Special: tasty, but several of them were overdone and kind of tough. We also wish that they served bread with them to soak up the delicious garlic-chili sauce. Oysters: good, nothing super special, though. Shrimp and Grits: this was our only real disappointment. The grits were great, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly, but the gravy is a very Cajun-style roux gravy that you find as a base for everything from gumbo to etouffe. It was done well, don't get me wrong. It just wasn't our style. Pasta Nero: delicious. I could eat this all the time. In fact, I think I need to figure out how to dupe it at home. We chose the pineapple upside down cornbread as an appetizer which was yummy but not too sweet. For entrees, shrimp and grits, skillet lobster and slaw. We shared a slice of banana cream pie which was quite impressive and delicious. Endless mimosas were enjoyed with our lunch. First time and very disappointed. Fish and chips took over 45 minutes. I wish I had taken a picture of it. It looked awful and tasted awful. The waiter delivering it said he would be back with ketchup which never happened. The fish was overcooked and very greasy. The chips were little squares of potatoes. I never got an apology from the bartender who took the order but I believe forgot to put the order in. In fact, the bartender totally ignored us after we got our food. We had to get another bartender to check us out. It was supposed to be served with malt vinegar aioli but it tasted and looked like mayonnaise. read more

Yellowfin poke bowl just wasn't edible, sadly. It was COVERED in the mayo sauce and the rice was one big blob and gummy. This was such a sad meal. The best things were the bottle of wine and crab claws. Worst $400 we've spent on vacation. And sadly, we chose this restaurant because we thought it would be a "sure bet" with it being Emeril's. Overall: a good dinner. We sat outside on the covered patio and our server was super nice. Emeril himself was also there in the restaurant, which was a lovely surprise. Appetizers: We had the chargrilled oysters and the assorted cheese board. (The cheese board was from the daily specials). The oysters were amazing, and the cheese board was good as well, but the cheese was not worth the $30. Entrees: I had the pasta nero. It was recommended to me by the server over the oyster spaghetti. It was quite good, although I wasn't "wowed." The squid ink fettucini noodles were interesting and had a good flavor, but they were a bit chewy. There was a lot of crab on the pasta though, which I was very pleased about. Overall, good flavor, but I would get something different next time. Also, side note- while we were there, there were 10+ birthdays, and you get a sparkler and dessert if you go there to celebrate, which I thought was a cute touch. read more

Just don't. I agree with the other reviewers. Food and service are not the same. We have been coming every year to Emerils when we visit, but this time we really had bad service and food. When they charge the exorbitant prices you expect perfection in service and execution. They got our fish order wrong and at first tried to explain it away, then finally conceded. They didn't charge us, but the back and forth was tiring. I had the shrimp scampi special, overladen with butter and a house made fettuccine that was so thick it was doughy. Tonight it's Boschamps where I will order twice the food for the same price and quality. Fooled me once! read more

Just finished Sunday brunch at Emeril's Coastal. We saw the man himself in the kitchen and told our waiter to ask Emeril to pick our appetizer and entrees. What a great decision! They brought out the cast iron lobster with bread bread dipping that was scrumptious. Then we got their version of lox and bagels and and andouille crusted fish. The topping on the fish was light and crisp with a bit of smokiness from the andouille. Overall great meal and we were too full for dessert! read more
